athansor
Hi all. Just got my copy of Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness (love it, btw) and I was looking over the different meal plans. As a woman (and a slightly older one), I was wondering if any of the female vegan bodybuilders on the site could give an idea about how much to reduce the total calorie intake of the meal plans in the book to suit a woman. I did competitive bodybuilding many many years ago, before I was vegan, and I'm looking to get back into it (and even bigger!) on a vegan diet. Thanks! BlueRose
I'm interested in the answer to this question myself. I'm currently doing intense aerobic and strength training plus running, looking to shed 5-10 lbs plus gain lean muscle. Abs are finally starting to show definition but arms, particularly upper, could use work. Ditto with upper thighs. I'm doing special programs to focus on those areas and get some sculpting done and my caloric intake averages about 1400-1600 per day. But...I'm also a decided newbie to all of this bodybuilding stuff and am still in the "shed layers of fat" stage. Once I'm at ideal weight, I'll be doing cardio about 3 times a week and strength training the rest. However, I'm looking into doing the Insanity program so if I get to my goal before I do, I'm switching onto that as my main workout.
Drawn2Inspire
Let's see if bumping this draws any responses. I just got Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness, love it, and had the same question about scaling calories. I'm 5'4", 110 about 24% body fat and not looking to compete. Trying to therefore shed more fat while building muscle, although to some degree, I'd rate the fat loss higher as I think some of the muscle is there just waiting to be revealed . Thanks! lalamurphy
I'm having a hard time with knowing if I am eating 'too much' or not enough. I am, 5'6" and 119 pounds. I've always been super skinny, and I eat pretty much nonstop. (my main food group though is greens.. followed by fats, mainly avocados) Anyways, I am doing lots of strength training, martial arts, and a bit of cardio and I keep trying to make sure not too over eat and also not to under eat! I think I definitely eat in the 2,000 calorie range, but even when i use to eat junk food about 10 years ago, i was always skinny. my boyfriend keeps telling me to eat more than i think so that i can build muscle (its really hard for me to do so for some reason..) I'm definitely not into counting calories because i feel like it makes me have more "disorderly" thinking... and i'd rather just listen to my body... although sometimes its really just hard to tell what i need!
