gee
Hi people, In the last 4 months I have finally got back my old weight / strength.A big help there has come from the NuGo vegan protein bars. The issue is that before I could "accept" the sugar in there, but now that my body fat has increased substantially I cannot...and I am kind of scared of going bar to a no-bar diet These bars are the only vegan ones that I find myself able to eat at anytime, even when I really don't feel like eating (They are so good! but probably because of the sugar...)... and they have a good 10g of protein per bar... so I am looking for a replacement like that (if possible with some good fat, these did not have any). I tried the vega ones, but not a huge fan.I tried some other big brand (I forgot the name), but it would kill my digestive system...I know some people eat the luna bar ones, but it seems their ratio is not the best for protein...Also if it could cost less than 2$ per bar it would great. Thanks!
Cold Fission
You can always make your own (check Mike Mahlers website for instruction) Organic food bar. They sell 1 with extra protein in it a few others. I am thinking about getting some myself because i was starving at work today and that did not do my growth good lol
gee
I've just looked at the Organic food bar, but there is quite a bit of sugar there (22g per bar).Although it is not cane sugar, but is it ok? As for making my own, I tried one day, 2 years ago, the result was... not that good. But I guess that means I can change it to myself as much as needed. Fallen_Horse
I think Clif Builder bars are great, but they have 20g sugar with 20g protein...

I second that. Organic Food Bar is great. No added sugar. Fruit sugar only. The ingredients in Clif Bars are horrible (e.g. soy protein isolate). I'd steer clear. gee
Maybe a stupid question, but I don't get how date sugar is ok. It's still simple sugar without the fiber that would come from the fruit no? As for the purefit it looks interesting! And what's wrong with Clif's or soy protein isolates?20g of sugar for 20g of protein is still better that what I used to buy (20g of sugar vs 10g of protein and 0g of fat...). Thanks people!
vegimator
You still get the fiber and vitamins. The whole dates are used as a sweetener. 20 grams of sugar is kind of a lot. A lot of us seek out non-soy protein powders/bars since we get enough soy elsewhere or have trouble digesting lots of soy. There's nothing inherently wrong with soy protein isolate though. gee
I got the purefit yesterday (took some time to ship...).It seems good. There is a positive point (well kind of) I can only eat one of those, more feels like too much because of the way the bar is, so I cannot digest too many grams of carbs in a few minutes anymore I tried the organic food bar ones at a store but I did not really like it.
