If so can you suggest a hotel that is close and not outrageous in price?

I went last year.

 

I got an excellent deal by going to one of those travel sites and getting a package (plane and hotel). Most of those sites, including hotels.com lets you sort by price and distance. They also have reviews. I wish I could remember the name of my hotel. It was a 20 min trip by the T from the airport and festival, but it was excellent and had a great scenic view by the water.

The building they held it in had trouble with their air flow for most of the event. It was HOT. Dress so you can take things off. It was made worse, especially in the lecture rooms, by the large number of people attending. I was told something like that happens every year.

 

Bring a reusable water bottle with you too. Not a lot of cheap drinks around.

 

If there is a speaker you particularly want to see get to the room early. Too many people, too few seats for most of the lectures.

I was there last year as well and I must say it was pretty toasty in there. Fun times. Lots of free samples everywhere.
