Nicholas_Weir
Yay!!! I was just in Woolworths reading the back label of Oreo cookies and they are vegan (they use soy milk instead of milk, whey or casein).

Scobra
After reading Vegan Freak I always felt guilty about eating oreos. I try to stay away from eating that crap, but on occasion they aren't terrible.

Richard
I had a look the other day at some oreos, and they were not vegan - that's in the UK, maybe elsewhere in the world they are, I don't know
Nicholas_Weir
Nicholas, you actually eat that stuff? Baby Herc No I don't; it isn't food in my books. I was just suprised that they didn't use actual dairy in the fiilling!

mrveggieman
Wow I'm glad that I am reading this. I remember reading on another veggie site that they are not vegan, but after reading this and doing some more research on my own I can now start eating them again guilt free. hsorlando
I know I discovered this a few years ago, and told a vegan friend of mine and now she's mad at me, lol.
Richard
Why do they make them with whey in the UK? It's the same product, why change it? It's things like this that make me glad that I have a Body Opponent Bag
viciousvixenx
Hmm... I know we aren't condemning each other over an Oreo.
chrisjs
In the US it depends on the type. I believe the reduced fat ones are ok but the normal varieties are not. The fudge creme ones in the plastic tray are ok, but the fudge creme ones in the box (which otherwise look like the same product) are not.

The normal varieties have been fine everywhere I've been in the US as a vegan. Not sure where they would differ. This also includes the double stuf(f?), Neapolitan, dippers, minis, etc. Best just to read the label.

VeganEssentials
Never really missed Oreos since there have been vegan alternatives (that I always thought tasted better) for over a decade since the day I changed my diet. Give me a box of Late July organic sandwich cremes any day of the week, might cost a bit more but the ingredients and flavor are WAY better in my opinion!
