Some people have more visible veins than others even if they have the same amount of bodyfat. Jay Cutler for example doesn't have many veins visible in his upper body even though he is incredibly lean and the second best bodybuilder in the world. I just think veins are usually a good measure of conditioning. They also give the illusion of having bigger mucles in some cases. In this photo for example. I'm not very big, but these veins will make me look much bigger than I really am.
