a bit of help...

Recommended Posts

i'm always at the gym and i gained well (5'9", 160lbs). i want to really get cut so my main question is what is the best protein to carb ratio in you diet? i remember reading about 1:1.5 or 1:2. like if you ate 100g protein you would eat about 150g or 200g carbs. is that correct? here is what i ate today. i know i need more protein (this is my first day actually counting) so besides that is everything else in order?

calories: 1642

calories from fat: 245

protein: 107g

carbs: 160g

thanks!

Hello Brett,

Everyone is different, so basing it off of that would be pretty hard. Body fat, Basal Metabolic Rate (the amount of calories you burn while at rest) and a lot of other things play into the factor.

Different gyms rely on different ratios. Some of the common ones are the 3-2-1 (3 parts carb, 2 parts protein, 1 part fat) and some are 20%-40%-20% (in the same order as before). There are a lot of different ways and there is not a "correct" way in particular.

You need to know a lot of things before hand before actually saying what you need.

i ate some more before bed so edit what i had posted to:

calories: 1882

from fat: 320

protein: 116g

carbs: 193g

thanks!

high fat cals. i would watch it if i were you. it can get quite old after a while, counting cals. sometimes i just want to say forget it, i don't need this, it's tired already. at 160 i would focus on getting more protein and complex carbs, if your goal is to build mass. 20 more lbs and you'll have all the ladies
