Mini Forklift
I try to stay away from peanuts as I'm of the opinion they're one of the 'unhealthier' nuts. Nutella and raisins though, now you're talking haha.
C.O.
hahaha, they guy that wants to stay healthy recommends nutella, love that. Peanuts aren't unhealthy, I learned about lectins which the paleos base their no peanut policy on. Not that most of the paleo people have any sense of what is actually healthy. Peanuts aren't even nuts they are actually legumes. http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/toxicagents/lectins.html -Dylan
Mini Forklift
Haha. No, I was more referring to the fact that peanuts contain some sort of fungus or toxin(s). I'd have to re-read up on it as I can't exactly remember, but it was on numerous sites and was enough to put me off them.I'm sure you could Google it Dylan and find what I'm talking about. I do agree Nutella isn't healthy, but all in moderation right ?!

Mercola's info is pretty credible IMO, the bolded parts are what I was referring to in terms of myself viewing them as not overly healthy, this is straight from their site: Peanuts Peanuts contain beneficial protein, but many people are allergic to them and find them hard to digest. They also contain aflatoxin, a carcinogenic, which may explain why peanut farmers have been found to have disproportionately high rates of cancer.Peanuts are high in fungus and, often, pesticides. They do not contain any omega-3, which can contribute to distorting your omega-6:omega-3 ratio. The peanut is actually a legume, not a nut (which is why they are often roasted).Peanuts contain about the same amount of protein as soy and are low in starchy carbohydrates. Peanut Butter When buying peanut butter, only buy organic varieties.Non-organic peanut butters are high in pesticides and fungus and contain aflatoxin, a potent carcinogenic mold.To increase the protein in peanut butter (peanuts have about the same amount of protein as soy), Brewer’s yeast can be mixed in. This is especially useful for vegetarians Sourced from: http://www.mercola.com/nutritionplan/foodalert.htm http://www.rawgreenninjas.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Candida-300x300.png
C.O.
Interesting info. I have noticed peanut butters have been one of the most recalled foods it seems too.
