finbarrio
Agreed - there's no way Sylvia is 5 inches taller than Arlovski.
BJJVegan
I couldnt believe Silvia knocked out Arlovski. I was literally in complete disbelief. It was a lucky shot, but Arlovski did go down and he def was not defending himself. I mean just puting your hand by your face isnt good enough to block punches. So i think the ref jumped in at the right time. As for the Forest Griffin fight. Griffin should have had that fight. Even though tito took him down in the last round he didnt land any clean shots. Forrest stopped them all and was able to get back to his feet. Forest should have took it for sure. Anyways i wanna thank robert for starting this discussion because MMA is my passion and i hope to someday be in that cage with "Big John Mcarthy" saying "Lets get it ON!!" I didnt think there would be anybody else into it on this board.
ronnie kray
we'll all be rooting for you bjj! i think the closest person we have to a vegan mma fighter is luke cummo, who eats organic, but not completely vegetarian. i still can't believe the outcome of the arlovski/sylvia fight. i guess i am just too big of an arlovski fan. i am still in shock. anyways, what i see in the future is that both fighters will have a couple of fights and maybe a year down the road or sooner, the big rematch! there will be so much hype it will be one of the biggest ufc ppv to date. forrest's heart and attitude is why he has so many fans. check out the interview. "i'll fight anybody... i'm not saying i'll win, but i'll fight him hard." anyone heard the under card for the next ppv? all i have heard so far is the main event of gracie vs hughes. finbarrio
Oh, and G Danzig is ripped and huge and healthy looking... I guess he is vegan! The Misfits - good call. I always kinda thought Mudvayne (who rock) ripped off the Misfits makeup -- before Mudvayne took the masks off that is.

sinisterkungfu
Anybody watch much Pride Fighting? Ive only watched a couple matches and they are pretty hard core. Can't say I watch much, but I have seen a bit of Pride. I'd like to check it out some more, I hear alot of people say their fighters are for the most part better than UFC's. From watching a few of Fedor and Aleksander Emilianenko and Mirko 'Crocop' Filipovic's fights I can see why they'd say that.
wannalift
Pride definitely has the best fighters in the world in their organization. UFC should take some lessons from them on proper compensation for thier fighters. While i love Pride, they have some flaws that they need to adjust: -get out of the ring and into a cage. this is just an opinion as i do see the logic to having the ring and trying to keep the action away from the ropes. -allow elbow attacks. why a 4 point attack is legal and elbows are not makes no sense at all. the fights become boring when the ground fighting is limited. -bad production. come one, i've seen wrestling on local access with comparable production value. again only hurting yourselves. -too many japanese fighters. i'm sorry, but the average japanese fighter in Pride is the wrestling equivalent to a jobber. there are good ones, even great ones like Gomi and Sakuraba, but thoese are the exception and not the median. JW
Hughes vs. Gracie predictions? I really like Matt Hughes but this one is going to be interesting.Hughes has publicly stated that his standup is much better than Gracies and he'll prove it in the fight.Makes me a bit nervous because Gracie has faced much better standup fighters than Hughes. On the otherhand, can Gracie deal with the strength of Hughes? It's almost freakish how Hughes can lift an opponent up from the guard position and powerslam him

It's almost freakish how Hughes can lift an opponent up from the guard position and powerslam him Gracie has only fought 3 times since 2000, coming off a loss to Sakuraba, and two of those were to a draw. He was a badass 10 years ago, but who's to say what age and lack of competing have done to him lately. It should be a pretty interesting fight, unless it turns out like Ken Shamrock vs. Rich Franklin.
finbarrio
I would LOVE if this was a good fight, but I think Hughes will beat him soundly. I think it will be a case of Hughes taking down Gracie, fighting for position, Gracie wrapping him up, stalemate, ref standing them up again. Lather, rinse, repeat. I'll take Hughes in a unanimous decision. Then again, I never thought Forrest would get out of the first round against Tito, so what do I know? BJJVegan
psch Gracie all the way. And Royce is still the badass he was 10 years ago.
JW
I was thinking about this again last night (Hughes vs Gracie)When Royce was dominating the UFC, BJJ was completely foreign to most of the participants. The competitors today are all well schooled in how to deal with the guard and submissions.I also think the 5 minute rounds work against BJJ fighters. Fin was probably bang on in his assessment thinking that Hughes would win a decision. As long as Hughes doesn't make a stupid mistake he should win this. SeaSiren
I'm not sure Gracie has ever fought someone who can hit as hard and as long as Hughes.
ronnie kray
i'm sure royce has not been slacking off in his time off from fighting. he every bit as dangerous as he was ten years ago. the problem here is i really don't see this fight being stand up. we all know it's going to the ground. what's worrying me is that both fighters are excellent at defending on the ground. it may just get to the point where both fighters are so good that neither can advance or submit the other. which may result in a boring fight. that would be a shame considering how much hype has been put into this fight. and if it goes to a decision, there is no way that they will not give hughes the win. he is the all american golden boy of the ufc. no way they would not give him the decision if it goes to the scorecards. still, i am rooting for royce gracie. BJJVegan
I really want Royce to win. But Matt is a damn good fighter. Royce is a real patient guy, but he tends to wait a little too much for 5, 5 min rounds. (Back in the early UFCs there was no time limit, so he could wait as long as he wanted). So i have a feeling its going to go to a decision. Unless Matt Hughes makes a big mistake that is. But you never know whats going to happen. Matt might get a lucky shot off in the first 5 seconds of the round and knock Royce out. Doubtful but hey it could happen.
The Mighty Haru
If I was a bettin' man I'd have to go with Matt. But I'm pullin for Royce. ANYTHING can happen in there! We've seen it time and time again. A guy I used to train with fought his second UFC fight against Patrick Cote and won via RNC, after receiving a pretty massive concussion. When Joe Rogan went to speak to him after , his corner man(Jerin) gave El Dirte his "Thank you list" for when he is on the mic, and he shook his head and said "No I've got gum, thanks". At the after party he was asking people how he won and shit. He was right out to lunch. Patrick rocked him hard and it looked like he was gonna lose it but he squeezed out a victory nonetheless. I hope and pray Royce can do the same.
Raw Ambition
I'd hafta agree with you Haru, Matt is the favored winner. But I have a question! Has anyone seen Royce fight recently? Has he been in the spotlight?? or is this his "return" fight? That may be a factor.... It's too bad you don't fight anymore, and I figure that your knees would be better if you didn't have to haul around so much lardo.... fat ass! Maybe you should try the whole raw thing, remember what it was like sprawlin with me?? had to nick name me "Gumby" SPEAKING of which, we still going halfers on the show?
