rinata77
Guys, can someone tell me where to start if you need to organize care for an elderly relative? Our situation is as follows: my grandfather started to have memory problems, plus he started to move worse. So far we are coping on our own, but it seems that we will not be able to do it for long. My sister works, I study, and he can't cope at home alone. I don't want to send him to a nursing home, but it's hard to pull everything out on our own. Maybe someone has already gone through this? melissared
I had a similar story with my father. I moved to the USA a couple of years ago, and when his health problems started, I had to think about how to organize everything. At first I tried to do everything myself - cooking, medication, hygiene. But I realized that it's hard to do everything without help, especially if you also work. Then I was recommended a home care agency called carepoint - they do home care, i.e. care at home. It's a very convenient option, because the specialists come directly to you, and everything can be organized in a flexible way. The main thing is that the person is more comfortable at home than anywhere else.
tonybil
This is an interesting topic. Fortunately, I do not have such a need yet, but I realize that it is a matter of time. Parents are not getting any younger, and sooner or later we will have to think about how to help them as sensitively and competently as possible. Such discussions are really useful - you can understand in advance what paths there are and what people face in reality.
