loveliberate
That should be "Loveliberate & Crew"! As usual, I'll be bringing family and friends whenever possible.
loveliberate
Wow Robert - That was a quick update! Where did ya get those numbers? On a good day, I may be able to bring a dozen folks out!
robert
I just made them up. I added up the family and got a range, and then just guessed a random number I think I'll actually be able to get more like 20+ involved but I put 10 just as another random number. Kathryn
Robert, If that Kathryn is me (someone's SO also has that name), I'm still a big "maybe," tending more toward "probably not."
robert
Hey Kathyrn, I think it is referring to you. I tried to use screen names to make it easier. I just listed the people who have expressed interest at one time or another. As it gets closer to the actual event, I'll edit the list, but there are a bunch of maybes on that list, so I left them for how (being hopeful I think)
Guest
Hey Muscle people(at one time I was one of you)...are there any cyclists going??? I'd love to ride around Portland and it would be nice to have some vegan company on my daily 3hr tour(assuming I can go). Also whats the deal with housing??? Student loans only go so far when your spending them on things outside of school.
robert
Sorry, I forgot to set this one to "registered" so your names comes up as Guest, but I'm "guessing" this is VeganPotter. Thanks for joining man. You should introduce yourself in the Introductions section. We'll see if we can get some cyclists to come out to join us
Guest
Just added an introduction...I think I called it has been vegan strongman or something:) Anyway hopefully some cyclists will jump on...or maybe a bodybuilder looking to build their legs up with some climbing. Aaron
Portland is host to a vegan cycling shop according to a guy I know who rides. I haven't been there but he seemed pretty sure it existed...
robert
Oh, I've been there. The guys name is Molly. He is a vegan cyclist and apparently he rules! I talked with him, in fact his store is carrying our movie too He confirmed that he is a pretty successful racer. Here is the info: http://www.veloshop.org/welcome.php WE ARE A VEGAN BUSINESS!There are vegan options and choices for every aspect of bicycling and we think that is just great! We try as best we can to only buy vegan goods and are open to input and suggestions. Besides promoting veganism, we put our money into businesses that are enviromentally and socially positive. WE RECYCLE EVERYTHING!I know for a fact we are the ONLY bike shop in the city that will patch your tube. In an effort to keep you rolling, reduce, re-use and, recycle. Veloshop still patches tubes and stocks the most economical innertubes in the city! Spend your last buck on some espresso! In the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon! The Oak st. block is reknown for it's tight creative/business community. A block east of Powell's bookstore and a myriad of AMAZING shops (see map), we moved to our space here over Halloween weekend 2003. As the shop crawls along, we are getting involved in our new neighborhood, see the events page for photos of our first art opening! Check out the site for more details. http://www.veloshop.org/welcome.php This is Molly's page, it would be awesome to have him at our event! http://www.veloshop.org/team_molly.php
loveliberate
Wow - I hadn't realized that they were a vegan bikeshop - that's awesome! Portland just gets cooler by the minute! Veganpotter, I'm sure housing can be arranged for you. Portland is consistently rated as one of the most bikeable / bike-friendly cities in the US - plus there are tons of country lanes &/or mountain logging roads surrounding the city. It would also be very cool for V.V. to have a bike maintenance and repair skillshare event.
Guest
Thanks a bunch...I actually knew of the shop but I completely forgot it was in Portland. This vacation thing keeps getting more points.
Guest
I'm pretty much 100%(aka 98%) sure I'm going now...I've just gotta wait for my student loans(already been accepted) so I can get my plane ticket...that or I'm gonna drive up with a buddy of mine if she can get off work for 9 days(long drive). Either way I should be there...can't wait to get on the bike in a state where the drivers don't seem to want to hit cyclists like here in Virginia. Anyway I'm super stoked...now who's gonna be my host:) I'm the perfect guest since I've slept on the floor without a pillow since middle school so I'm about as easy to accomodate as possible. I would however prefer it if my bike could get a really plush bedroom with a personal servant.
robert
Awesome! Remember we're going to help each person out a little....even if it is just like $20 or something....we promised to help each person a little bit with whatever our fund-raising will allow us to do. I get $20 from each DVD I sell, and I'll sell a bunch and donate the money to this fund raising cause. This is pretty cool......we announced the change of our location and in about a week we have more than 25 forum members, another 20 or so friend of forum members, nearly 10 special guests (members of the community and visitors) and lots of other people from different websites who have expressed interest. Let's see what next week brings!! We also anticipate the involvement in "some" of the events to exceed 100 members of the community (these will be for vegan potlucks and picnics open to anyone). Thanks for all the support. We're a gonna rock the Northwest!
Guest
I'll be fine once I get my loan...its way more than enough money the only problem is that I have to wait. I should have it by early next week at the latest...the loan service said it was be dispersed today so its just up to the school to take care of the rest. Anyway its such a privilage to be a part of this that my $20 or so can go to someone who may have trouble getting there at all. Plus I'm sure I'll eat my money's worth(free money)
