"Hardcore" Bodybuilding Forum Experiment

I can't remember if I ever did post the outcome of this...if I did I apologize.

I'm really not the type to go looking for debates but I wanted to try an experiment to see what would happen if I posted my achievements on the most notoriously critical "meathead" bodybuilding forum I could find.

The forum is called TESTOSTERONE NATION....I think that says it all, having said that , if I ate meat I think I would love this forum. This forum can be supportive but on the whole the members pretty much like to tear you apart in the rudest way possible.

My intention going into this was not to prove that I was athletically gifted or too promote Fruitarianism as I knew that the achievements I posted were of just me and my buddy having fun messing with some wieghts, I really wanted to just sit and wait to see how long it would take for the real hardcore guys to start tearing into my lifestyle and me as a person. I really wanted to see the worst of what society would throw at a Fruitarian in it's midst.

On this one I intentionally put myself in the "LION'S DEN" and I think I got off pretty lightly too.

Here's what happened.

I wasn't surprised at all by the responce I got and it was hard for me to stay detached from it all but as I said I got off prety lightly...

One thing that did surprise me was that to fuel the fire a little bit I posted a couple of body shots of myself and no one batted an eyelid...I was really expecting people to rip into me but no one did!

I haven't read all the responses yet, but thought the response to your fruitarianism was pretty positive, even some other veg*ns on the board. What they are cutting you down for is your form (which I can't see, because my at-home connection is too slow).

Well, I just read further!

You have to realize, though, that even raw foodism--let alone fruitarianism-- sounds a bit whacky to most people. The whole thing about foods being assimilated better because of the living enzymes (I don't know if you address that later, I'm just on page 3!) is not something that conventional nutrition even addresses.

I think they are pretty positive in general. Remember that fruitarianism and veganism is probably completely alien to most people. Just consider it a compliment when they start questioning if what you say is really true.

By the way, smart move posting the vids there. I think videos like that prove your point more than words could ever do. I myself am into thaiboxing and in this sport veganism gets a lot more respect than in other sports. Why? Because vegans kick ass.

edited to correct my poor use of grammar

It looked like it was going pretty well in general, but went to shit a bit when you started just posting articles and resources instead of answering their questions. I thought you would get more of a beating than you did though. I think it would be good if you responded again, just to show that you were not some 'fictional' character or troll. There must also be days that you eat more than just orange juice and a few bananas no?

Yeah...that's just peoples defense mechanisms....

I get that a lot from Vegans too.

Infact one person said that by posting all my personal bests on this forum I'm just asking for skeptisim...and that they were sick and tired of me ramming fruitarianism down their throat.

so what does this mean...does it mean that Raw Vegans are just supposed to sit in a corner and keep their mouths shut or that all Raw Vegans are liars and are not capable of achieving anything fitness related.

A lot of times it seems that you can't win...when you answer peoples questions then your trying to convert everyone and if you don't then your a liar.

This isn't just my experience either this happens to raw guys I know that aren't even into fitness.

But I'm not into lying or hiding my identity just to avoid people finding out that I eat Raw foods, infact I'm real proud of my achiements.

It's really hard on me sometimes because I like to share my achievments but when I do all people wanna focus on is what I eat and then you gotta go through the whole dis-belief process and that gets so boring after a while. I'm not about convincing people to be raw vegan at all but I will post about health concerns because I care about peoples health and not because I wanna turn everyone raw. The real funny thing is that out in the street no one even knows that I eat raw except one close friend and my internet buddies on the forums. I think this forum is one of the most accepting of the fitness forums and I think that that's why a lot of high raw vegans are coming here.

I think this forum is one of the greatest, because I can't think of any time sometime said something sarcastic and derogatory at the same time. We joke about each other, but nothing like what you get when you visit a lot of meat eating forums.

I've been bashed too in several forums. One thread I answered once was a question for "What are good protein sources that you guys eat?" Everyone said, "Just eat, eat, eat, eat lots of meat", and then I said "I adhere to a vegan diet, so I get a lot of rice, grain, beans, nuts, seeds, and other good protein sources that even could make good side dishes with the meat everyone else was suggesting (Yes, I went that far)", and they all said that "I should be careful not to grow breasts eating soy" and that I was a "Pussy", because I didn't eat meat. This is why outside of my own interest in staying fit, and this forum, I really don't have an interest in bodybuilding.

I think with stuff like this, you should always keep an open mind to an extent, and allow yourself to hear other people's opinions and reactions to you. However, once you have heard their opinion, you can appraise it logically and see if you're doing anything wrong IE being a big-head, or lying etc. If you feel, after consideration, that you're not being a big-head and that they haven't given good enough evidence to prove that you are, then for the time being you shouldn't worry about it. I personally like reading your posts, and your personal-bests are inspiring rather than irritating. You are supportive of other people and enthusiastic about what other people are achieving. Big-heads are generally self-centred with regard to this, and are only interested in their own achievements. So I wouldn't worry, it sounds like those people are immature and not being fair / reasonable.

People have an AUTO DEFENSE RESPONDER. For anything & everything.

It could be between 2 different views on Medecine, Technology, Business, Religion, Diet, Lifestyle, Democracy.

Dont let it faze you.

When my Lacto-Veg ass was being whooped here by everyone (esp CG ) I realized that everyone has views. Best is to share yours and kick back. Some of the audience will pick it up 100% Some 0% and some in the middle.
