Matt
Just met Craig Calfee of Calfee Design. What a beautiful bike this is. Be sure to click on the pic of the bike to get the enlarged version! http://www.calfeedesign.com/bamboo.htm
finbarrio
Beautiful. I'd be nervous as hell getting on it for the first time, but very nice looking.
Matt
I'm going to try to test ride one. I'll let you know. Also need to find out how secure they are put together. I have a pre-conception that they don't seem very sturdy, but I probably need to be educated on the benefits of bamboo...
loveliberate
I'm fairly certain that the Chinese use bamboo for all kinds of heavy duty applications. I think I've seen photo's of hand & bike carts, hard hats & construction frameing - but that was on one documentary that I watched years ago so I'm not real sure... Over40
The closest dealer is 250 miles away. And if I brought home a $2000 bamboo bike my wife would beat me with my graphite fly rod. They really are intruiging though. And a previous psoter was correct, in South East Asia and China bamboo is used for an incredible number of "heavy jobs" including building scaffolding.
