RookieV
This is my first thread so bare with me I've been reading other posts for almost a month now. I started training and dieting almost 2 weeks ago. I lift heavy two times a week, Im eating around 2000-2400cals a day. I have a few problem areas. Like I have a huge spare tire and my thighs. I started jogging for 30 mins on off nights, to lose the probelms. Im worried that all the cardio will it effect my recovery. Basically what Im trying to say is. Should Eat less and do less cardio or keep the cardio the same with same diet??? Im trying to gain muscle/strength and lose fat at the same time. trying to maximize my muscle gains and fat losses Sunday - jog 30min Monday- jog 30min Tuesday- Lift Wednesday - jog 30mins Thursday- Lift Friday- jog 30mins Saturday - Day OFF Current: 215 Goal: 180 lean! 12 weeks
Richard
I don't think you'd interfere with recovery time like that nah. Only if you did say a heavy back workout on Tuesday, then Wedesday did heavy rowing workout. Then your back would be worked twice in a row heavily. But a 30 minute jog, that should be fine the following day even after heavy leg training, in my opinion. Do you feel fatigued, or feel pain? Guest
Unless your huge and trying to get even bigger 30 minute jogs are far too short to impede muscle growth...if it was more like an hour maybe that would do it.

Guest
No prob...this place is great and you can ask whatever you want no matter how normal or weird it is...sometimes you may get goofball(maybe from me) answers but mostly good ones
Raw Ambition
I've always had trouble getting rid of that fat around the belly. And I used to do some serious interval cardio... The problem was that all I ever ended up doing was get smaller all around, smaller arms, smaller legs, smaller chest, etc. I never really did change my appearance. A better approach for myself was to completely eliminate "cardio" training altogether (at least for right now) and have increased the frequency of my weight training to compensate. What about the fat burning effects of cardio training?? If one were to shorten their rest intervals during weight training, one could theoretically increase their cardiovascular system. I know that after a good set of deadlifts, followed by a good set of squats, I can barely stand, my chest is pounding so hard and I'm gasping for breath - kinda like when I'm doing some sprint training! This way, I can continue to stimulate new growth in muscle tissue, while at the same time, burn off extra bodyfat... it just may work!
Guest
I think its more of a blood pressure thing(rather than heart rate) when lifting with shorter rest...thats assuming your not pumping reps.
