JW
I've been pretty quiet for a while due to some self imposed downtime. My stomach has been acting up a bit.either a flu or possibly yeast buildupnothing like uncomfortable gas and bloating. I've been waiting it out a bit to see if it is a flu because the yeast elimination diet really isn't much fun. (although it would be a healthy thing for me) Watched the Superbowl yesterday (actually only about half of it) The first quarter was by far the most entertaining for me. JW
Sports. Why is it that so many people live and die for sports? Noam Chomsky once postulated that the government actually promotes sports beacause it takes people's minds off of political and social issues. Why do we let sports dictate our very moods?Any city with a sports franchise that loses a big game seems to have a black cloud over it. Why do we insist on paying such large sums to sit and watch sporting events? There have been many theories about the importance of sports as escapism, a mode of social interaction etc....but why can people (sports fans) not see how truly unimportant sports are in the grand picture? I love sports but there is a limit to my madness.I just can't justify spending more than $25 for a ticket(maybe I'm just cheap )I re3cently priced out a Toronto Raptors game for when I'm in Toronto on business. $170 plus agency fees plus taxes!!!! I could go see a university game, have dinner and still donate some money to charity!! Insanity runs rampant!!!!!!!
JW
Well, I'm back from Toronto and I'm on my 3RD WEEK of this nasty virus!!!!Seems like everyone has the flu or a cold around here. I'm just now starting to regain some energy. (I guess the insanely busy schedule at work and at home haven't exactly helped much) Funny how when you are sick, things annoy you more.Seems like there's something new that annoys me each day My latest is ..... a busybody person who just loves the office gossip. What an incredible WASTE OF TIME!!!! One day I'm just going to snap on this person!!! Hasn't he got better things to do than spread rumours and stories about people?I really think this person is one of those who doesn't have enough work to do and constantly tries to legitimize his position and how important he is. The gossip reinforces to him just how "important and knowledgeable" he is to have such an information network. aaaaaaarrrrggggghhhh! (okay..... I feel marginally better now)hmmmm maybe it's not from being sick........maybe I'm getting old and crotchety

JW
My son had his first date on the weekend!!! apparently a bunch of kids were talking about going to a movie together. My son and a girl in his class both like each other so he asked her to go with him. This sent off a massive amount of screaming and jumping around with his classmates.A crowd rushed over to him and asked "does this been that she's your girlfriend"?He responded with "You'd have to ask her".The crowd rushed over to her and asked the same question... She said "yes"The crowd rushes back to my son, relays the information and asks the question again. He says "Yes" and now they are a 6th grade coupleSimple as that. I can't believe I live my life through a bunch of 6 graders now
Guest
So long as you don't go on double dates and start making out at the movies with a group of teenagers you should be fine
finbarrio
There was a story in the news today about two 6th graders having sex in school. Be glad that your son is still in the "she's my girlfriend, but I don't actually talk to her" stage.

Guest
At my elementary school(years after I left) they were forced to cut some trees down near the soccer fields due to rumors of kids making out and stuff...well that later cut down mostly all of them over 2" in diameter since they actually caught a second grader going down on a third grader...or was it a third grader going down on a second grader Either way kids in my area sure do get it on early...good thing you Canadians don't learn about sex until your upper classmen in college

JW
taking a brief break from the soap opera surrounding my son's lovelife,my indoor soccer season is almost to an end. It's been pretty successful in that I have remained INJURY FREE!!!!!!!!! Played last night and although we were pasted 8-2 by the top team in our division, I scored both goals. At least I can take some solace in that I can still hang with the young guys.
