Brilliant taste. Have you heard this: The Hood Internet vs Tobacco vs Aesop Rock

Why? - Alopecia

Skream - Watch the Ride

Benga - Diary Of An Afro Warrior

Hadn't heard it, but am downloading the show right now to check out later. Thanks for the suggestion!

This past week has been a period of mourning for XM station 65 - seriously the ONE good hip-hop station they have, and it gets chopped to make way so that G-Unit's new channel can be their main point of reference. Spent about 4 hours listening to it, enjoyed perhaps 5 minutes of that time, will be putting in my cancellation to XM promptly once I get to the office. One damned station I like, and they have to go ahead and cut it out to make way for some crap that will be playing Lil Wayne and T-Pain tracks over and over again...

i didn't know that. interesting, thanks.

no, i would never listen to hip hop at the gym i think. i said somewhere on here before that i would love to listen to some hardcore at the gym but i don't want to bring my mp3 player anymore cause it got annoying to carry that thing with me while working out. atm they're playing a lot of techno at the gym, which is cool sometimes but can get really annoying, too.

I just post whatever my playlist is for the gym here usually. I always listen to hip-hop at the gym. I used to have ruff riders vol 1. on my mp3 player for almost a year not even because I think it's a good album, just because the lyrical content is so ignorant it gets me amped for a workout. I can't even finish a workout if I don't have my mp3 player.

Agreed. On both points. Lately it's been a lot of El-P and Talib Kweli (and some old Wu). But if the iPod dies mid-workout (which is likely, since it's 3+ years old and the hard drive tends to ... stick), I go from revved-up to tired and pissed immediately. If it happened mid-squat, I could be killed.

Tonight -

DJ Shadow - Excessive Ephemera

C-Rayz Walz - Ravipops

Quasimoto - The Unseen

Ohmega Watts - The Find

In addition to that, I've been sobbing inside my head over the news that 'Lil Wayne received 8 Grammy nominations. Not that a Grammy means anything, really, but that sack of crap got EIGHT nominations?!? Seriously, I think that this truly could be the 7th sign of the apocalypse to forecast our impending doom. Either that, or people really have lost all sense over what hip hop is. I'm still trying to figure out which one it is.
