Or the Beach?

Michelle suggested a place to me a while back and I can't recall the link but as I was searching for places that can accomodate around 20 people I found this:

also this

It's 90 minutes from Portland and overlooks the Ocean.

So, it's just a possibility.

Hood River = Mountain/Gorge town

Portland = Metro City

Lincoln City or other Coastal City = Beach location.

I think my vote would still be Hood River, but I'm just putting some other options out there.

We'll still do Portland for part of the trip, I'd rather be out of the "big" city, in a much smaller "get-away" town.

Thoughts on:

Mountain, Beach or Metro area?

Here's the link:

The house itself looks awesome for multiple reasons: pool table, seven bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, playstation 2, wireless internet, and privacy fence around the hot tub. (do check out that link... lots of photos)

Drawback being a 2hr drive to Portland, according to google maps, and I couldn't find much else about the town.

Yeah, it is a great idea. I think we'd like to be a bit closer. Hood River is just about an hour from the airport, maybe 55 minutes because it was exactly an hour from my house and we're a bit further than the airport.

Thank you so much for helping me look!

This is what the place looks like:

I hadn't looked too closely at it, but Wow! That place is pretty amazing!

What town is it in?

Actually it's not too expensive if you break it down:

$4165.00 for the week.

Let's say there are 25 of us (we expect more) that would only be $166.50 per person for the whole week. That is just $23 a day! Very cheap!

It's just not as close to Portland as I'd like, but we should consider it.

Do you know what town or city?

As far as I can tell from poking around their website, it appears to be in Lincoln City.

Oh cool, that was one of our options I just came up with.

Personally, as far as a city goes, I'd still pick Hood River, but maybe I need to make a trip over to Lincoln City soon to scope it out.

Ultimately, the people who attend will decide and I'll just sort out the details.

That place you found looks awesome! And as everyone can see, it really isn't that expense. I figure we could afford something even up to $10,000 a week, but I'm sure we don't need anything too extreme. It's just finding a place BIG enough, and those happen to be around the $3,000-$7,000 a week range, which we can handle $15-$35 a day.

Plus, we'll fundraise, get sponsored by companies donating free food, and we'll be staying for almost FREE!......I hope.

Just bumping this up to consider staying in Lincoln City for 3-4 days to get all the accomodations we're looking for and have room for all of us.

Then we'd head to Portland for the remainder of the Vegan Vacation. We could easily do day trips to Hood River if a group of us wanted as well. It is only an hour. Leave 9 or 10AM have the entire day there come back in the evening

I'm off to bed, but please take a look at some of the Lincoln City places and see if we can manage something like that for a "getaway" destination for 3-4 days to get to know each other, bond and all be together before coming over to the Rose City (Portland).

I like these ones best (mostly because they have a hot tub!)

That was a big reason for me too.

The place in general sounds really cool. I think it can sleep up to 24 and of course, some of us will share rooms, share beds, and the square footage will allow so many more people too, if they let us have them.

Maybe I'll inquire about availability soon. Any other favorite places out there or anywhere near the Portland area for a 4-day retreat?

I don't mind the floor. In fact, I prefer it.

I'm cool with sharing rooms and/or beds. If we run out of space and someone doesn't mind a firm, narrow sleeping space... I will have my massage table with me.

Disclaimer: I tend to snore loudly, and sometimes I drool. You've been warned!

I say if we like one of these places we all buy it together...if all the forum members pitch in it'll be like $40 a month for each of us and it can be a permanent meeting place
