robert
Hey, This place is available for July 28-31st http://www.seahavenrentals.com/puffins.html This is the place we've been talking about. The renter is super nice! She said it's available and I asked about a 5th day in case we wanted it and she said it would be available for that too! So anyway, we need to make a $595 deposit to hold the spot ASAP. This place is 2 hours from Portland but I figure that we'll pick everyone up from the airport on Friday or earlier and then we all head over there on Saturday to begin our adventure Together! Here is what we have to do: 1. Find out exactly how many days to stay on the coast: I say 4 or 5, then come to Portland for the next week+ staying at forum member homes. 2. Come up with $595 right away (I can't use my credit or debit card because I'm broke at the moment). I'm sure we can come up with a solution fast. Awesome! This should rock! Is everyone OK with staying here for 4 or 5 days hanging out together and doing all kinds of cool stuff before heading to Portland to do even more cool stuff? Michelle
Woohoo!!! Hottub... errrrr... Oregon Coast here we come!! Four or five days sounds good to me. Of course, my vote goes to five, but I'm happy either way. Anyone who is thinking of coming, head over to this thread right now and leave a deposit via paypal, so Robert can reserve the place! I sent mine like a week ago.

The renters were happy to hear we were VEGAN too! They thought it was super cool and knew we'd be good guests Yay us! YES, please make a deposit if you can, and we'll use that money to reserve the place. I will call them back tomorrow with updates. Thanks! P.S. I'll start a poll for how many days we should be at the Coast 4, 5, 6 or other. Thanks again. We're moving forward now!
Zack
I can't make a deposit right now. I have $3.50 total in both my bank accounts. Sorry.
xdarthveganx
people really need to get on this if this is all going to come together.
robert
Yeah, no worries, we'll get it all sorted out soon. Ironically, I haven't made my desposit yet and I'm not able to due to lack of funds as well. I understand the situation many of us are in, so no worries. But I also understand the sense of urgency to get $595 together asap to reserve this place. If I were in a better financial position, I'd just put it on my Visa card and get money from everyone later, but I can't do it right now. So, we have about 30 people on the list planning on attending, so surely there are some people who can drop in that $100 now? I'll send out some e-mails tonight because I am VERY interested in booking this place ASAP. It seems pretty much perfect for us! Thanks everyone! robert
Yeah me too, but we'll get it taken care of soon. Exciting though, hey? I really feel like this is a major step moving forward. Now, we just need people to vote for how many nights ASAP! I will call them tomorrow saying that we'll make our down payment on Monday.

michaelhobson
Okay dude, just paypaled you a hundred bucks. I guess that only half covers the two of us, but it's the best we can do on short notice. We'll put up the rest when we can.
robert
That is awesome! I just spoke with them last thing on Friday before they closed the office and they said if we call first thing Monday Morning with $595 as a down payment, it's ours! It's a great start to our major planning and nice to know we have this awesome house lined up for 4 or 5 nights. I'll see what the voting results are by Sunday night and then we'll decide on that. Thanks again. All of these contributions really help us get this first step taken care of. In Portland for the remaining 6 days of the Vegan Vacation (after the 4 days at the Beach House) we'll stay with forum member families for free so costs should be pretty low in general). Right on, anyone else able to contribute a little now to help us get that $600 we need by Monday?

Guest
I'm definately game for air hockey. I used to play for nearly and hour a day when I played ice hockey...my brother worked at the ice rink and he had a key so at night we'd unlock the machine so we could use the same quarters

It means we are quite serious about coming! If all goes according to plan, we will be pretty well financed for the summer. If for some reason we can't come, we will be donating our space to someone who can make it. AND AS FOR AIR HOCKEY! I am the reigning world champion of vegan air hockey, as crowned at the 2005 Vegan Fitness week. I suppose I simply must come to Vegan Vacation to defend my title! You goys and girls are going down. robert
I've heard about your abilities on the Air Hockey Table. Just as I had heard about your massive forearms. I don't fear either. But I anticipate battle!
michaelhobson
I've dug up a photograph of the historic occassion. Thanks to Kathryn for the photo. Notice the massive forearms in action and the intense concentration of a skilled athlete. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/michaelhobson/remoteImage-15.jpg
