robert
John Robbins and I had an epic arm wrestling match recently. He is much stronger than most people think. At age 60 he is getting personal best lifts and he's benched around 250lbs, etc. He's is great shape and totally ripped! Last weekend he challenged me to an arm wrestling match after VegFest. Of course I couldn't back down. My mother was there too (she is in the background laughing). We exchanged a lot of words: Me: "This is what happens when you inspire the younger generation!" John: "Respect your elders!" And on and on it went for 1-2 minutes as we battled it out and fatigue became a factor. It was a good time. He held on for a while but in the end, down went Robbins His books Diet For A New America, Food Revolution, and Healthly at 100 have inspired many and have helped change the world for the better. I'm honored to have met him and to have defeated him in arm wrestling Enjoy the match up! http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/RobbinsCheeke1.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/RobbinsCheeke2.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/RobbinsCheeke3.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/RobbinsCheeke4.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/RobbinsCheeke5.jpg

robert
John is a fan of Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness and sends a lot of people here to check out our website. We were talking about bodybuilding and I took my sweatshirt off to flex for him and then he took his shirt off and challenged me to arm wrestling.......I could have turned the other Cheeke, but I accepted and took him on. It was a lot of fun. He thanked us for what we do to promote veganism as healthy, strong athletes.

Robert what about wiping the other cheeke? or smacking the other cheeke? or the myriad of other variations that involve the cheeke? LOL
robert
Those could be potential book chapters.........some of you know about my current book project....I need lots of reminders to keep on it and get it completed! Anyway, yes there are lots of things you can do with Cheeke. Just don't arm wrestle me as JR found out. My left arm is much stronger than my right too! Guest
Now Robert all you have to do is arm wrestle him when your 60 for the next rematch. He looks incredible. I knew he was in shape but I didn't think he looked that good.
robert
John is a great guy, likes our website, and is very fit and strong! It was fun to arm wrestle him. I'm not that great at it, but I'm OK. My left arm is pretty strong and I beat most people when it's on the left side. Spring and summer is an incredible time for me. I have so much fun at VegFests, Festivals, Fairs, Conferences, etc. It's fun on a number of levels. On a personal level, it's great for me to sign autographs, pose in photos, and all that fun stuff that comes as a result of many years of hard work. I also get to meet up with friends I only see once or twice a year (like VeganEssentials on our forum). I also sell more clothing items and DVDs than I do during any other time of year. I also get to travel more than any other time, so I just really enjoy spring and summer! Of course we cap it off with Vegan Vacation so this time of year is as good as it gets for me. I'll try to arm wrestle others, but I'll shoot for those under 60. John was too tough, I don't want to go through that again! My arm was sore for 2 days afterwards. LizWorld
Whoa, he's in a great shape and for being 60 that is bloody awesome. I have to show them pictures for my dad - I always tell him it's never too late and that he too can look like 30 being 60...
robert
I just participated in Outside Magazine's "Stay 30 Forever" tour. I'm not quite 30 but I'm staying there forever I guess.......it was fun. We just promoted healthy eating and exercise. I did a presentation called, "Thrive on a Plant-Based Diet" and I represented OrganicAthlete and Vega. It's funny, with eating properly and exercising properly and having low amounts of stress, etc. you can look and feel very well at nearly any age. Brendan is now 32 and still looks like he's 17. I'm not sure if that is a good thing, but it's a pretty good thing. Another vegan friend of mine (mostly raw) is 38 but looks like she's 27 like me. John Robbins is a cool guy. pelicanAndrew
Veganism really does have some age defying side effects. I know my skin has gotten much smother and cleaner since i went vegan. That's awesome that you got to arm wrestle John Robbins.
plantstrong
Apparently John Robbins likes to arm wrestle! Here he is arm wrestling Rip Esselstyn of the Engine 2 Diet.

robert
All part of the sport, right? Gotta get those angles down, use your shoulder, etc. Ask Rob BigWood, he's one of the best in the world and vegan John is tough! Seriously! He was benching 245lbs in he's 50's on a fairly small (but super ripped) frame. He's done amazing things for this movement. Can't say enough great stuff about the guy. He changed and saved so many lives!
