Gaia
Try doing the jump thru in water, to help get your hips up high enough and build the abs strength to do it.

Gaia
Can you do a handstand without a jumping up or kick up motion? Using only your abs to lift your legs up? All the while going from a downward dog to a foreward bend motion. You have to be able to keep your hips up over your shoulders as your legs fold in, and then swing your folded legs thru your strong arms, all the while the pivot of the movement is with your hips way up, and abs pulled toward your spine.David Svenson's book on Ashtanga, series 1 shows the mechanics of the the jump thru.I think you will have to find what works for you. There is the handles that you can use to lift your front up high enough to get your legs thru till your abs can hold the legs in. And a private with a teacher can show you other ways that might work for your body type and maybe some other interesting ways of getting the jump thru.Good luck!
