soaking and sprouting

I just bought a pound of lentil beans. I had no idea they are so cheap! I paid like $0.79

anyway how do I soak and/or sprout these lentils?

and for how long do I soak them before I can eat them?

when I put them in a container, do I cover it with a lid?

and also, do I put the beans in complete darkness, some light, or direct sun?

somebody please fill me in.

All you need to do is soak them for 24hrs(12 is enough if they aren't too old but you have no idea how long the store has had them)...then drain and rinse. After that...re-rinse them every 12hrs and drain them and in a 2.5-3 days you have sprouts.

You all make it sound so easy! I am trying sprouting for the first time. I'm doing chickpeas. Someone told me they are not the easiest to do??? If this doesn't work you'll be hearing from me!! Anyone ever sprouted almonds, i hear they are delicious, let me know...

Almonds normally don't really sprout because they are virtually never raw. You can buy them germinated and dried sometimes but sprouting "raw" almonds isn't gonna do anything other than maybe change the taste a bit.

I looked it up and you are right, the almonds don't sprout. If yu soak them overnight they swell and get softer and they consider that sprouting almonds. They taste amazing like this, i tried it.

My mom used soak them overnight for us by keeping in a cup of water (in the fridge - India / outside weather might be too warm / hot).

We used to have it with a glass of milk in the morning.

I was wondering, the same thing with the sprouting. After they are sprouted do they taste alright eaten raw. I am mostly a raw foodist, and would like to eat them raw if possible. I have been eating raw for about three months now and was just curious to how palatable raw sprouted beans and/or lentils would be.
