Gaia
Thanks for the info! I guess I will have to throw out my canola oil that I have in my kitchen. I thought I was safe in that it was organic (which means it isn't a GMO, supposedly), but even organically grown rapeseed has natural toxins in it already which no body needs to have. How about grapeseed oil? That is my favorite oil, right next to olive oil for light sauteing and baking. I use flax and hemp oil also, but I use them cold and think of them more like supplements, then just food. Brainwashed by the media .
Odidnetne
I don't eat canola oil anyway. I never believed that it was safe anyway. I stray from the bottled oils, that's best for you.
SyrLinus
Hrmm.. I was looking at Vegenaise and noticed it had canola oil. They referenced this link: http://www.spectrumorganics.com/index.php?id=15#j34 for more info on it. So which is correct?
veganmonk
That's interesting info from Spectrums website, however we always have to be careful about statements made from those who are out to make a profit from something. For example:http://www.nationaldairycouncil.org/NationalDairyCouncil/Health/Digest/dcd75-3Page1.htm According to the Canola Council, 80% of the crops are GE now:http://www.canola-council.org/cooking_myths.html I think it is just safer to stick to non man-made products like flax seeds, olives, and grapes! Vegenaise sells a grapeseed oil version which I buy instead and it tastes much better too =)http://www.followyourheart.com/vegenaise_nutrition.php The only problem is Canola oil is in everything and seems to have the market in control... Peace Cereals, Earth Balance (except for the "soy garden" version), and tonnes of other foods, making it hard to avoid all the time =( I hope these companies can eliminate canola... CollegeB
I am thinking of the Southpark song "Blame Canada" I found it very interesting that they tied canola oil into the larger global population control initiative being undertaken by governments. Great website as a whole. I'm watching all of the video articles! Edited August 2, 2007 by CollegeB

Yup. Everything is our fault. LOL I think the video drew a line along where things seemed to match/fit. How accurate that is I dunno. As my uncle always said, when it comes to the truth, there are multiple sides to it. And somewhere in those sides combined is the truth.
Hero
WOW I never knew what Canola oil was. I used to use it a lot in cooking stir-fried veggies and curries. I will most def make sure I stay away from it.
