October 29 - contest day!

Recommended Posts

Alex,

Your abs kicked ass - and we all know how much CG loves abs. It's all about the abs, baby (at least for me). Too bad the judges didnt feel the same way I do. That guy's abs were shit.

But, you are right, his arms were a bit bigger. I think that is the only "advantage" he had over you.

You'll get' em next time. For now, congratulations on being second!

Thanks everyone for the feedback

Nat It's all about the abs The abs really were his main weakness

Jza, i appreciate your opinion

I was disappointed, because backstage, when not posing, the guy looked crap. That is the only thing i knew before seeing the pics today at home. You don't see the others standing at your sides. I was sure i was gonna win.

But he was not bad, i can not really say that. He had advantadges, but i had mine. As i said, we had a "play-off" (is that the right word?) after we were tied. He was better when doing the standard poses. He had a wider waist, not a good V-shape, but he was a good athlete, i agree.

Well, i just have to work on my weaknesses now.

And next month it's the figure-class - maybe that will be better...

Wow Alex, you look amazing!

Without a doubt your abs look way better, as do your lats. Much larger. That guy is definitely good competition, but I think you should have had it! (And I don't say that just because I personally think you're awesome. The pics prove it)

Congratulations are in order anyway though! Anytime vegan fitness is out there proving what it's all about, we all win!

Time to chow down and kick back now right?

Congratulations Alex!

You looked awesome man! Great color, great shape, great conditioning, etc.

And of couse, awesome display of Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness. You repreresent the lifestyle very well.

Thanks for posting all the photos. K-oz did a great job of capturing the day for all of us who were unable to attend.

I think in 2006 or 2007, we should hit the stage together Me, You, Topher 3 Vegan Bodybuilders sharing the same stage! maybe we'd finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd (who knows which order we'd be in) and really put Vegan Bodybuilding on the map and be a force to be reconed (sp) with.

Awesome job mate, and I'm glad you were able to compete and I'm happy I was able to assist in the ways that I did.

When do you plan to compete again? Spring or Summer or Fall of next year?

How about coming out to the US to share the stage with Me, Topher and Big Ben, if I can get him to get back up on stage????????

Thanks again for the report of the show, and congratulations!

Thank you Richard

Thanks Michelle!

Your appreciation here really means something to me.

Hey Rob - don't babble, post your own results, i'm so damn curious!

Hey, thank you for the kind words

When do you plan to compete again? Spring or Summer or Fall of next year?

In three weeks

Next year, in fall again. I hope to bring 3 more kilos with better definition, so build 4 kg of solid muscle until then.

Yea, that would be awesome!

In two weks there is a WNBF contest in the US that i could attend - only that i'd have to pay the flight and the hotel myself. So i'll wait until next year.

Now, don't drive me crazy - where are your pics and report?

Hey Alex,

Which show is in 3 weeks?

I was also asked to compete again in 2 weeks in California, but I just can't afford the trip.

Once my movie comes out next month I should have more money and will be able to compete more often. As you know, competing (the whole process involved) can be VERY expensive. The entry fees, hotels, drug tests, etc. are all just one part of it. I spent around $100 just in tanning products and new posing trunks.

Where is the WNBF show? I hope to attend a bunch of shows next year!

I started a NEW thread about my contest. I also came in 2nd place. I will get photos up soon. I may not be able to for a couple of days because I don't have my computer and I'm back to work full-time. In fact I have to work a graveyard shift tonight and tomorrow night (11:30PM-8AM) to make up for the 3 days I had off to travel and compete down in California.

In my contest it was somewhat close, but the guy was bigger than me. He used to be 280, then 240, then 188 contest day. The heaviest I've been ever is 193, so he had a major bulk advantage over me.

But as you know, a major part of bodybuilding is competing against your prior self, and I think this was the best I've ever looked, so to me, that is Winning! To continue to improve and put your best physique out there is succeeding. I didn't "win" the show, but I was at MY BEST and that is the most important thing.

Best of luck in your upcoming show!

-Robert

I think you had several advantages over the winner Alex, it's just that you never know. Sometimes you get the mass judges (size is everything), then you can equally get the condition judges (where how ripped is the thing). Luck really, you could have taken him with a different judge or two. I think you did really fantastic mate & 2nd is nothing to sneeze at!

Enjoy your non-dieting (for a day )

Thanks Will,

We do our best to build our physique to represent our lifestyle since we are in the public eye up on stage.

For years I've worked to be some sort of a role model for other vegans. I hope I've done a good job. I know I'm not the biggest or best vegan athlete, I just try to show that you can build muscle on a vegan diet just like you can on other diets. I'm glad that I've met so many people through this website and other websites who have awesome vegan physiques.

More and more vegan athletes are emerging all the time and it is pretty exciting to see.

-Rob
