  1. I think, as DV said, that what has an adverse effect on one person is fine for another. Again, it has to be up to the individual to decide what works and is acceptable for them. I have maintained a high protein/low carb diet (using protein powders on a nearly daily basis) for 44 years. (yes, since I was 11). I am still in good health and don't suffer from "protein poisening". But that is what seems to be working for me. Chacun à son goût . . .
  2. I will ask my wife about the certification courses in this area . . . I think that you might want to get certified for both mat and equipment . . . this can give one a broader client base. Many gyms have mat Pilates, but the equipment Pilates sessions earn you more money. Do be careful of Body College certification courses (Bodymind) . . . although quick, inexpensive and short, they are a somewhat flakey organization. You might wat to try a Gyrotonics session as well to see if it interests you as well.
  3. Hi Roy, I'm in the DC area as well . . . my wife is a personal trainer in Pilates and Gyrotonics. This is her at work (http://www.corestudiosinc.com/gyrotonic.html). She makes a good living. Specialized equipment is still doing well even in this economy, as many of her clients are wealthy. Most Gyrotonic and Pilates trainers are female, so the male teachers are in demand. Certification in Pilates is easier than in Gyrotonics. I work in video production . . . I have my own company so I can usually make my own schedule.
  4. I hear that penguin tastes a lot like fish . . .
  5. Joe, I would have voted for you, but my memory, mind and eyesight are going fast, so I either can't remember to vote, can't see the screen, or forget what I am . .. . ..
  6. Dr. Pink is correct . . . Dv got my vote! (although Offence was a very close 2nd)
  7. Hey Mr. Robert, looking quite great! (no surprise there!) Hope you and Green get top honors! Rainra, I can't find my black pumps, so I don't think that I can "walk the walk" without them.
  8. I think that I will coin some "Jalleelisms" . . . Flintstone propriatory blend for bulimic bodybuilders. (Jalleel Alliteration)
  9. This specific proprietary blend has been painstakingly crafted to make them money.
  10. So when you wear your black pumps and fishnets, it boosts your test levels?
  11. "I believe from what I've read during the years that overly processed food in any form will be harmful. There is a HUGE industry behind supplements and it might take awhile to know what have emerged as side effects in the labs when it comes to "fake" protein. This is, after all, a money making machine (from peoples desperation) that hardly has any regulation. It's gambling and noone knows how bad it might be and you can be sure that the people making the money won't tell you (in case they know). Do you think that "fake" meats, TVP, seitan, and tofu fit into this catagory of overly processed food?
  12. oh yes, definately Jaleel for that refreshing edge he brings to all things . . . and, Beforewisdom for a wealth of wisdom Rainra (the energizer bunny) Zack for having the coolest name Dani for keeping the nut in line L&G for being the nut Tasha whose name even sounds like a vegan food Vjoe (for being so old) Medman and Blabate for being so smart Pink for a really different perspective on things Offence for being smart, funny, and wicked cool Octo of course for making me feel like working out et all . . . 16. Hahahahaha! This is not nearly as funny but oh well, this was a random guy I met at a party, he was not drunk. Guy: So where are you from? Me: Cuba Guy: Sweeeet! So you must speak Cuban?! Me: No, it's Spanish, that's what we speak in Cuba. Guy: Oh I didn't know Cuba was in Spain... http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b145/offense74/1008526290_l.jpg Awesome . . . and totally accurate!
  17. Since 1981 . . . how about you? And since you have walked my walk before (and probably much better than I), did you happen to see where I put my shoes?
  18. Thanks Medman for an extremely succinct summation of what I see as an important issue here; the difference between fact, opinion, science and "feelings".
