  1. NONE only whole foods ... if it is synthetic I do my best to avoid it. I have ground up hemp seeds but I only eat them like a handful of nuts. Not as a dietary supplement. It is food add it as an ingredient.
  2. Pigments are important contributors to the appearance and healthful properties of both avocado fruits and the oils extracted from these fruits. This study determined carotenoid and chlorophyll pigment concentrations in the skin and three sections of the flesh (outer dark green, middle pale green, and inner yellow flesh-nearest the seed) and anthocyanin concentrations in the skin of Hass avocado during ripening at 20 degrees C. Pigments were extracted from frozen tissue with acetone and measured using high-performance liquid chromatography. Pigments were also measured in the oil extracted from freeze-dried tissue sections by an accelerated solvent extraction system using hexane. Carotenoids and chlorophylls identified in the skin, flesh, and oil were lutein, alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, neoxanthin, violaxanthin, zeaxanthin, antheraxanthin, chlorophylls a and b, and pheophytins a and b with the highest concentrations of all pigments in the skin. Chlorophyllides a and b were identified in the skin and flesh tissues only. As the fruit ripened and softened, the skin changed from green to purple/black, corresponding to changes in skin hue angle, and a concomitant increase in cyanidin 3-O-glucoside and the loss of chlorophyllide a. In flesh tissue, chroma and lightness values decreased with ripening, with no changes in hue angle. The levels of carotenoids and chlorophylls did not change significantly during ripening. As fruit ripened, the total chlorophyll level in the oil from the flesh sections remained constant but declined in the oil extracted from the skin.
  3. Great job... you must be so proud! Keep doing what your doing because veganism really works if you do it the right way! Awesome ...

  6. yeah I agree that people need to show more the benefits and hype the truth about veganism. Unfortunately to being positive the main reason many are vegan is because animals are terribly treated and on top commodified. If I had not seen animal slaughter I may not be vegan now. I was on the line eating 3 0z of fish and chicken then I saw earthlings and it all just made sense. Works together the Negative and the Positive.
  7. ok well I mean in more rational terms yes caloric value of just greens would not be enough if you ate a little. Gorrillas spend a good part of their day eating in which our society does not ..well I mean at the level gorillas do. They also eat much slower than us for the most part and spend good time resting and relaxing as seen in the video. I was just messing around when I used donut examples and vegan burger but that is what a good portion of the vegans out there consume. They are not so keen on eating good amounts of whole foods. I was suprised when I went to a vegan meet up and found to see how much pastries vegans were eating including pasta and noodles and white flower. I was like in complete shock. Here I was on VBB and seeing people talk about eating healthier and that was my impression of Veganism and then when I saw that food provided I was like no wonder people think vegans are unhealthy... All I am am saying is greens play a powerful role in our diet and I believe to no surprise. I will be honest I still don't know exaclty how we actually breakdown all the nutrients from plants but somehow between stomach acid, saliva, pancreatic enzymes, and bacteria maybe together it works symbiotically unlike in some animals it may just be the bacteria or re-chewing the food.
  8. cellulose is still hard for gorillas to digest that is why they eat a lot of it. Still the human body is able to absorb nutrients from greens. And Cellulose plant cell walls is fiber. herbivorous animals that do not ruminate (re-chew their food as part of the digestive process) rely solely on the microbes (microscopic bacteria) living in their colon. The bacteria function to breakdown the indigestible plant cellulose and turn it into valuable digestible carbohydrates through the fermentation process. some sources to explain why greens are good for you and how yes we do digest nutrients. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=38 http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/foods/cruciferous/ http://www.healthscience.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=377:cruciferous-vegetables&catid=75:healthy-eating&Itemid=123
  9. sometimes people just love to hear themselves talk... like this dude in the vid. I think he needs to think about what he said!
  10. Is it? I don't think so. They are very very close genetically. I think people are so detached from nature that they try to justify their processed foods as what humans should eat... Check it greens are what keep us healthy. If you think that is bogus prove it to me that greens are not suppose to be the majority of the diet. Everyone knows you must have plants for food. Not your vegan burger. On a seperate case my sis even went to a board certified nutritonist who recommended her plate be at least 70% greens. Her symptoms cleared up. She got off it after she finished her sessions and here skin issues came back. I live for nutrition I find it fascinating. All the evidence I read leads back to eating more greens. Can we eat other things ... well of course but what is optimal? Greens are alkaline.... there are not to many other foods out there that are really as alkaline for supporting healthy immune system, bones and preventing degenerative diseases. We eat a variety of foods but eating greens is the key to optimal health. Are we gorrilas... well of course not but how similar are we to them 98.6 percent. You believe that nature intended for us to be almost exactly like gorrillas but we were instead suppose to chow down a big bowl of spaghetti... I am tellin you yeah chimps are similar as well I agree with you there.
  11. After listening to Gary Francion it I do agree that Singer and others like him are on the wrong path. Education is the key. Not just making happy farms to make people feel better about eating meat.
  12. Whmm no McDonalds burger in their hands that is for sure... Whmm where does the gorilla get his protein.... DOCUMENTARY ON SILVER BACK GORILLAS 98.6% like humans. http://www.hulu.com/watch/82014/explore-gorillas-986-human Funny thing is animals are selective when they choose their food. I was looking my two friends the guinea pigs and if I drop several veggies in their home they actually figure out if they like that or they liked what they were eating before...
  13. yeah real dummy he does not want to change he wants to debate to prove himself right... it is just a bunch of nonsense.
  14. THE BIG QUESTION HERE ... Why do people eat meat? Clogs your heart, causes all sorts of diseases, harms the environment and harms the animals. People love to label vegans crazy but I think killing animals and killing yourself with your own fork and knife is crazier. I sware this like the story of David and Goliath (as the story). Vegans are the small guy Non Meat eaters are Goliath. Look how mighty Goliath seemed... look how fast he fell. People will find whatever way to justify eating meat and making vegetarianism look bad. It is not popular that is exactly why. My manager today called my food weird but tasted good. WHAT THE %$#&? She said I had strange food... And deep fried bird cut up into little nuggets covered in bread and batter and then doused with salt and chemicals is not strange food? That is just crazy. Chick fillet makes me sick No one should try really fight people who say nonsense but prove to people like many here and let people know that your healthy let them see your energy. This is far more effective. I talked to my neighbor who is a smoker heavy drinker and eats fast food all day and when I told him about the article Death by veganism ... his first reaction knowing that I was a vegan was that is just bad parenting. I found that funny... that a total non healthy meat eater person would say something in favor of vegans. I let peeps know whats up! Vegans can be unhealthy if they choose to be or just healthy and ripped. Again Veganism is just plain awesome ... I was discussing this with my girlfriend the other day. Both of us agreed that it is such an amazing and powerful way to live. I LOVE It and IT is here to stay!
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJotVmkRf4E R U Kidding me? This guy is gone!
  16. I wrote to the editors of the paper and told them it was a joke of an article and their lack of vitamin d was do to their pale ass not getting enough sun. No one write about hey I made my kid fat so I got him off McDonalds Hamburgers and soda... or hey w eat a high acidic diet I took my kids of coffee cigarette and alcohol... Or hey my kids had high cholesterol I took them off a saturated fat and transfat diet. No really these newspapers are a joke
  17. Sorry for people and job losses but this is some good news for vegans. Burger Chain Struggling. Fatburger Restaurants of California and Fatburger Restaurants of Nevada, both subsidiaries of Fatburger Corp, filed for Chapter 11 in April. According to the Wall Street Journal, the parent company was not included in the filing, but the two subsidiaries accounted for 72% its total revenue in 2008. The bankruptcy came under pressure from G.E. Capital Business Asset Funding, which Fatburger owned nearly $3.9 million for defaulted loans. MCDonlads your next!
  18. I first saw Parkour back when the movie came out in France YAMAKAZI. It was so cool. I think it is awesome. I tried basic stuff. I never got to do flips. I like climbing more. It is a great art if your good at it and very useful. I have not see how it impacts the body on the long term. I still love watching it!
  19. I am a fool... someone already posted this ... oops! my bad.
  20. oh one more thing you should listen to Tom Petty's song Won't back down... I was like wow this fits veganism perfectly!
  21. aryan ... the idea is not to just accept peoples ignorance but educate. Most people really don't know and they think vegans are gonna die without meat. Boy are they wrong. Being passive is probably better if nothing is said. Someone makes fun of Veganism you ignore them. Keep doing what your doing. Let now one try to put you down. Veganism is healthy if done right and again better than pushing down slabs of saturated fat with a good ol glass of cancer juice aka milk. Next time you look at their food ask them how they get vitamin k or vitamin c or fiber... with that meal they are eating. No pill is going to correct that. Ask them why they eat meat. Do they enjoy shortening their life? Why is unhealthy always follow the trend of cool. Self distruction is cool. Like smoking . I remeber in high school the smokers thought they were the cool ones. In my head I was like they are the dumb ones. People are really food addicts. They can not stop. Can I eat meat... yeah of course. I am not restrictive. Do I choose to eat meat ... well NO! because I don't want anything to do with it. You see the key is turn it on them. Why do they do what they do. Your doing it for logical reasons or so I think, health, respect for animals, environment. All worthy causes that are noble. Really why do you put down that crap down your throat Sir! that is what I would ask them. We all have choices. I choose the better and ethical side of things. This just shows how crazy people are or how confused they are. You shoot a dog or a cat and people think your crazy and they will lock you up. You shoot a pig then your cool ! what the f....! Make them think and find good ways to turn it around so that your no longer the focus but they are. The mind is a great weapon against fools!
  22. http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2007/06/26/gladiator_arc.html?category=archaeology June 26, 2007 — Gladiators were bean-eating vegetarians who fought barefoot, participated in refereed matches and suffered floggings if they became inebriated or behaved inappropriately with women, new findings suggest. At April's meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, yet another research team presented data concluding gladiators consumed a vegetarian diet primarily consisting of beans, barley and dried fruits washed down with a drink rich in minerals. Medical University of Vienna anthropologists Fabian Kanz and Karl Grossschmidt analyzed gladiator skeletons unearthed near an ancient Ephesus stadium in what is now Turkey. The researchers found high levels of the trace element strontium, associated with plant-based diets, in the athletes' bones.
