  1. And to the person posting above me, thanks for that link and googling my stats, haha. I'm eating between 1100 and 1700 calories a day based on how much I run. I also cut peanut butter out of my diet because I think I used to eat way too much. I've also started to make hemp protein shakes which are gross. Does anyone have any good recipes for hemp protein?
  2. It has been forever since I have posted. I'm still at a solid 120. But, I just ran my first half-marathon. I'm so proud of myself that I signed up for another one in October. I'm going to train differently this time by adding some conditioning and strength training after my runs.
  3. I'm really bad at keeping up with this. So it's now 2009! I'm training for a half marathon in May. I'm doing Team in Training which is an awesome organization that provides training support while fund raising for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you would like to donate my link is http://pages.teamintraining.org/ri/Provid09/enewton. Running is the greatest exercise ever. I ran 10 miles for the first time last week and it was awesome. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a compact little girl and I don't care that I'm kind of muscular. I hope everyone is doing really well.
  4. thanks! I'll try to eat better and get back soon to update, hopefully with better results. I hate being tired all the time.
  5. Hi everyone! I'm back and still struggling with my diet and exercise regime. This is a picture of me last month. I've probably gained 3 solid pounds since then. My diet sucks and I have 0 time to cook because of work and school. I'm also incredibly tired all the time. I probably need to eat more fresh food rather than pb&j and subway. Also I've been drinking more coffee. I feel like I can't function without a long nap everyday and since I'm 20 I feel like that should not be the case. Sorry I'm always asking for help. I can't figure out how to balance my diet/life.
  6. I've been absent for a while now, but I'm back for real this time. I'm going back to school on Tuesday (I'm commuting) and I have time between classes for lunch. The dining halls don't have much that I can eat so I bought a lunch box and an ice pack (which makes me feel like I'm 7) so that I can brown bag it. Does anyone have any vegan lunch box ideas? I'm really interested in sandwich ideas besides the peanut butter and jelly (which are my favorite!) that would be good and will keep until noon in a lunch box. Thanks everyone!
  7. I haven't been here in a while, but I'm back. I'm at 120 right now but my goal is to be 115 by my 20th birthday on September 7th. Thanks for all the advice.
  8. Not really relevant to the point of this topic but I'm really happy right now. On June 3 my timed mile was 7.57 Today June 19 my timed mile was 7.34 I might not be getting thinner, but I am getting faster.

  10. I second that question. I seem to only lose weight if I eat under 1200 cal and exercise a lot. It's horrible and I'm hungry.
  11. In the book they say that we only need between 18-60 grams of protein per day. They recommend exercise like biking on the weekends or taking walks after dinner. Personally, if I don't work out hard everyday, I will gain weight fast and it's no fun.
  12. Point is, I've been at a plateau at 122 for about a year (with some ups and downs) and it's really frustrating since I've been kicking my ass running everyday. Hopefully weight training will kick it up a little and get this gross fat off my body.
  13. Thanks for all the advice! I really am taking it ALL into consideration. I'm at 20% body fat, and my goal is to lose 5% by the time I go back to school in September. I've been following the Body Sculpting Bible (the girl one) 3 times a week in addition to my running everyday. Trying to be in shape like all of you is tough.
  14. haha, I know. Juicing sounds like hard work because you have to make it yourself with a bunch of ingredients that I have never seen in a store. I'm sure I can find it all somewhere. Here's a story: I worked at a deli last year (I was a vegetarian at the time) and this man came in and said he was doing a "detox". He then ordered egg whites with feta cheese and a few veggies on whole wheat. I couldn't believe he thought that this was a way to detox. I bet it did not work too well. Also, a rather large woman came in with her 3 kids who were all allergic to soy and when I told her I eat a lot of tofu and soy products she said "that's not good for you, research is going to come out soon to prove it". She doesn't eat soy because she's allergic, just like someone with a nut allergy doesn't eat nuts. I told her that tofu has been around for thousands of years and if there was something wrong with it, people would have stopped eating it long ago. That's it. *I have no friends to tell these stories to so please don't mind me.
  15. I'm sure I only take in 1000-1200. I measure all of my serving sizes and I write it all down. I'm very anal about it. I'm also pretty sure that being on Zoloft for so long messed up my body and specifically my metabolism, there really is no other way to explain it. I had a trainer for a while who told me that I wasn't losing weight because I didn't eat meat. And then he suggested that I drink 5-6 cups of green tea. While I think green tea is fantastic and good for you, I don't think it's going to make me lose weight. So I got rid of the guy.
  16. I read the book Skinny Bitch and that is why I am started eating vegan. Has anyone read it and what did you think of it?
  17. Thanks for the support. The juice/fruit/water fast is a good idea. I don't know if I can stick to it for 2 weeks as I am prone to eating too much when I'm really really hungry. Plus, could I keep running while on a fast. I feel like I would not have enough energy. I'll look into it for sure. Seriously, thanks though I feel a lot better and motivated to keep going.
  18. If I eat more than 1200 cal I gain weight. I don't understand how some people can get on an elliptical for 20 minutes, three times a week and be thin. I was at the beach today and I was so embarrassed because all the the girls were so thin. I'll stop with the insecurity. If I did eat 1400-1600 cal a day, would my body adjust to that and would I start losing again? And thank you for the exercise advice. I will try to do two interval workouts a week. I've been thinking about it, but I've been putting it off.
  19. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/lizzie008/iusedtobefat2.jpg Summer 2006 (145)/Spring 2007 (122) I've been maintaining 122 since the Spring of 2007 even though I changed to a vegan diet the beginning of 2008. I eat between 1100-1300 cal everyday (mostly from fruit and whole grains). I run 3-5 miles everyday and do weight training 3 times a week. I can't lose weight anymore and it is so frustrating. I was on Zoloft for 5 years and once I read that it causes weight gain and messes up metabolisms I stopped using it. I don't know if this post is appropriate for the forum but I really do need help. I feel like I should weigh a lot less given the amount that I exercise and eat. People keep telling me I have to eat meat to lose weight, but I know that that is not the answer. Does anyone have any advice?[/img]
  20. I meant Jock Jams. Boom boom boom everybody say WAY-OH!!
  21. Thank you for all the welcomes! I'm so happy that this forum exists because I'm so sick of people telling me "you can't look the way you want without eating me". Now I am totally convinced that I can. Awesome!
  22. I did a 5k race about a month ago with my dad (who I beat, but that isn't saying much). I want to do a marathon before I'm 22. As for URI, it is a party school, but I would rather play laser tag.
  23. Rhode Island is not worth visiting. The only time the weather is decent is in the summer and the beach is always super crowded and the traffic is terrible. It's probably not as bad as I make it out to be, it's nice when it's sunny!
