  1. Did she use vegan chocolate? I wish they'd posted a pic. I have not read those two Carol Adams books. I did like "Living Among Meat Eaters."
  2. Kathryn, isn't a walking lunge a front lunge? And what exactly is a static lunge?
  3. Welcome Randall! That ocean pic is awesome.
  4. Welcome crazyj! Cool screen name.
  5. I disagree that fake meat, cheese, & leather promote the real products. Rather, if you take the opportunity, it is a terrific way to educate people that you don't need to kill animals for anything that you eat or wear. I have this great faux fur coat. Personally, I don't think anyone could possibly mistake it for the real thing, but just to make sure & to make a point, I proudly wear a Peta button "Fur is Dead" on the collar. Also, I believe the very best way in the world to turn people onto veganism is to treat them to vegan food that you've made. People are always stunned to discover that Chocolate Wowie Cake w/ Peanut Butter frosting is vegan. All of that said, fake meats are highly processed & whole foods are so much better for you. But in moderation I find Nate's Meatless Meatballs or slices of Tofurky's Italian Sausage to be a fun treat on top of my spaghetti now & then!
  6. I'm glad you like it. I got it from an online friend at another board & was thrilled to have my fave dip in vegan form!
  7. I have made these & they are very good!
  8. Happy Birthday, SS! Have fun & treat yourself to something special!
  9. I make a tasty burrito filling with it. First, reconstitute the TVP. Pour 3/4 cup boiling water over 1 cup TVP. Stir well. Let sit for 5 minutes. In a pan, saute a small chopped onion in oil. When tender, add the TVP & assorted south of the border spices -- chile powder, cumin, etc. Add a couple of cans of Rotel (green chiles & tomates) or if you don't have Rotel in your area add a can of tomatoes (with liquid) & a small can of green chiles. Simmer until liquid is cooked off. Makes a good filling for burritos or as the bottom layer of a tostada. Also makes a great layer in a Mexican casserole.

    Welcome Mavric.
  11. Welcome SilverVegan! Cool screen name. Yeah, the myth of the skinny vegan. There's so much good vegan food & sadly, lots of tasty vegan junk food too.

  13. Nicole, I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved Cornholio. Our furry & feathered friends become an intimate part of our lives that leaves a big gaping hole when they are gone. He was sure a cute little guy!
  14. My mother believes this. Millions do. Five years ago they refused to believe in global warming. Now that it is beyond question, they go to the next level of denial: It's not our fault so there is nothing we can do about it. How convenient to live your life with no regard for the impact of your choices. How inhumane.
  15. Very nice shots! The butterfly is amazing. Do you have a zoom? I love my digital camera! I never took pictures in the past. Now I carry my camera with me most all the time.
