  2. Am I missing something? I have checked out the Boca Chick'n Patties at several different stores. They have new packaging, but they still have eggs. I believe they are phasing out the egg variety. One store I go to has the vegan variety, the other has the egg. Both packages look the same & I do not see "Vegan" on the vegan package. Arghh! You would think that would be a selling feature & they would prominently display "VEGAN!!" on their product! Oh man, I am hooked on these little things! A Chik'n with 1/2 can of beans -- yum! A good filling meal.
  3. I made 2 pizza's this weekend & used this white sauce for one. It ROCKS! I topped it with fresh spinach, tomatoes, black olives & roasted garlic cloves. I also made one with red sauce & Follow Your Heart mozz & cheddar cheezes. Very good! I baked the pizzas at 400° for about 18 minutes, than broiled them at 450° for about 7-10 minutes, watching very closely & turning the pan once. This was my first time making yeast dough. I had some issues with it sticking & worried I was using too much flour, but it turned out wonderful. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
  4. These cookies rocked!! I'm noshing on one right now with a cup of herbal spice tea. Protien Choco Chipper Cookies 1 1/4 cups flour 1 cup protien powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 sticks vegan margarine (Earth Balance buttery sticks) 1 cup turbinado sugar 1/2 cup molasses 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (replaces 2 eggs) 12 ounce choco chips Combine flour, protien powder, soda & salt in bowl. Set aside. In large bowl, combine margarine, sugar, molasses & vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add applesauce, beating well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in choco chips by hand. Bake in 350 degree oven for approx 10 minutes. They are a little soft when you first take them from the oven so let them cool before moving to a rack or plate. Next time I'll back off on the choco chips a little bit -- maybe 2/3 of a package of chips instead of all of them. === CollegeB, glad you checked out Reclaim Democracy & liked it.
  5. This weekend I'm going to attempt to bake some protien powder choco-chip cookies -- at the request of my husband. My regular choco chip recipe calls for 2 1/4 cups flour so I'm going to use 1 cup protien powder with 1 1/4 cups flour instead. UNLESS, someone here has a better suggestion. ??? I'm also going to try veganmadre's white garlic sauce on pizza, if I can find some vegan mozz cheeze.
  6. Your sister is adorable! Do you have to use brown sugar? Can you use all regular turbinado sugar, do you think? Vegan baking is a whole new thing for me.
  7. Ricotta Replacement Half of one batch of cheeze sauce (below) One tub of tofu Drain tofu & mash with potato masher. Add cheeze sauce, mix well. Add Italian seasonings to taste. Use with lasagna, stuffed shells, etc. For lasagna (cuz I have a HUGE pan!) I use the entire cheeze sauce & 2 tubs of tofu. Cheeze Sauce 7 oz. jar roasted red pepper, drained 3/4 cup water 2/3 cup nutritinal yeast flakes 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup lemon juice 1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce 1 1/2 tablespoon tahini Put all ingredients in a blender & blend well. Can be used as dip or spread. Lessen the amount of water for a delish 'grilled cheeze' sandwich spread. Instead of water, add 3/4 cup salsa for dip. This also freezes well. We love this stuff!

WE MUST DO THIS AGAIN, or soon our Oragnic standards will mean nothing! Remember, even if you do not buy organics now, there may come a time when you want to do so & will want the standards to mean something.   10. At what point would you freeze it? I am terrified of any recipe that has active yeast in it. It's time to confront that fear!
  11. A man sees a woman placing a tub of tofu in her shopping cart. He approaches her. "Excuse me, but what do you do with the tofu?" he asks. She responds, "Every few days I drain it & fill it with fresh water. After about 2 weeks I throw the tofu away." He looks disappointed. "That's the same recipe my wife has. I was hoping you had a different one!" === I agree with Corey that vegweb.com has great recipes. The "Sloppy Steves" if made with the modifications mentioned in the notes below the recipe, are really good! Tofu Scramble is also very good, especially served over toast spread with Tofutti Cream Cheese. Here's how I make mine: ...1 medium onion, chopped ...2-3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed ...1 block tofu, drained well & mashed or crumbled ...3 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes ...1 teaspoon tumeric ...1 teaspoon salt, optional ...assorted chopped veggies. I like fresh tomatoes, fresh spinach, olives, mushrooms. Sometimes I'll add cooked Smart Bacon crumbled in pieces. In a small amount of oil, saute the onion & garlic till tender. In a bowl, add the mashed tofu, ny flakes, tumeric, salt & veggies & mix well. Add tofu & veggies to the pan & cook on medium to medium high heat till moisture is cooked off.
  12. This is one of those things I make all the time in the winter & I don't really have a recipe. I'll try my best to write out what I throw in the pot. Vegan Potato Soup ...1 large onion, diced ...4 stalks celery, chopped ...4-5 carrots, sliced ...4-5 large potatoes, peeled & diced ...4 cups veggie broth ...1 teaspoon poultry seasoning ...1 cup Vegenaise or Tofutti Sour Supreme In a stock pot, saute the onion & celery in oil till tender. Add the veggie broth, carrots, potatoes, & seasoning & cook till tender. Put the Vegenaise/Sr. Supreme in a bowl. Take out approx 1 cup of hot broth & add in small amounts to the Vegenaise/Sr. Supreme, whisking after each addition. When all the broth has been incorporated to the cream mix, pour back into the soup pot & heat through. --- This is also a great cream base for corn chowder.
