  1. VP,

Wow, the beach sounds awesome right now. The New Mexico desert is getting a little old right now. It sounds like you and your ex have a good thing going with your daughters. yay!!

you and SS and DV are so disciplined. I totally admire that!

Keep up the great work! You know you have support at this forum whenever you need to vent!

  2. Hey VP,

It sounds like you are in a helpless place of trying to please everyone. You might need to tell everyone that you need some space to just take care of yourself mentally and physically for a while. That is code for telling everyone to screw off!! It will be hard, but much needed. I am in a similar funk and it's a bitch!!! (of course, i am not at your level of fitness beginning the funk) I'm sure there is a reason you are still seeing your ex? He will have to just suck it up and have a little compassion and give you a break! Anyway, do what you need to do to make yourself happy.

I am out of the loop in regards to beforewisdom's comments, so I am just going to not address that. ha,ha.

    take care of yourself.

chalisa (i've still been watching, but not contributing to VBB)

  3. Hi Pink!

I might have missed this, but how much water do you drink? That really helps to flush out toxins, excessive salt, etc.

Also, if you look at how bodybuilders/figure comp. eat, they space out their meals--5-6 smaller meals throughout the day. This gives you a steady energy supply without the insulin spikes. Large meals eaten at one time, from what I've researched, cause you to release a lot of insulin which can cause you to store excessive fat.

I do have to say that everyone is different in body chemistry so it might be trial and error for a while. Just some other things to try if you need to.

One more thing I have experienced with myself, since I have not been weight training consistently for the past few months(maybe 1time/wk), my weight has not changed that much, but i am more flabbily (as i call it), so i know my body composition has changed. i concur with everyone else, in that, weight training should help tighten things up more. (i am speaking to myself at the same time) :0)

You are very motivating and inspiring. You should be so proud of yourself for losing that amount of weight!

It is really a struggle and not as easy as the magazines/media make it seem.

    Keep up the awesome work!

i hope my tidbits don't come off as being rude or pushy. I am struggling with weight loss issues, so I can relate in some sense.

  4. People watching is very fun. One time this guy had his headphones cranked and couldn't take his eyes off himself. He was totally pumping himself up (which is not a bad thing). Until.........he was doing bicep curls and actually KISSED HIS OWN BICEPS! I almost died laughing. I thought that only happened in the movies. His biceps didn't really warrant kissing, but whatever gets you motivated, I guess.(within reason)

  5. Yay! It is so good to hear from you all.

College B.--I would recommend Skinny Bitch because it promotes a vegan diet. Once you get into the book, it is just a common sense whole food, vegan diet. It is really done with a sense of humor, though. They cuss a lot in this book. I think it is so funny!

  6. Hi everyone,

I am Chalisa. I originally joined in Oct. 2006. I fell off the vegan wagon shortly after. I have been silently spying on you guys for a couple of months now. I didn't know if I had the guts to come back, but here I am. Yay! I decided to suck up my ego and re-commit. I have been very inspired by all of you.

Inspiration #1: Pamela's transformation. You Rock!

Inspiration #2: The recent article in VegNews magazine on vegan extreme athletes. Robert and Brendan, you totally Rock!

Inspiration #3: I read Skinny Bitch and was ed and horrified.

So, my short re-intro bio: I am a personal trainer, wife, and mom. I am a wanna-be athlete (so far only in my head-lol!). Veganpotter might remember my triathlon aspirations. I have gotten slick tires for my mountain bike. (one step in the right direction)

I am still trying to lose some weight, blah, blah, blah.....When I look like Heather Morgan, I will post a picture.

This site has such a warm, welcoming, and supportive vibe that I had to join.

I hope to continue on this path. Visiting this site daily keeps me inspired and on track. No one I know is vegan, so I am kind of a freak here.

Well, that is about it in a nutshell. I will keep you informed of my progress. If you have any advice, please throw some my way.

    Thanks so much!

  7. How very cool Honey!!!

What is the occasion for the visit?

If you are used to seeing green, this place looks very brown. But, the sky is so open and amazing that it grows on you. Also, you can't beat the weather. We have tried to move away several times(to Montana) and always end up coming back. We are here to stay now.

Keep me posted on your visit. I hope you have a good time!

  8. Thank you so much for all of the warm welcomes!!(':D')

I have been vegan now for 10 days and feel pretty good.

I hope everyone is doing well. I wish I had some news to share, but life is business as usual.

This site is still totally exciting to me and is keeping me vegan.

    Thanks everyone!!

  9. You must have nerves of steel. You have great advice. I have been avoiding sprints, but must add them.

Quick question--Do you agree with literature that says it is hard to lose bodyfat when you drink a lot of coffee? Because of the increase in cortisol and fluctuations in insulin level? I drink a ton of coffee and have had a very hard time losing bodyfat despite a clean diet and good exercise routine. I am in denial about giving up coffee, unless someone tells me they have had experience losing weight by dumping it.

Thanks for the help. You are inspiring!!!

    :0)
