  1. That was so poorly written I couldn't get past the second paragraph. Loser.
  2. Have you tried the Stevia Baking Blend? Its made by NuStevia, they just sent me some as a sample, it definitely works as far as sweetening goes. So far I've made cookies and a fruit crisp with it. Both came out pretty well. The cookies weren't the same texture that I would like, they were cakey and I wanted them to spread more, but they still tasted like a pretty normal cookie.
  3. Shoes? Have you been fitted for shoes? They can really make all the difference. I have very high arches and my feet pronate. My right leg more than the other, and if I run in unsupportive shoes for a few weeks, my right knee starts to hurt. If you can find a specialty running store near you, there will probably be someone who can look at your feet, watch you run, and help you. I've been to a few, but the coolest one had a treadmill, they put you in a pair of neutral shoes, and videotaped your feet while you were running. Very cool, and you see how your feet move and it kind of explains why your knee might be hurting. Worth a shot. Oh, but those places can be pretty expensive. I usually do buy my shoes from them, but you could always go, find the pair you want, and then order them online, or find them cheaper somewhere else.
  4. I'm also kind of missing your point. Even in the things you've pointed out, they seem relatively harmless, especially since I never order tortillas. Based on that list, I'd probably choose the corn over the flour though, if I had to. I don't really think adding some soybean oil to rice is so bad, it makes it non-sticky, since stick rice isn't really charactaristic of Mexican food. As far as the salsa, its really mostly just tomatoes. Citric acid is a pretty natural substance, I'm okay with that, and most of the other stuff makes up such a small percentage of the product. As far as fast food-ish places go, it doesn't look too bad to me, and I think its pretty cool that they've listed all of their ingredients so publicly.
  5. Looks good to me too. Although I also buy mine on trueprotein.com. Once you know what you want in a protein powder you should definitely think about ordering from there, I find it to be much more affordable. Vega is good...I don't think it tastes great, but that's another story. Its also super expensive.
  6. I thought about going last year, but I have a professional development course that overlaps those days this year.
  7. I've heard of it a lot, but I agree that I don't think I'd have the discipline. I really like food
  8. I just wanted to say thanks for this site!! I haven't really used any of it, but my husband loves it and has been looking through a lot of them, so it is much appreciated
  9. In reference to that video...I don't really think I would considered a spoiled rich girl from the OC an "average person". I agree with veganjosh...I want those three minutes of my life back, she's just an idiot.
  10. Wow, that's really interesting. I do love bananas, but I agree that I'd probably end up being too tempted and binge on something else. I hope it goes really well for you!
  11. Well pumpkin seeds have a lot of protein, so it would make sense that their sprouts do also, right? I'm not any kind of sprout expert though, so that may have been an idiotic comment
  12. What is the *premium sweetener*? I usually just get it sweetened with stevia.
  13. Oh...it is so funny. And at first you feel dumb watching people failing at running an obstacle course (at least I do), but its just so funny.
  14. Well..all oils and nuts have lots of fats also. So does coconut. And...fruits are pretty easy to eat although not quite as calorific.
  15. Welcome! I just had my husband read Skinny Bastard yesterday. He had already chosen to be vegan, but I wanted him to have some solid information instead of just listening to what I tell him. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the forum, good luck with reaching your goals!
  16. Hi Mike, Welcome! I think you'll find that as long as you educate yourself and have a support system where you can learn and ask questions (ie this website), you won't find the switch to veganism difficult at all!
  17. I don't really eat low carb, but I don't eat a lot of grains, and that helps me a lot. I do eat fruits and vegetables. This may sound silly, but have you tried cutting out wheat or gluten? Because all those processed vegan "meats", like tofurkey, that are high in protein, are also really high in gluten, whereas real meat is not. So that could explain why eliminating carbs on a omnivorous diet worked, and on a vegan diet with meat substitutes, it isn't. I think more people are sensitive to gluten than they think...it might be worth a shot.
  18. I've never really read it, but it seems like they're all vague enough that they're pretty harmless. I'm type O and it says a whole bunch about eating a high protein diet with lots of fruits and vegetables and less grains, and...that is how I prefer to eat (obviously with my protein not coming from animal products though). But I could find ways that the other other types apply to me also.
  19. I listened to a few when I was vegetarian, and it made me really angry. Then when I became vegan I decided to give it another shot. It didn't make me as angry, but I find that there's not a lot of substance to them. I belong to the forum too...they open registration now and again. Its huge though, and its kind of hard to "break-in", if that makes sense, so I never really got very invested in, and you only seem to become one of the "cool kids" if you are snarky. I'm sure they'll kick me out eventually because I don't have enough time for it and rarely log in....although I was already aware that they do that.
  20. That is all you eat, for the entire day? As a 5'4'' 24 year old female, who works out a similar amount, I eat way more than that. The quality of most of what you're eating looks good though, but I'd switch up all the bread.
  21. There isn't any gluten in rice. That is mainly why they make rice pasta, for people who can't eat gluten (I'm not suggesting you do or do not eat rice pasta, but rice itself fine). I try to avoid gluten as much as possible. Quinoa and millet also don't have gluten, and they're a good grain sub that has protein content. Do you not eat soy either? Nuts? Seeds? Personally, I'm also a protein powder person, I use 1/2 rice, and 1/2 gemma (pea).
  22. I always eat before I go to bed. Not really intentionally, it just fits in with my schedule.
  23. I wasn't around last time they were done, but it sounds like a good plan to me
