Drew, good call about the spanish. A friend of mine just turned me onto their history yesterday. Watched land & freedom and he passed me homage to catalonia by H.G. wells. H.G. Wells also gets mention for his participation in revolutionary activity with the spanish in Samuel Konkin's "An Agorist Primer" so I guess that's another place i've seen mention... But anarchists fighting for liberty against fascists definitely could be included in my comment, but it's not what I meant since I really was not thinking of it at the time. However I made it more tounge in cheek than out of complaint. I don't get into all the doom and gloom and defeat mentality that I hear a lot, and I can't say i'm persecuted for any of the odd things I believe in or do. I catch some weird glances, but whatever. Also in having a philosophy built around individual action and thought I can't complain unless I let myself down. I'm not out to control anyone else, but if that's where someone is coming from then I can see reason to complain as a numerical majority probably will never go with the flow. About this initial comment you mentioned. I don't see persecution happening to just people of color. In my view the person's color or ethnic background Black, white, asian, whatever doesn't legitimize nor degrade from arguments they make against persecution, abuse, exploitation, etc. since the violence used by the state can harm anyone and everyone. I'll grant you it's not equal as the war on drugs (for one) demonstrates or how I know juveniles in the "justice system" are treated. But whoever is going to speak out against such poor conditions should be appreciated not dismissed just because of color or SES. And propagandhi expressed a notion in one of their songs that people of privilege should "feel obliged" to complain the most, i'd imagine since they have the time and resources to do it the most. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, as I see where you're coming from and it makes sense when looked at historically, but I think the scope of influence is broader now. Granted you might be basing your views on some concrete numbers, while i'm going more on personal experience in the places I live and the people I know. So i'm open to whatever, and I expect that whatever the numbers actually are it's more realistic to say more people are persecuted than to say less people are persecuted. I look forward to hearing how this strikes you.

I have rotator cuff tendonitis on my right side. I let it go unexamined for over a year and just restructured my workouts. I did see a sports medicine person at my college in Illinois, and after he went over some basic stretches with me things have been going pretty darn good!

NY can do such things because they are the employer and the health dept has a lot of clout. I have heard there is not exemption, take the shot or get laid off. I think getting laid off is worth the risk, but I don't expect anyone to do so, and the layoffs will happen right before christmas so nobody will be looking (too busy shopping) which will avoid the rightful scorn of the public. NY laying off half of it's workforce would be quite a sight. I hope you stand your ground and in the end it's best to just move out of NY completely. It's a pretty state and I love NY city but the political class and it's supporters has grown too large there for people to be free. Best of luck. Sorry you have to go through this but you won't be alone. This policy will spread to other states once it's upheld in a court...or just not challenged.

We as a nation have nothing to do with what a privately owned building does, no matter how ignorant. The US doesn't need to go to war with anyone, let alone china. Thank goodness it didn't happen recently as one of our forum members would have been caught in the middle. If you think communists face persecution try advocating having no state at all. I think an expansion of government much more palatable and even preferable to most than a completely voluntary society.

I'm with Duccati on this one. I rarely eat vegan cheese now so health risks from this new stuff are not a major issue for me, but I guess the overall health bonus by less dairy cheese consumption may not go as I originally envisioned. Too bad.

I like raw dessert food! I'd probably add some hemp protein powder in mine just for a boost, and that would answer the protein problem. Hemp powder tastes good with fruits.

You can call yourself a hypocrite, but I wouldn't worry about that too much. Thing is the trip wasn't planned well for your diet. I imagine china is hard for vegans anyhow, but being in a work environment made things harder. What city were you in, check it on this list or maybe even a neighboring city...http://www.happycow.net/asia/china/ I tend to eat more raw foods when traveling. Fruits, nuts, salads and the like as those are safe for vegans. Take a long some protein powder or better yet to make up for nutrients you are not going to be eating a whole food meal replacement like vega would be worth the investment. I always pack a lot of clif bars too for snacking. Also do a search about being vegan in china. It is nice to know that a cheaper alternative to dairy cheese is coming about. I will like to see what effect this has on the marketplace on the whole. Cheeseless pizza could be the norm for one! Overall health may improve, but I guess that depends what this faux cheese is made of. The meat industry is going to take a big hit from this too as we know the relationship between dairy cows and beef production. Less of one means less of the other and higher meat costs are more than likely.

We do get those from time to time don't we. Thankfully this is the internet and were not all crammed into a tiny room for some conference although the food at such a thing might be good

The gym i'm at has some kind of welded contraption you can put plates on. I guess the grip angle would be like that of doing the exercise with dumbells. I like barbells too. Each way of doing the exercise hits some different muscles, right? So maybe switching them out is best.

Instead of being so focused on the vegan diet, get into vegan ethics. From the many examples in the world of vegans gone bad, I have yet to see someone who is ethically vegan falling off the wagon. Good luck with your goals.

Yeah for fast food it looks pretty clean. Mostly simple ingredients on the veggies and beans.
