  1. I know how it works and the reason why people do it( Mostly becasue the nutrients get depleted a bit right?) But what I don't get is how would one eat an item that is meant to be cooked? Like Pinto Beans? Surely you cannot eat them raw. So do Raw food dieters pass up beans and the chance to get protein simply becasue some of that protein will deplete? Wouldn't it be best to get the protein you would get by cooking the pinto beans than by not eating it all-together?

In my opinion/experience cooking the bean will just make it softer to eat and render the protien and anything else useless and way harder to digest.

Look at it like this, do animals in the wild bother about protien, carbohydrates, calories?

Or do they just eat whats available in it's raw state, after all when is the last time you saw an animal boiling a pot of beans so it can fill it's "protien" quota for the day?

We are the only living being that alters/cooks their food!!!

Do some research on Raw Veganism, there's plenty of info out there, or check out previous posts here....

  2.

Who says raw foodists need to eat pounds of fruits/produce a day, for calories!!!

This explains best, what I mean.

"You have to eat a larger volume of fruits and vegetables to obtain the same amount of calories that you do from cooked food, because fruits and vegetables are not as calorically dense." Graham

Then try it and see what happens....all you'll end up doing is force feeding yourself/overeating and bloating yourself out, yeah that works in the beginning because your still transitioning and used to eating high volume dense cooked foods but when you've been raw for a while you don't want big meals.

Be careful who you quote, find out about the person your quoting from, find out where their focus is because every one's info is different, no one guru has the whole raw thing licked, they are just giving you what works for them, D.Graham says you got to stuff yourself so you stretch your stomach, he recommends you eat huge meals, that's cool but it won't work for everyone, so I say just listen to your own needs and do what works for you.

  3. If you are 100% raw, you must be eating pounds of fruits a day to get your daily calories. If you like to eat on budget, that is expensive.

What do you substitute for? Brown rice is a cheap substitute for me. It covers the calories and cut the food budget.

What are some high energy fruits? Other than bananas..

Who says raw foodists need to eat pounds of fruits/produce a day, for calories!!!

Calories are for selling weight gain supplements in my opinion.

Cooked food rules of nutrition do not apply to a raw diet.....

Eating a lot of rawfood has more to do with transitioning from cooked food and comfort eating.

Also in my experience food does not give me energy, getting rid of cooked foods and internal cleansing gives energy!

Food uses up energy becausev you got to chew it and digest it and raw food uses up the least.

  4. I know how that goes man! That is where I was in 2005 and 2006. TV interviews, magazine interviews, radio, newspaper, my own articles, you name it. I know you've been doing the same for more than a year based on our own communication back and forth.

We have to look at it as stepping stones we needed to take to help others, help animals and help ourselves move to the next level.

But now it's time to focus on what got us here in the first place! Our physiques and our lifestyle. Then we'll worry about our names later

I'm with you! 2007 has been a quiet year for me in the media but my best year with my physique and as a bodybuilder.

Let's get back to work, back to our roots and back to what we do best. Let's go man! I'm with you.

Your so right, I lost focus got involved in other things and forgot how important my physique really is and how important it is to have my mind completely in tune to my workouts!

I've actually had more going on but I don't like to mention stuff like that all the time, coz it's not really about me...

Im with ya buddy, LET'S DO THIS!!!

My plan is to go pretty hardcore, so I may not be around much as would rather let my actions do the talking....

  5. I've been studying these pics and to be honest with you I'm simply not happy with the shape I'm in....they are great pics but I let myself down badly by getting side tracked with interviews, writing articles, etc

I'm getting that stuff out of the way and I'm using the challenge on my forum to correct this!

  6. what raw foods are you eating? i know you once talked about consuming like a lb of dried seeds per day and from my own experience this is destructive.

not all raw is created equal. i'll make the recommendation even though you have no reason to believe it or follow it as it takes some understanding but i will try anyway...

forget about protein, calories, fat. eat nothing but juicy fruits for 90 days in whatever quantity your body desires.

it can be inexpensive just takes effort and if it costs more then it's money well spent. it will come back to you, because, how good a work do you do when you only want to sleep all day?

yes some detox is inevitable but i am starting to realize that a lot of what we call de-tox is really re-tox and that even a typical raw diet is sincerely flawed.

if you want it, take it.

lots of fruits, and ocassionally nuts/seeds. i cant force myself to eat more than a handful of nuts/seeds a day.

im just watching myself getting skinnier/weaker and thats causing problems for me.

the thing is i dont truly know what my body desires. but i am just gonna eat fruit and stuff and let my body get really skinny, and then hopefully build muscle on fruit and nuts/seeds. i think if i can afford hempseed shakes, i will be fine.

i dont like really sweat fruits sometimes cause my teeth feel sensitive to it. i kinda like plain tasting stuff.

im just gonna keep eating and drinking lots of water and see what happens over next few months.

i also really like drinking kombucha tea.

You still don't seem to understand whats going on Hero....did that stuff I sent you not help.

If you don't understand what's going your going to go back to what you know best and that's a big mistake.

Getting skinny is a good sign it means your detox has started and your body is busy cleaning out, you've got rid of some poison so you have lost some retained water, which is good news right?

So all that muscle you thought you had was just excess water!

Now your gonna see what you really got!

  7. Looking awesome and shredded! Great stuff man. You should do more and more of them in the future as well!

All the best with the website, magazines and other opportunities.

    Thanks buddy...you know me!

I'm up for any opportunity to spread the word bro!!!!

  8. Bigwii what magazine(s) are you going to be in?

I'm in a raw magazine called Living Nutrition, and I'm supposed to be in a magazine called Onfitness or something like that in July and I'm in a cable tv fitness show showing sometime this year.

But those pics were just for me.

  9. Hey thanks for the comments, the photographer did a great job!

There's actually a ton more better ones but I'm still waiting for the rest, I may post a bigger selection later.

Personaly I'm pleased especially since I don't train to be a bodybuilder but I still think I'm in good shape, plus I see myself totally different to how others see me too, I wonder if I'm the only one that does that!?

These were just for me to have a profesional set of photo's, Im gonna use them for my new website!

  10. Topher you work a laborious job right now don't you? It's nonsense to say you don't need more calories than the average person.. If you're working hard everyday, you will need to eat more plain and simple... I go through detox without getting dizzy, but my caloric needs are probably much lower. I think you're probably just hungry. You said you can't afford enough fruits to keep you full. Don't screw yourself over thinking it's just detox. I'm not saying eat processed food, but you can't just undereat and say the cause for the weakness is detox.. I think gorilla has been on fruits only for 3 weeks, while training without the dizziness/detox symptoms, even though he's probably still cleansing himself. I think you've just got to eat more.

If you really want to do the fruit thing, maybe base your diet around bananas and maybe some nuts/seeds, both have quite a few calories. Bananas are pretty cheap too..

Zack your talking from the prospective of someone that eats cooked foods and to be honest I really don't think you can assist hero until you have been through it and come out the other side yourself.

Hero can eat all he wants but he's still gonna have to go through detox/withdrawls, so don't be so dismisive Zack....this is a very emotionally draining process and is very easy for the average joe bloggs to mis-diagnose what's happening!
