  1. http://www.oxygenmag.com/vegetarian This leads you to an article about Vegan fitness with an interview with VeganPrincess or VegPrincess -- Melissa Brey. Please vote for it with some stars and write a nice, positive message.
  2. Sexy! Don't worry about a thing and stay plant based! What part of Northern CA? I'm in Santa Rosa now.
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-434172/Ultrasound-beams-answer-chronic-pain.html I would dry acupuncture to relax the muscle. I'm heading to California this weekend so I won't be around, as usual. Sorry to hear about the pain, that REALLY SUCKS!
  4. The face is about 10 min in the am and 10 at night. But I just do it here and there during the day. 5 reps of 10 count on eye lids and chin/jaw. The cheek on is the one that takes the longest for both results and time. Eye lids and jaw line should be the focus, the sag can be totally prevented. The flex effect program is better than the other two I've tried, she really knows her muscles! It's easier to prevent than to reverse, it took one guy 2 years of relentless exercise, but Damn! The kegel, YES, very, very worth it. Vaginal rejuvination is really popular, but that's just painful and risky! You can rebuild your face, body, and tighten your meow (and all your pelvic floor muscles) with resistance exercise. Wonderful!
  5. Welcome! Lucky to live in such a vegan friendly town with the nicest guy, Robert Cheeke, who has a new book out! http://www.veganbodybuildingbook.com/
  6. Yes! One of the women in the profiles wrote about a 60 year old raw foodist who she exclaimed "GORGEOUS and SEXY" and so she went raw. The more raw, the better the skin. So now I got this video thingy so I must video tape my face exercises and post. I am working on lifting the cheeks and smoothing the forehead. It works but every day (not like the rest of your body), got the program by a former body builder: http://www.flexeffect.com/ Her face is awesome! My eyes are less hooded now, my jawline is tighter, loads of benefits (circulation being a key thing). I've been doing it for a year but not consistently (shame on me!!!) Now that and vaginal exercises (kegel on steroids Kegel Master 2000) and ROCK on! My boyfriend is having a nice time with me Resize your photos this way: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/
  7. So it's called over training. I didn't have a week long recovery time when I was doing the Vega more often, so I think it's not age related, it's food related. But I have to take 6, yes 6, bean relief pills by Kals to not get really bad gas with Vega. I didn't have it before (when I first started taking it), but now it's bad. Weird, perhaps old fart has something to do with it I'm a secret old fart! Like the Who song: I look pretty young but I'm just back dated Almost 43 now, and I look better than I did when I was 20!
  8. I think I'm taller too. I think 60 lbs was making me shorter, or a person just stands up taller when they feel better about how they look.
  9. Fork over the money, but please don't fork the animals! http:// http://www.firstgiving.com/dropsoul (Ooo, that's sick Christina, are you sure about that headline?) Be CompassionATE and help animals by sponsoring me for the 3 October 2009 Walk in St. Petersburg, Florida. Your donation/sponsorship of $5.00, $10.00, $15.00, or more really helps! Whatever you can spare. But don't spare a rib! I hear it's painful. I used to eat meat and I understand that it's a huge change to become a vegan. You don't have to be a complete vegan to make a difference. See VeganOutreach.org and TryVeg.com for loads of non-judgemental info to help you cut down. Listen to your heart, young Skywalker... http:// http://www.firstgiving.com/dropsoul
  10. Rock on! Very awesome transform. How tall are you?
  11. Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm drooling now! You're a sweetie and follow your heart!
  12. Yes! You are so gorgeous! If I were a dude, I'd be drooling over you! The squats and those 50lb. lunges are amazing at getting the ass back. Takes time for the lower half on women, but you'll see!!!! Veganly, Christina
  13. Most people (women mostly) tend to think they can get shapely on a bird diet. If you read what the Oxygen models are eating, they eat 1 g of protein per lb (meat/whey unfortunately). For animals, colon cancer and boobie cancer (and a host of other problems) it's best to stay vegan and green as possible. That's a freaking lot of protein but that's why they look like they look, it's not all the exercises; it's the exercise + the protein to protect the muscle they have and the protein to build muscle from the weights they're lifting. Melissa (veganpersonaltraining.com) is VERY worth the small amount she charges and she's got a diet plan that will get you going and exercises too.
  14. Brown rice protein (my fav)! Less fruit (for now) GREEN UP! Oatmeal is great for breakfast. Go by a second hand shop and get some pants. Also I've been seeing great results by adding 2 tablespoons (yes it's very hot and spicy) to 1 cup of oatmeal, 2 stevia, and 1 cup of almond milk. Lots of info below and elsewhere on the significant metabolism raising effects of cinnamon. http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2000/12/01/2065/cinnamon-increases-metabolism-20-fold/ http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/cinnamon.htm
  15. Eat 5 cups of salad and you'll also gain weight. Weight is not what you want to lose, you want to lose fat. So if you want to lose fat, calm down. Stress is number one cause of fat accumulation, even in the most advanced athletes. Read Thrive Diet. (Should be called Thrive LIVE it.) Change up your work out routine. If you do bike, do walking or sprinting. If you pick up a weight and can do more than 12 reps at once, time to get a heavier weight. Personally, I want to get bigger muscles so I do the heaviest I can handle at 6 reps 2-3 times or less. Then I do stuff like hold for 20 seconds, squeeze, so that it's really working it. When you lift it should not be a sexy thing, face contorts and concentration. But you will look sexier much faster!!! Heavy lifting (after you've worked up to it) your body will burn FAT for a many hours after, cardio there's hardly any after effect. More muscle, will shape your body and burn more fat for as long as you're alive. Cardio is good, but not as good as weight lifting. If you eat too few of calories, work out a lot, stress out you end up cannibalizing your muscle and lowering your metabolism in short order (low calorie diets eat muscle and eating muscle makes you look deflated and you end up eating less and less to maintain and then you get bone problems). To get your metabolic rate up, do metabolic things for the long term: lift heavy, eat to support it. Veggies ought to be the main source of carbs, I think (less fruit for women as fructose is not regulated by insulin like glucose, so recent research indicates that it gets converted in to fat fast! For some, women especially, just best to stick to greens (lots of greens). And protein up. The body builders and fitness models get 1 - 1.5 g of protein per lb. of weight or 20-30% of the calories per day. But it's tweaked as they know that stuff. http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/76/5/911 -- fructose (there was more about it and the folks just removing fructose corn syrup, fruit, and anything fructose and that's all they did and they lost fat fast). Then there's lots of research on getting good sleep for fat loss. Read: http://home.trainingpeaks.com/articles/nutrition/a-calorie-is-not-a-calorie.aspx A calorie is not a calorie. Veganly, Christina
  16. Right now you're likely seeing water weight. Yes you may go up little but it takes more than a day or two, but relax about it. Address stress first, that puts on fat without even eating at all. Because you're lifting weights you will see weight gains from muscle too, so you could be seeing a plateau (but not really) based on the muscle. Don't look at the scale. Can you fit your clothing the same? I weigh more this month than last month and fit my clothes better. Muscle is heavier and takes up less space. So 5'4" women at 135 wear 3/4 and so does a 115 women. Relax. Do more weights and check to see what your thyroid is doing. Keep sodium low. I will gain 2 lbs in one day from eating salty foods and if I don't drink enough to flush it out, it takes a while to work it's way out. Do this: Weigh yourself with a digital to the 1/2 lb scale. Drink 2 cups of water Weigh again. See? You gained a lot. Woman or man? If you are on your period, don't even think about how much you weight.
  17. Awwww man, I am totally interested in who. Rock on for you becoming vegan! Congrats! Veganly, Christina
  18. I lost 60lbs. I wrote what I did here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1997766/motivation_and_inspiration_for_weight.html and http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2068091/my_top_10_ultimate_fat_burning_tips.html More veggies, more beans, lay off the sugar treats but once a day. Read what CandyFlip did in the before and after section. Tonight's dinner 1 can of washed chickpeas, 4 cups of greens, 2 tablespoons light balsamic dressing (Newman's Own), 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast. That is a lot of protein, fiber, and greens. I also use black eyed peas and others. Here's a recipe here for lentil burgers, loads of protein, fiber, nutrition: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2015608/southwest_lentil_burger_zippy_zero.html
  19. Sure, there's some ripped women on the profiles page. It's just that the diet (omni or vegan) is soooo strict and so much protein (likely 1.5 g per lb) and so few carbs. Our lower bodies are not meant to be that ripped, our fat is the survival of the species and our prehistoric systems are built to hold on to it.
