6/5/06: I've eaten a lot of fruit, but haven't had a nice salad yet today, though my cooked food is a little higher then it should be, though I'm trying to pack on a couple pounds. I can't keep total track of calories, but a lot of things I eat I can easily measure, so I'll know if I'm eating more if I compare days. Today I had: 3 bananas 4 spoonfuls of Natural PB 1 bowl low-fat high protein raisin granola 1 bowl homemade bean soup 1 apple 2 handfuls of raisins 1 cup orange juice

That's awesome Rob. Unlike everyone else trying to lose their weight to look good on the beach, or whatever it is everyone else does, I too am trying to put on a couple pounds. I've been eating big and heavy, but I can't keep track of the weight because I've been doing some flushes & cleanses (thanks to the advice and help of BigBwii ), and eliminating lots of waste too, so I can't keep track of gains.

I think this forum is one of the greatest, because I can't think of any time sometime said something sarcastic and derogatory at the same time. We joke about each other, but nothing like what you get when you visit a lot of meat eating forums. I've been bashed too in several forums. One thread I answered once was a question for "What are good protein sources that you guys eat?" Everyone said, "Just eat, eat, eat, eat lots of meat", and then I said "I adhere to a vegan diet, so I get a lot of rice, grain, beans, nuts, seeds, and other good protein sources that even could make good side dishes with the meat everyone else was suggesting (Yes, I went that far)", and they all said that "I should be careful not to grow breasts eating soy" and that I was a "Pussy", because I didn't eat meat. This is why outside of my own interest in staying fit, and this forum, I really don't have an interest in bodybuilding.

Cool! What brands & models are you considering? I don't know, I have to look more into it. -
Vegans in the Shooting sports

I'm thinking about getting a .45 pistol sometime soon to use on a shooting range not too far from here, but my father has several rifles in the house. -
How are you doing? I don't live that far from Danbury CT, and I used to head up that way all the time, but it sounds like you're a bit further East.
-
I normally make sure I take it with some kind of food, though I just take a vegan multivitamin.

That one post really annoyed me about how all "Veggies and Vegans try to press their life on other people", when you didn't do that at all, and we live in a world where people press eating meat on us. I hate people sometimes.

http://www.infendo.com/2006/04/real-life-super-mario-bros.html That's a really funny one for anyone who has ever owned a Nintendo.

There's a farm near me that grows all organic food and has enough variety, but New Jersey is pretty famous for their agriculture, so I can get a lot of local things, most of which is fruit & corn.

I've heard Flatland was a really good book, and I want to read it, though I'm not sure if it's fiction...anymore. The book deals with a square living in a 2d world and a being from a 3d universe comes, and is able to make moves that the 2d square can't even begin to comprehend, which makes you wonder about 4,5, & 7d universes, and how we may not be able to comprehend movements that they can do.

Not to say that what you're eating isn't delicious or anything, but if you want to kill what seems to be an addiction, I'd recommend a salt water flush. After you flush a couple of quarts of salt water through you, cravings for things really seem to cool down. Talk to BigBwii too, he'll say the same thing.

That was another thing I wanted to do too, was to get a few cases of raw food bars while I was out there.

Earlier today I was going to make up the "Day of the week that you were born on diet".

I built my calves with several Friday nights at arcades playing Dance Dance Revolution...I wish I was making that last statement up. ...Which I just realized is a machine....I don't know, just being active works though.

6-1-06 Got off to a bad start, and I'm going to be working a lot of hours, so I'm going to hopefully be eating a lot to retain my calorie count while on my feet several hours a day.

Vegan Bodybuilder Vs. Vegan Bellybuilder anyone?
Odidnetne replied to loveliberate's topic in General Discussion
Jonathan, you make me laugh, even though I know you're a powerlifter, in a world where so many people are overweight and out of shape, you're quite possibly the only person I could imagine saying "Oh! I STILL HAVE A 6 PACK! ARGH!" I'll get in on this too. It's hard to take pictures of myself and actually see the definition or actual size, so please excuse the stupid face as I try to flex out as much as I can for my solo pictures. -
I'm going to have to put in extra hours for the plane ride, but I don't think I can make it all 6 days, but we'll see what goes on, I definitley want to get out there and meet some of the people on the boards.
-
I'm just going to say because a lot of people have never been to California, and would want to go, but I want to get off of the East Coast before I die.
-
According to this, everyone gets to eat meat, except for Type A. This is the dumbest idea I've ever heard, and people would use this as an excuse to not go vegetarian/vegan too.
-
I'm going to look into what it'll cost to get out there, but if I went, it may have be a shorter period, like 3 or 4 days instead of 6, I'll have to see.
-
Oh, I know it's bad and everything. I just mean overeating watermelon is not as bad as opposed to say, a large amount of cooked, processed food, like an entire box of cereal or an entire jar of roasted almond butter.
-
Overeating is definitley bad, but I mean, overeating fruit is probably one of the last things you should worry about, especially if you're working out. I'm not a fruitarian (yet), but I do eat a large percentage of raw food and a large percentage of that is fruit, but outside of eating too many avocados, I can't really think of any that aren't good to eat.
-
You're probably right, it probably isn't your lifting change that did it (you have quite a detailed view on your workouts too). I'd suggest doing what I just did, and starting a food/nutritional log in the Online Journal's section. Maybe if this continues, you might see that you're starting to lack somewhere in carbs/proteins/calories/etc, and might be able to credit it to something outside of exercise/fitness, like more hours at work. Then again, Jonathan's idea is a pretty good one too though.
-
I'm really not that big on keeping a log for how much weight I top off with when I workout, just as long as I notice progress and can maintain what I'm currently doing, but I wanted to monitor my food intake, just to see what kinds of patterns I might fall into, I'm going to start this on 5/30/06.
