  1. I thought blossoming lotus was on a different island... Anyway - welcome aboard. I spent the better part of last summer out on Maui. Where do you live on the island?
  2. Geeze we got some dudes with stacked legs on this forum. Well done dudes.
  3. Last dude in that carrot top pic is the kid.
  4. Potentially dangerous works for me.
  5. I was looking for the first one. But the second might work too...
  6. Definitely a good change of pace. Dumbbells that go up to 130 kind of sold me. I tried out the 105s the other day while I was there. Ain't nothing but a peanut.
  7. Pink - You ever see the movie Mask?
  8. Ya didn't by chance think about using an "imho" in that post somewhere maybe perhaps?
  9. Rob - To be clear, my post wasn't meant to suggest use of gun imagery. I only meant to suggest a play on the word vegan and the common usage of the word "guns" to reference biceps. My bad if that wasn't clear. -a
  10. Salim was at the Y in the weightroom when I was there a week or two back. He looked like he was in pretty good shape. Didn't know he was vegan. Good for him.
  11. Maybe something with a play on the 'guns' theme. Like a shirt that says "Ve-Guns" or something on the chest with arrows pointing towards the biceps? I don't know that I'd buy it but someone might. Or maybe I just can't picture it well.
  12. I went to loprinzi's for the first time yesterday (despite living within 15 blocks for the last 23 years or so). That place has some serious weight. Owner was friendly too. Looks like I'm canceling the Y membership. Lop's is way closer, cheaper, and about equally equipped. It's a shame it took me this long to get there. -a
  13. Live with them if ya can, I usually let the spiders run free if it's just one or two. If ya can't live with them then catch them and take them outside. And if you can't catch them and relocate them then squash em. Sorry bugs. -a
  14. Monster and redbull should both be vegan. Try google maybe?
  15. Awesome. I like seeing vegan food around the world :- )
  16. Definitions: 1. To make steady progress; prosper. 2. To grow vigorously; to flourish. Dinosuars THRIVED for 150 million years on raw food (no cookers or microwaves needed) Up until the discovery of fire, we THRIVED on raw food. Our current population because of that success is now in excess of 6.7 billion. What are you implying? That if the MILLIONS of species thriving on raw food would be more succesful if they grilled their bracken? Are you implying that the MILLIONS of species thriving on raw food would be more succesful if they pan fried their latest catch of buffalo? Should they sautee the next aphid they catch? http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_species_of_organisms_are_estimated_to_inhabit_the_earth How many of that 2 - 100 million cook their food? I didn't imply, or certainly didn't mean to imply, any of that. I asked if you had a link to support your suggestion about humans thriving on raw diets. The population graphs I'm familiar with (example) would indicate to me that our 'thriving' is a very recent phenomenon and probably isn't linked to a raw food diet. I'd be curious to see information you had otherwise. Or maybe we're just approaching the word differently...
  17. Survived is pretty much in line with my understanding. Good call : )
  18. Marijuana muscle... Those guys ever catch flack from the marijuana != hemp crowd?
  19. Oy VEY! Yay! Life needs more yiddish.
  20. I've seen some flakiness in my time. And I've ridden the bus so I know bout the folks who aren't so fresh. But I'm really curious about your take on the dating... abysmal?
  21. Los Gorditos taco cart. Kalga Kafe. Bete-Luca(?) ethiopian spot Small world Cafe (next to veganopolis) Various sushi spots Indian Chaat House (cart) Cha Cha Cha Rocco's Pizza Vege Thai Blossoming Lotus I guess too, haven't been lately though. And in the morning- Paradox (corn cakes) Jam (bfast scramble) I was crazy for that vietnamese place on division/84th until the staff came over to take my order and had her gloved finger half-way up her nose... after I was raving to my date about how good the place was. Now I don't go : / The other one is too far down 82nd for me to make it a regular spot but it's good too. And no finger/nose issues that I've seen yet.
  22. Good to have you aboard : ) Your commitment is impressive. My biggest piece of advice is this: The only good workout for you will be the one you'll actually do. If whatever plan/program/methods people advise you to try become a hassle and you dislike them then you'll have serious disincentive to do them. And that would be a bummer. What's worked for me is eating more fresh fruits and veggies, and less processed food. Rice, beans, veggies, tofu, fruit, salads. There's lots of yummy stuff out there that's good for ya too. On the activities front I'm usually doing something active everyday or nearly everyday - even if it's just a 30 minute jog/walk. I also lift 2x a week using free weights. I've been impressed with the results.
