Biking across the country for charity!!!
chesty leroux replied to chesty leroux's topic in General Discussion
I'm halfway to my fundraising goal of $4000. I still need more help! Please consider donating if you are in a position to do so! Thanks! Ashley -
Hey guys so here is the deal, I am fundraising to ride my bike across the country for charity and build houses while i am doing it with habitat for humanities. I am so serious about it that I am getting rid of a majority of my stuff. I have some awesome books that I wouldn't otherwise part with BUT i have a fundraising deadline tomm april 10th! So, if you want to make a reasonable donation to bike and build in my name (keep in mind its for charity and i still have to pay shipping) you can have one of these books. Not only do you get a sweet book, but you get the satisfaction of knowing that your money is going towards helping people. I will also barter for cycling gear, I need shorts, SPD pedals, multi tool, sunglasses, seat bag... ALso I have a sweet pair of vegan Doc MArtens UK 7 i wear a ladies 8.5/9. They are made out of burlap looking material and super awesome. i wouldnt part with these if it wasnt for this bike trip either. I think these are one of a kind, PM me for a pic. PM me for more information! I have striations in my glutes!
chesty leroux replied to robert's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
Robert, first, congrats on your sweet new ass. second, i dont know if you remember but I hurt my back pretty bad a few years ago and I have to tell you, DUDE pilates, and yoga make a HUGE difference. Pilates for strengthening the little stablizer muscles, and yoga for stretching out your hips and hams, which pull on your back alot. Mines not always great but those two things help me alot. SO DO THEM!!!! love ash -

Thanks Laura! It is a great organization! I am so excited to be working with them. As a young person I don't have the financial means to really support charities, but I can give up my time and my body and do some work to help other people!!! We'll see how this summer goes, maybe next year I can plan a fundraising ride for farm sanctuary my fav animal rescue charity! Anywaysm if anyone else thinks this is cool please consider donating!!!! I need all the help I can get. Thanks love ash -

Ya the whole idea of bike and build it totally amazing! It kindof blew my mind when I heard about it. I wanted to ride my bike across the country anyways, but this seems the best way to do it, with a group of likeminded young people...and with an organized cause. I'm not just raising money, I'm donating my time and body. The concept of helping to build peoples houses is totally sweet. My trip builds for 5 days in New Orleans and a few days here an there in a bunch of other places! You should look into it. There might be spots left for this year but if not this year, Ages are 18-25 so youve got a few more summers! -ash -

nobodys interested... -
Hey guys, Haven't been around much. Kinda have this two jobs/still trying to get my degree/trying to get in shape thing going on. Anyways, over the summer I will be riding my bike across the country with a non-profit organization called Bike and Build. Not only do we ride across the country, we help build houses along the way with organizations like habitat for humanities. It's totally awesome. Before I go I am trying to lose 50 pounds and use Vega as my main supplement in my training so I can represent! Anyways I have to fundraise $4000 before I go so I wanted to post the link and if anyone is interested in donating that would be totally awesome. http://www.bikeandbuild.org/donate pick my name Ashley Berkman from the drop down list to make a donation. Any amount will help. There are so many members, if everyone gave me a few bucks that would be enough to get me started! Also if anyone has any fundraising ideas that would be sweet too. So far I've had some bake sales, and this weekend I am putting on an open mic night at a local coffee shop. We are also going to have a garage sale/barbeque with a cake walk ( star of the show will be vegan dreamsickle cake) and possibly an 80's prom if we can find a venue that will let us do it for free!!!! Please help, and pass along to anyone you know who might be interested in donating! Thanks, Love ash

chesty leroux replied to chesty leroux's topic in General Discussion
thanks for the feedback. I guess I have an idea of what you are saying....but i'm not totally sure. The blog I am applying for is not one that is super in depth...its more of a "point you in this direction" thing so that is how i tried to make my sample blogs. -
Hey all, I am trying to get an animal rights blogging job and was wondering if you could take a look at my sample blogs and give me some feedback! thanks- ash http://ashleyberkmansampleblogs.blogspot.com

is this bike any good?
chesty leroux replied to chesty leroux's topic in General Fitness/Other Sports
thanks potter. i think she's going to get it today. Apparently it's been in a storage unit unridden since 1984, which is pretty crazy. We're going on a 30 -65 mile ride this weekend, and in june we are riding for 5 days on the bike virginia tour. We're gonna get new bikes before we do any big touring. i like this one http://centurycycles.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=2378 except for the leather seat. -
hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a good used bike to get ? My girlfriend and I are cycling enthusiasts and we ride for fun, transportation, and are getting into short touring. http://norfolk.craigslist.org/bik/675339541.html also, what about the pieces, Dia Compe brakes, Sakae SA crank set, Shimano Deraileurs are those good too? I don't know anything about them but I would like to learn!!! thanks! ash

i used to do that all the time. My advice would be make sure it stays pumped up. Mine would deflate gradually and suddenly my knees would start hurting.

that was freakin hilarious.
