  1. Thanks so much for the shout out and for the kind words, Gorilla! You're one of the original members, from back in 2005! There have been so many connections made here for the past 8 years or so. That is one of my favorite aspects about this community. Some people have actually met through this forum and have become married, have had children together, others have become engaged, are roommates, or best friends. It is really fun to see.   4. Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Yeah, we just created this "Admin" account to host contests, post links to our newsletter and other VBB.com-related stuff. I probably should have clarified that when we posted it. My partner is doing a lot of the behind the scenes work, so she actually crated the account and I quickly typed up the contest. Throughout my travels I do meet people who begin bodybuilding in their 50s or 60s. I know of people well into their 70s who are at the gym regularly. This could be at a park, a school playground or any other bar that is safe to hang from by your hands holding your bodyweight. We don't live "on" planet Earth, we live "in" it. We're part of it and we can make a difference through our actions. Did you know, US food consumption is 2,200 pounds per person per year, just over six pounds of food a day? This comes out to roughly 3,800 calories per person per day. On average, we consume 280 calories of sugar per person per day and 580 calories from fats per person per day. Half of the total US land area is used for food production and 80% of our fresh water is used for food production. The Average American Consumes: 600 cans of soda per year 15 pounds of potato chips per year 50 pounds of popcorn per year When looking at resources for food production, consider the following: Corn uses 600,000 gallons of water per acre Rice uses 1,000,000 gallons of water per acre 1 loaf of bread takes 250 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef requires 5,000 gallons of water to produce Plant-Based diet eaters save about 50% more energy than the average person. The United States produces 7 million sheep, 100 million cattle, and 9 billion chickens per year for human food consumption. The resources required for this level of production are immense, with global implications, and come with a major price. We pay a price with our health, with our quality of lives, with our wallets and the overall environment around us. By choosing a plant-based diet and vegan lifestyle, you contribute significantly less overall environmental destruction and help protect our home. Compassion really does begin on your plate. Please join us in our quest to protect mother Earth. Consider a diet based on fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, grains, and seeds. The primary sources of nutrition; vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids all come in their original forms from plant-based whole foods.
