  1. In my case, I got the most improvement in my skin by juicing spinach, kale, or other dark green leafy veggies. They have the most nutrition by far and I believe they heal the liver tremendously. An easy way to juice those veggies are to blend them up in a blender w/water. Next, empty the mix into a strainer and collect the juice in a bowl underneath. You can save all the fibrous material for later use if you want. I add a fruit and stevia to the juice once finished. It doesn't cause me gas at all. If I blend just the veggies, water, and fruit without straining, my gut is hit hardcore. As for grains and legumes, in my opinion, I would eat them. I think they are great because they are complex carbs, contain a good amount of protein, fiber, and minerals. The one's I'd be cautious about are gluten containing, like wheat, barley, or rye. You might want to try milk thistle. It may work. I'm not into supplements unless absolutely needed, but it has shown to improve liver function. Also, to help with digestion, supplemental Pancreatin can help break down food since the liver is in not too good shape. Lower fat intake. I don't eat isolated oil because they have no micro nutrient value and they are very high in calories. Anybody can get all the fat they need from seeds, nuts, or avocados. Cabbage juice is also great for the gut. It has Vitamin U, which can help heal ulcers. Almost 70% of the immune system is in the gut. Plus, dairy-free Acidophilus can help restore gut flora and get rid of many invaders of the G.I. tract. Hope this helps
  2. I'm doing the best I can to keep toxins out of my body. I realize there is toxic in everything, but I'm not gonna give into something just because it doesn't have an enormous amount of poisons. I only put toxins into my body if I have to or I don't have the tools to filter them out. I just have a different standard of how much I should care for my body. What's wrong with this? Nothing. Yes, wine probably won't take that much time off of your life. Still, I keep bad things out as much as possible (even if wine would only take 10 minutes off my life). Other things I keep away from also add to my longevity. All of these good choices become cumulative to extending your life. That's why I'm so strict.
  3. I'm not sure what their diets are like. Out of courtesy, do you know veganpotter? My mindset is that anything harmful for the body in any amount is still harmful for the body. Anything else is a rationalization.
  4. You can find exercise instruction video clips all around the net like youtube. Just get your feet wet and you can teach yourself. Nobody has to teach you anything. The info is out there.
  5. When I tried being a vegan the first time, I lost muscle mass, body weight, strength, and memory. It was because I wasn't eating enough calories. The thing I realized after becoming a vegan my 2nd time (which I've been ever since) is that you can eat so much more food compared to an omnivorous diet. It's all about the type of calories you get. My diet consists of so many nutrients with so little calories. I also follow the Eat to Live philosophy, NOT a McDougall grain-based-low nutrient diet. Plus, I don't take protein powders because of their low nutrient density and I believe, just as Dr. Fuhrman, that you can get all of your protein in proportion with how much calories you eat from whole foods. Since this program, my strength has risen, I have become ripped, gained more muscle mass, and have a mind as sharp as an arrow. My brother keeps telling me, "you can't stay this big because you aren't getting enough protein". Still, I haven't lost any muscle mass whatsoever. Oh, how omnivores are blind from the truth ...   6. Why not just drink grape juice or eat some grapes? Ethanol and excess Acetal Aldehyde isn't good for you, whether it's in wine or beer or liquer.
  7. I was in the bad shape when I counted calories because I based a subjective standard to my body's mechanics. I was eating too much because I calculated that I "needed" to eat that much. I just listen to my body when I'm hungry, and only eat when I'm hungry. I don't do a post workout shake and all that stuff if I'm not hungry after my workout. I don't do shakes at all. Anyway, I'm in the best shape of my life because I listen to my body cuz my body knows exactly how many calories I need. I just make sure I get some seeds and avocado everyday. people try and make it so important to have a "perfect" ratio of fat/carbs/protein. As long as your food is healthy, there's not too much to worry about unless you go overboard with a particular macro nutrient. Just not eating that much fat is good enough in my opinion

  9. Crepitus. Some say its ok, some say its bad. I have it in my shoulder. It's because I lifted like an idiot before and now my shoulder isn't up to par like it should be. However, I get it when I do triceps, but it isn't painful at all. In my opinion, I think some cracking is ok while other cracking isn't. There may be incorrect rubbing of bone, etc, or it may not be bad enough to cause damage. I'd just get a feel and if it doesn't hurt, you're probably groovy.
  10. I was really huge and got a lot of stretch marks when I ate meat and drank whey protein. I was a big sick guy. Trust me, don't get stretch marks, they more than likely will never go away. The only damage I'm proud of is having calluses on my hands cuz I know that reminds me I'm dedicated in the gym . Stretch marks are like scars, they will shrink and become less noticeable, but not disappear.
  11. Only 100's of millions of people also need this info . I used to be a vegetarian who only ate coldwater fish, but I realized that I was sensitive to that a lot. During night time, my head would twitch before I went to sleep, now the twitch is gone. Also, my skin was very red, now it's doing very well. Thanks chlorophyll! Veganism is awesome if you know what you're doing.
  12. I ate a good amount of sunbutter one day, and I jogged about 2 times the distance than I was able to at a normal level.
  13. How many of you liberally consumed dairy before being vegan? If so, did you experience any bad symptoms? When I consumed dairy, I developed eczema so bad that my skin would ooze blood. Dairy is evil.
  14. Regarding your question if people have experienced problems with pills such as SSRI's and Benzos, listen... My brother was put on Xanax when he was 13. He was doing better until he started abusing them until he lost all of his money and dropped out of college. The doctor has taken him off of this drug due to his highly addictive behavior. For the past 2 years, he has been literally sleeping on his couch in utter despair. He thinks Xanax is the only thing that will save him, even though it destroyed him. In my opinion, it's not too complicated. You have an imbalance either physically or mentally. Maybe your diet isn't up to par. Many vegans think they are healthy just because they vegans, but that isn't reality. If people live on tofu and rice milk, their health will suffer just as much as a meat eater. Maybe you do have a "chemical imbalance" in your brain, but it is more than likely due to a nutrient deficiency. I was on Lexapro for depression and my sex drive went out the window. Because of this, I deeply researched nutrition and started eating much more green vegetables. My depression diminished, snap, like that. The only times I do get emotional is when my brother tells me how hopeless his situation is (he won't take my advice). You may have something wrong with your belief system. There is a great lecture you can listen to by Gary Null here. Based on my life's experience, the best thing that helped me with monkey chatter in my brain is just letting go and let the universe guide you. It may sound strange, but this philosophy is taught in a variety of religions, especially Taoism. This technique has helped me the most out of anything. In my opinion, you can actually cause a lack of serotonin in the brain. If dogs can cause themselves to salivate over the sound of a bell, I guarantee you that a person can inflict brain damage when presented a certain stimulus. By the way, the gut secretes over 95% of the body's serotonin. People don't tell you that, do they? hmmm... I'd use drugs as an absolute last resort. It's only suppressing the symptom and not addressing the cause. There are natural antidepressants out there also, such as 5-htp and L-Tyrosine. Do your best not to feed the pharmaceutical demon . Like butter, cheese, and meat, tropical oils raise LDL cholesterol and clog arteries with plaque, increasing your risk of a heart attack. We use coconut oil (because it is so highly saturated) in animal experiments to create atherosclerotic plaque for studying heart disease in animals. There are different kinds of saturated fats with different impact on LDL cholesterol levels. One long-chain sat fat, stearic acid, has little impact on LDL cholesterol. But other long-chain saturated fatty acids, like the ones that make up most of the saturated fat in coconut and palm oils (known as tropical oils), do in fact raise LDL cholesterol considerably. These saturated fats are called palmitic, myristic, and lauric acids. They also make up most of the saturated fatty acids in meat, poultry, and dairy fats like milk and cheese. Other saturated fats that have little impact on LDL cholesterol levels include medium-chain varieties like caproic, caprylic, and capic acids. A small percentage of the saturated fat in coconut oil, about 10%, is made up of these less harmful saturated fatty acids, but virtually all the rest of coconut oil’s saturated fat is made up of the long-chain varieties that raise LDL. Coconut oil is getting promoted on the web, internet and even the health food industry, claiming its healthy because most of its fat is made up of medium chain fatty acids (MCT), which are metabolized differently. Yes, it is true that a small portion of coconut oil is MCT (C-6 to C-10 fatty acids) and these do get oxidized more quickly and have little impact on LDL-C levels. However, because the vast majority of saturated fatty acids in coconut oil are the longer chain fatty acids, C-12 to C-16 (lauric, myristic and palmitic acids) it does in fact elevate LDL-C. The idea that MCT fats will induce weight loss or detoxify the liver is an example of alternative nonsense at its highest level. Coconut oil is 92% saturated, making it more saturated than butter, beef tallow, or even lard. Palm oil, though it contain less saturated fat (50%), is full of a type of saturated fat, palmitic acid, which appears to be most conducive to heart disease. You just can't believe everything you read on the internet. This man above (and Dr. Mercola too) has been taken in by health food industry hype, it is wrong. The coconut oil industry likes to point out that the traditional Polynesian diet - high in tropical oils like coconut - is linked with relatively low rates of heart disease. However, it's important to remember that heart disease involves multiple variables. It is not all fat. The high consumption of fruits, vegetables, fish and the low consumption of cheese and beef obviously are critical in studies of people on traditional Polynesian diets with low rates from heart disease. To attribute the benefit to consuming coconut oil is very deceptive and a clear marketing ploy. I for one am not claiming that eating coconuts is unhealthy in the context of an otherwise healthy diet or that a little saturated fat is so deadly, rather it is the low level of micronutrients eating a diet rich in processed foods such as oil and the high consumption of animal products that shifts natural plant food off our plate that are key. But anyone that claims coconut oil is a health food, or good quality butter is good for you, is clearly not someone you should trust with your health."

  17. Gluten is a big ingredient (oats, wheat, rye, barley, etc) to cause acne along w/eggs, nuts, soy, fish, shellfish, and milk. You prolly don't eat a lot of these foods if you are vegan. Based on my research, it seems that acne is usually cause by excess fat consumption or a zinc deficiency. Napa cabbage is great for zinc. I don't eat any isolated oils (due to very low nutrient density), so cutting those out might help also. Instead, I eat seeds/avocados. Hope this helps you.
  18. Quit trying to control something that is uncontrollable....life. Everybody has different judgments and nobody sees the world the way you do, so don't think that way. Some people might like your ding a ling and some might laugh. The fact is that everybody has different judgments. Too many people try to become perfect even though that is impossible, so why try? My advice is to let go of all the bullshit that is packed in your head from society and media and let mother nature heal you. Let go, it's as simple as that. Life is too complex to assume what someone wants out of you. Go with the flow. Nature has been here trillions of years. I would rather trust that than my fragile mind.   19. A lot of really green veggies (kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, etc) and fruits. I'm not into supplements. They're not a natural food (they are processed) and I think they should only be used if absolutely necessary. They cause an unnatural flow of one's physiology. That's my opinion.
  20. Asians consumed and still consume seafood, which contains carnosine. Based on my findings, it seems that excess sugars/starch can lead to glycation, which vegan diets rely on, especially to get adequate protein (legumes and grains are starchy). On that noteI'm gonna supplement it just to be sure of proper health.
  21. I make a kale smoothie for breakfast. It's fresh kale blended with water, a banana, 1/2 a cup of oatmeal, 1tbsp of ground flax seed, and some stevia for sweetness. Blend that in a blender and you're good to go.
  22. I turned 100% vegan about 11 days ago. During the first 7 days, I would have many moments where my mind felt very out of touch with reality even though I felt very good and was getting healthier. Because of this, I almost started eating fish again, but thought "this is probably detox right now", so I stuck to it. Then, during the next three days, my mind snapped back into reality and I mentally felt better than I was as a pesco-vegetarian. Currently, I still feel good and my mind is sharp as a knife. (By the way, I ate all the nutrients I needed, so I'm almost 100% positive it wasn't a nutrient deficiency.) Has anyone ever witnessed memory problems I faced when first turning vegan? P.S. I'm ok now
