What do you like about your gym & what annoys you?
veganmomma replied to sosso's topic in General Discussion
I can see why that annoys you. I couldn't tolerate hearing house music when I'm trying to work out either. -
Congrats on the PB and on setting the state record.

What is the zone? I'm tired of hearing people on this thread complaining about BO. It's a gym what do you expect? Try grappling with someone for 20 minutes who doesn't shower before class, has bad breath, and washes his Gi once every FIVE years. Stinking hand wraps and gloves are the worse. I spray Febreze on my Gi, handwraps and inside my gloves after class. -

I can't speak to what kind of training they do, but during a game they don't just run, they sprint. That's quite a bit different from any endurance running. Yeah, during the game. In practice they probably do a combo of H.I.I.T. Tabata Method, and endurance running as in miles. I used to watch football practice in high school when I had soccer practice and the football players did wind sprints as well as longer distance running. In high school football players play both sides of the ball offensive and defense. I have friends who played Divison I soccer in college and they ran 10 miles a day along with wind sprints, etc... A soccer game is like a football game, lots of short sprints, quick burst. My friends who played soccer were pretty ripped when they were younger.

Anyone in WASHINGTON DC or PHILADELPHIA wanna meet?
veganmomma replied to Andreafrancis's topic in General Discussion
I workout in the living room of my apartment which only fits ONE person So since I would make two people I guess we're just meeting? My futon seats four people. I have a backyard and plenty of folding chairs. -

How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don't think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with "flax eggs" which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This make the recipe completely vegan! Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables. Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce. Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats. Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also found in abundance in these tasty nuts. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy0NWgWrMdM

Now you've reminded me of a group whose discs I need to pick up one of these days I lived off of Iron Maiden for all of 1986 and 87 - I honestly don't remember listening to anything else during that time except for the occasional AC/DC song and that's about it. I need to buy Powerslave and Somewhere in Time on CD. My audio cassettes are older than dirt.

I was watching Iron Maiden videos from the 80's the other day on youtube. It brought back memories of my youth.

So, how strict is everybody else re: vegan eating?
veganmomma replied to VegannNY's topic in General Discussion
What is the difference between a vegan or strict vegetarian, if a vegan or strict vegetarian eats meat 1-2 times a year for the holiday season during family get togethers? Yes, I know there's a difference b/t a vegan and a strict vegetarian. Is someone not a vegan or strict vegetarian if they eat animal products 1 out of 100 meals, 1 out of 1000 meals, 1 out of 10,000 meals? What business is it of the Food Police (FP) to monitor what the average Joe/Jane Vegan or Joe/Jane strict vegetarian eats so the food police can issue a citation for not meeting the FP criteria? It's sounds like the single drop of negro blood litmus test to determine whether or not someone is considered to be white. Those damn mulatto, quadroon, and octoroon vegans are deluting the dietary master race. -
