  1. Hey guys and girls, my name is robert and im from california and i am 24 yrs old, i would like to tell you guys a little bit about myself. First off i would just like to say that a lot has lead me to where i am currently in my life as far as my weight and lifestyle, let me first start by saying that on may 1st of 2007 is when i first started my weight loss journey. i have been a big guy my whole life with no lifting experience what so ever, no knowledge of nutrition, just plain out fat, no muscle really. I am 6"3 and at the time was 299.8 pounds. Where i was working they had a free gym so i decided i might as well try, my friend said we should go and i agreed(he's an ectomorph really lean with some muscle so he was always trying to get me to go because he liked working out), it was when i stepped on the scale that i knew i needed to do something about my life and health overall. So i started out just cutting out obvious stuff since i had no idea about nutrition. Guys at this time i was still an omni but i didnt even realize that i was eating so little meat. I lost weight primarily on odwalla bars, yoplait yogurts, milk, and amys dinners and an occasional turkey burger. Doing cardio every single day and very very little cheat days i cut my weight down to 232 pounds by october of 2007. Ok ok so ill fast forward a little bit. still with no real lifting experience because i lost all that weight with doing 95% cardio. I dropped the ball a little bit when i moved to portland, oregon. My ectomorph friend wanted to move there so we did. I met my girlfriend who im still with today there. Met her in August of 2008, she was a vegetarian and very against animal slaughter and fur etc. But she said she didn't mind me eating meat as long as i respected her views and i agreed, BUT she wasn't a very healthy vegetarian at ALL. She always ate fast food without the meat and ate a lot of processed junk and drank soda. It rubbed off on me too because it was fast and easy. anyways i started eating fast food everyday literally and started drinking soda again. So i started to gain weight back. Fast forward a little bit, my friend ended up moving with his girlfriend to Spokane, WA. So me and my girl that i met in portland moved back to california because my father has ALS(Lou Gehrig's disease, he just got it last year while i was away in oregon) so we are taking care of him right now. Ok so i was wondering how much weight i had gained because my clothes fit a lot different then before. So i stepped on the scale at 263 Pounds and once again decided to do something about it. By now i know a lot more about nutrition and calories and different foods etc so i dropped my weight to about 242, Started to look into vegetarianism for health reasons, Made the switch over on May of 2009 to vegetarian overnight after watching meet your meat haven't looked back since. during that time my girlfriend went completely vegan. Today i am transitioning to veganism, i weigh in at 218 pounds, my lowest weight ever in my adult life still not at my goal but getting there. I Can FINALLY do push ups!! i am so excited about that. I am also helping my gf make healthier choices she is also losing weight, we don't drink soda anymore etc. (since november of 08 ive only had 1 soda, she has had 0) Definitely feel like veganism is the way to go, i feel so strongly about it that once i make the full switch and reach my goals i am going to look into becoming a personal trainer and use myself as an example as of why veganism is a healthy lifestyle. Ok so i didn't reread my story and wrote it pretty quick so sorry if it doesn't make any sense lol. I hope it makes a little sense i know some might be confusing because im cramming 2 years together, but i'm really excited about joining this forum!!!!
