  1. This is from the newest one: I think that's perfectly written, and I agree 100%
  2. I've been playing guitar for about 13 years
  3. Iron I start bruising easily if I don't keep up my levels of iron, but as soon as I start supplementing it again my bruises go away
  4. Most ethical vegetarians I've met in person support PETA or any other organization that works for animal welfare, animal rights, etc. But a lot of people on internet message boards seem to have a "my way or the highway" attitude --- if PETA doesn't do everything exactly the way they like, then they'll bash them. I think the internet just attracts a lot of "glass is half empty" type people who look for the bad in things. You make a good point about veganbodybuilding.com though - it seems like a positive forum with lots of people with good energy.
  5. Cool! I'm going to order one to wear to the gym.
  6. When I first started working out, and especially when I first started doing squats I used to get really bad DOMS - where it hurt just to stand up or sit down. But I don't get post-workout soreness at all anymore. Compassionategirl - I don't get DOMS anymore, and I've been making steady gains for the past year or so. I do, however, feel a good burn while doing a set til failure. Also, I change my routine every few weeks or so to avoid boredom and to shock my muscles. Anyway, for me at least, I think the burn I get while I'm working out is a good thing, but DOMS doesn't really help me any.
  7. If you're looking for something to read, this site should keep you busy for a while http://www.animal-rights-library.com/
  8. Usually around 6 hours a night, and I like to take a big nap on Saturday afternoons
  9. swimming, soccer, running, swinging around on the monkey bars at the playground with my son I used to play street hockey, but I haven't played in probably 10 years
  10. I love berries. Any kind - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, they're all good. Also, I can't get enough citrus juice - my favorite is grapefruit juice. If I'm going for junk food though, I'll take Soy Delicious ice cream
  11. That's awesome. I love jumping in cold water, it really wakes you up. What part of Jersey?
  12. Cool, great way to get the word out. I hope to see it on TV sometime
  13. What's the "Ten/Slow Burn" workout like? I just did a google search for it, and I didn't find anything. I like HIT, because it seems to work well for me, but I also like experimenting around with new stuff.
  14. As far as sets and reps go - what I like to do best with weights is do a set or two until failure, and I set the weight so that I fail at around the 12th rep.
  15. Peanuts are supposed to be a good testosterone booster. Also, saw palmetto is believed to help prevent testosterone from breaking down into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), so taking that may keep your testosterone levels up.
  16. True man, I love eating peanuts, almonds, pecans, all kinds of nuts too. A lot of times I soak them or mash them so they're all nice and chewy.
  17. I don't know if this happens to anyone else - but when I go to veganbodybuilding.com in IE, it always freezes up. The site comes up perfect for me though in Firefox
  18. vegetarian multi w/B12 - I get whatever is on sale at the health food store, which is usually Solgar, VegLife, or Country Life cal-mag - I think the one I have in my cabinet right now is made by VegLife creatine - about 1/2 g/day Omega-Zen3 - has 300mg of Omega-3 DHA from microalgae
  19. mixed nuts and trail mixes lentil and other types of bean soups with vegetables avocados apples cereal and soy milk oatmeal bananas orange and grapefruit juice cheeseless pizza chips and salsa rice and beans
  20. Creatine can be found in animal flesh, particularly in the flesh of cows. However, all of the commercial creatine powders that I have come across have been synthetic, and have no animal parts. Also, in a study from Biological Sciences, Oct 22, 2003 v270 done on 45 vegetarian men, it was found that, "increasing creatine intake by oral supplementation (5g/day for 6 wks) resulted in improved brain function, similar to effects shown previously in muscle and heart." I understand the reasons why some people don't take it, and I respect that. But I personally recommend that vegans supplement with a small amount of creatine for the brain and heart benefits.
