  1. Hello, and welcome to the board! That floor thing is a dirty trick , and I'm sorry that happened to you. Glad you made it out of there though.
  2. Hello and welcome! Veg since you were born, that must be nice
  3. Oh, thanks dude. Just remember, we get paid for it, so it's not completely selfless

  5. Vans and Puma have some vegan models. Some are skate shoes, some are for martial arts, I haven't looked for running ones specifically on their sites, but they may exist. And where could you run barefoot if you don't live near a beach?
  6. I'm chomping at the bit to get back to doing things. This 2 weeks of inactivity SUCKS. And I'm only halfway there. I've been trying to stay off this forum, because it's depressing not being able to "play along" as it were. But I've been lurking around here and there.
  7. Well, I did it again...Tuesday, February 9, I went to Deadlift. I spent a long time stretching, because I was going to do an experiment. I put 135 on the ground and tried it with no belt. Second rep, first set, same tearing sensation as 2 weeks ago. I thought I was past this. I at least felt at 80% when I got there. Apparently not enough. I guess I jumped back in too soon. I thought I accounted for this, which is why I used the bare minimum on the barbell. I just don't understand this. 2 years ago I could do 225 lbs with no belt, what happened? I talked to my dad who used to be a trainer. He says maybe I'm just too tall for DLs. Went back to the doc today, and I'm down and out for 2 weeks now. Can't even go to work. Fuck.
  8. It doesn't seem like BSN even has a BCAA product. It's in some of there stuff but I don't see anything that's mostly BCAA. Hmm I thought they had. My mistake.
  9. Yeah Hilary, that guy is great. I saw a video of his a few months back. Not letting something like that keep you down is powerful.
  10. Don't know what to do, honestly. Damned if I do, damned if I don't, it seems like. 02/08/2010 At work again 24 hrs. Did nothing strenuous yesterday. Spent the day with my wife: Went to Church, took a nap, watched TV (but not the Superbowl ), ate food (but not as much as usual). Food: Bowl of Grape Nuts cereal with soy milk, 12 blackberries, and a banana 2 navel oranges 2 more bananas 1 PB Cliffs Bar 2 bowls of brown rice, tofurky kielbasa, black-eyed peas, spinach, tomatoes, and garlic 2 strawberry fruit leathers bowl of whole wheat penne, cashew cream sauce, sundried tomatoes, basil, and a Boca chikin patty
  11. Hey, welcome Arman! I'm sure you'll find lots of advice here. Read different people's training journals if you want, and pick out the stuff that works for you.
  12. Hey, welcome! 1. I don't know the answer to your first question for sure, but I always heard within 30 min of the end of your workout, and before you go to bed. This could be incorrect. Probably depends on the person anyway. 2. As far as I know the best advantage of free weights over machines is the recruitment of accessory/stabilizer muscles while lifting.
  13. Yeah, I just wish I didn't feel like I have to use a belt...The one time I didn't use it was when I got hurt.
  14. 02/06/2010 Working today for 24 hours, no gym time. Its snowing, so I'm not gonna go out to the shack and freeze my ass off while using rusted free weights. Food: Bowl of Grape Nuts cereal with soymilk and banana 2 navel oranges 2 pieces of fruit leather Pro Bar Koka Moka sandwich: 2 slices ezekiel bread, 6 slices tofurky, vegenaise, spinach, alfalfa sprouts another banana whole wheat penne with marinara and torfuky kielbasa PB Cliffs Bar
  15. I'm glad you're finding the time. It would be very sad if the thing that was your passion had to be set aside because of all the things that now keep you busy as a result of it. Know what I mean?
  16. Right on. Turns out my wife already knew about this cashew cream. No surprising her with good ideas I guess
  17. We have workout equipment at the stations, but its all second hand crap. The weight plates are rusted and some of them have actually broken in half. And the pads on the benches are torn to pieces. I used to use them every shift, but since I've started going back to the Y, I haven't felt the desire. The problem with throwing on the gear and exercising is that it doesn't breathe (for obvious reasons) so the inside gets really wet with sweat, and then its difficult to put back on when the bells go off. Same problem in the summertime, regardless of exertion, really. If I had a spare set of gear, I'd definitely do this because it would better simulate the conditions of the Combat Challenge.
  18. Welcome! I wish I had the land to do something like that with.
  19. They'd either panic and evacuate the building, or yell "Tool!" and throw things at me.
