Nice pictures! Can't say I want to run into bears on my hikes though.

Thanks for the welcomes! I must say the first week of the program didn't feel good! I was so sore but I know it's from starting up and I have hopes that will even out a bit so simple things like sitting aren't painful.

This is so good to see! I've always really enjoyed yoga, mostly for the mental benefits but good to know it can help or at least not disrupt lifting goals.

Hi, My name is Heather, currently live in NC. I've been an ethical vegan for 2+ years. While I've worked out off and on for the past ten years I've always avoided lifting like the plague. Why? Because it was always hard and made me sore! I would take the odd BodyPump class on occasion but that was about the extent of it. About two years ago I started running, did several 5ks and then got lazy again. I need to lose quite a bit of weight and working on that also. I am running again, doing yoga once a week and have started the New Rules of Lifting for Women program. I found a good forum with plenty of informaton on that program but got a little tired of the OMGZ protein thing they had going on. Don't get me wrong, I understand protein is important in general and even more so with trying to build muscle but I refuse to believe the extreme requirements some people followed. So I was directed here by a friend that used to frequent the forum and was so excited to see it seemed to be what I needed - advice with a vegan twist. So glad to be here!
