  1. I'm an Aussie. I don't post very much right now, I'm trying to get motivated.
  2. I bake all my bread and try to get a good mix of flours in. I don't remember what this is, I think it's mostly whole wheat and I added the pepitas because I like them http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs474.ash1/25981_380955143406_800013406_3616944_1209361_n.jpg This is no knead rye/wheat http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs140.ash2/40332_431687233406_800013406_4747348_4321412_n.jpg No knead spelt/wheat http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs193.ash2/45599_436912888406_800013406_4855865_4423678_n.jpg All purpose/whole wheat sandwich rolls http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs416.ash2/69402_461530663406_800013406_5262796_7816153_n.jpg Seitan sandwich on one of the sandwich rolls http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs291.snc4/40909_461542838406_800013406_5262902_4546140_n.jpg I'm still learning but it's really fun, tasty and cheap. I've just been getting books out from the library, so far I like Reinhart's the best. I tried to make sourdough before but never really got the starter happening correctly so I'll have to give that another shot. I'm really into seed-filled breads too so I'm going to experiment with more of that soon.
  3. I will often do: one banana, half an orange + big handful of greens (I prefer kale but will also do spinach and chard) + water. Sometimes I add vega smoothie infusion. Mango is nice instead of the orange too. I will also add berries but usually keep them to a minimum because they can turn your smoothie muddy.
  4. We didn't end up going up the mountain because it's been raining and it gets slippery up there but we went for a good walk on the rocks at the beach for an hour, which was fun.
  5. I heard somewhere that cross-country skiing at the skating level is as intense a workout as full-bore swimming. I've done both and: Yes. Ha, ha! Baby Herc I actually dated a cross-country skier last year! Unfortunately we are separated now because he lives in Germany and I'm in Australia. I tried it but it was my first time skiing so I wasn't very good, his whole family is so athletic, while mine thinks walking the dog for 20 minutes is a workout. No snow around me unfortunately! Lots of water, however. Meeeeeeee: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs092.snc3/15949_206459853406_800013406_2957795_4744668_n.jpg Thanks Baby Hercules for the Blackstrap Mollases suggestion but I can't stand it by itself! I've tried before and it's just repulsive to my tastebuds...but I like a tablespoon in cookies! haha Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I went for a jog yesterday, I'm going to see my dad today so we will walk the dog tonight and then tomorrow we are going to climb a mountain (it's Aussie Father's Day).
  6. Hello! Yes I noticed you and Mike on here, a couple of other PPKers too I think. Before now, I assumed you were female.
  7. Hello everyone! I'm a 21 year old student from Australia. I've been vegan for a year and I love it. My skin is better than ever, my teeth are whiter than ever, my hair is glossy, I've made friends because of it, my cooking skills just keep on growing and my IBS is all but gone. Best decision ever. I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin, I know that my worth doesn't change depending on how much tummy flubber I have, however, I really want to get fit because I love the power and energy I feel when I work out. I know how important health is, so even though it would be nice to get cut, I really want to get to the point where I'm glowing with health and want to jump out of bed everyday to get out in nature and go for a run. I'm really motivated to move towards a more fit & healthy lifestyle. My style of cooking is based on whole foods and I crave veg, beans, brown rice BUT I have a huge sweet tooth. Lately I've been trying to avoid processed sugar and treat myself to a raw food dessert with dates when the urge kicks in. I stopped my gym membership about a month or two ago because money is really tight right now, so ideally I'd like to do home workouts but I can pay-per-session at the gym if I ever feel the need. When I was a kid I hated running. I would literally cry at all the athletics carnivals in primary school because it was compulsory to enter a race! Now I really enjoy going for a light jog and it's a great free activity to clear my mind. I also love to do yoga, I've been a member of a bikram studio in the past and have done Vinyasa classes at the gym but now I'm following along with the free yoga today podcasts on iTunes. I've been enjoying them, it feels as though the teacher is right there with you. Apart from vegan cooking my interests are reading, learning languages (French & German, plus some Japanese skills that have gone seriously downhill!), teaching disadvantaged kids to read and I'm a bit of a news-hound. This is me today. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/nextaccount/P1010310.jpg I'd like to get rid of some extra weight around my midsection and upper arms but yeah, overall I just want to be fit and happy!
