I was so glad to get to know all of you Vegan Vacationers. I haven't posted much on this forum, but even prior to the vacation the members here in Portland have made me feel welcome as a part of their group. You are a special group of people. The day of the raw potluck was one of my favorite parts of the vacation. LizWorld, Jessifly, Michelle, and I had a "girls' day" that afternoon: going out to breakfast, going to Herbivore and Powell's, and making the raw apple pie. DV made some amazing food for the potluck, and I enjoyed talking to her and her husband. I also enjoyed being around the whole group, such as at the beach house, because you all have a great energy together. Here's our raw apple pie: [/img]http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/6954/img1999ho9.th.jpg

Vegan couple sentenced to life over baby's death

Related New York Times Op-Ed piece: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/21/opinion/21planck.html?em&ex=1179892800&en=c13b188909ccc603&ei=5087%0A I'm surprised the Times would publish an article with such a poorly supported argument. Citing "indigenous cultures" and "studies" does not make an ironclad defence, or even a good one. -
I am a lucky lady. Thanks for the well-wishes. I hope many of you who are going to the vacation will be there with us.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm a bit slow to start posting, but I'm working on it. You'll find me on the Recommended Reading section.

I love this book. Dawkins writes in such a lucid manner that the book is both can reach an academic and general audience. I always appreciate philosophers who do that. Too often such books are written such that one needs extensive training to understand them. I also thought highly of his efforts to humanize atheism to readers who might otherwise have highly prejudiced opinions of them. I'm sure more than one atheist appreciated that.

Dear forum members, It's a pleasure to make your aquaintances. My significant other (Vegan Potter) tells me stories about this forum all the time, and I look forward to getting to know you all. I've been vegan for 4.5 years. I love good vegan food, especially when I don't have to cook it. I read constantly--mainly literature, philosophy, religion, and feminist theory. Thank you for having me here.
