  2. I've lived my entire life with a chest deformity, mine is called 'pigeon breast.' I can tell you this from my experience, a woman who is disgusted because your chest is different, isn't the kind of woman you want to be around anyway. I've never had anyone comment negatively that I was seeing seriously. You are definitely not disgusting, and as the others above mentioned.. if you hadn't said anything.. I would never have seen any deformity.

If she is attracted to you, how your chest looks will be the last thing on her mind.

Check out gymnasticbodies.com... Like Yoga.. and more

  3. ah like I thought and often been told I'm vata-pitta any tip from your side?

    Read up on your Prakruiti.

Vata - Air - Low Digestive Fire - Raw Foods may cause increase in Air.. Lots of anxiety, thoughts etc.

Pitta - High Fire - Strong Appetite

Depends if you are Vata Dominant then you need to take care with your eating.

Look up the Vata-Pitta diet recommendations online.

PS: If you google for Ayurveda Encyclopedia PDF, you'll have a great reference. Add to that.. Google Books Search... You can read relevant sections in several books. . And ofcourse, buy one.

  4. World championship Gold goes to humble Indian Veg Wrestler:

    http://www.outlookindia.com/images/photoessays/sushil_kumar_20080922.jpg

Given that India is probably the worst country when it comes to support Sports Talent, absolute lack of training and funds.. unless you are a highly marketed CRICKET player. Other than that.. Indian sports... suffer..

I say hats off to this guy from a very HUMBLE background.

Sushil Kumar learnt all the Wrestling tit-bits from “Akhada” which is called a school for wrestling in India. This Akhada was in Chhatrasal Stadium. He started Wrestling at the tender age of 14 years. Although there are insufficient funds for wrestling and lack of proper trining is also there yet his family made it sure by sending him tinned milk, ghee and all beneficial vegetables that he always gets his full diet.

Sushil Kumar is presently employed as Chief Ticketing Inspector in Indian Railways ... (they dont make much)

    http://www.zimbio.com/2008+Beijing+Summer+Olympic+Games/articles/Jwx8S0pjHrS/WWC+Wrestler+Sushil+Kumar+Wins+Gold+Medal

[Read entire Article for his story... of lack of training, funds and of persistence]

An elusive Olympic medal for India may have changed the opinion of the world about him, but for wrestler Sushil Kumar life has been the same even after his miraculous achievement in Beijing.

For a man who has been rooted firmly to the old Indian tradition of guru-sishya, practicing hard and respect for the elders is all that he knows. Wrestling is his life and he is highly satisfied with his scruffy accommodation at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, a place where he has been staying for over a decade, learning the nuances of wrestling from his gurus. Far away from the glamorous world outside, he has never been to a movie theatre. This kind of sacrifice speaks volumes about a man who is dedicated entirely to his game.

    .................

I eat lots of almond, butter, ghee, fruits and drink milk (3-4 liters)

I have never been to a cinema hall: Sushil Kumar

    Sushil Kumar

The 25-year-old wrestler who came home with an Olympic bronze medal, drinks some four litres of milk everyday. “A wrestler needs to be strong and not overweight,” he says.

Fitness mantras: Kumar wakes up at the crack of dawn at 3 am. His gruelling exercise routine lasts between 3.45 am and 9 am and during this time he runs five to six kilometres followed by sprinting, stretching exercises, sit-ups and rope climbing. He rests between 9 am and 3 pm. But by evening he’s ready to start all over again. “However, I run only two kilometres in the evening,” says Kumar.

A vegetarian, Sushil’s diet includes rotis, pulses, paneer, sprouts and lots of fruits and badam milk.

  5. I am one of the most inflexible people I know. I used to take a yoga class that had mostly middle aged and senior citizens. I was one of the least flexible. I finally stopped going because it was so embarassing. Which is stupid, but whatever.

Do it. Go back.. stick with it.. slowly.. and then watch the changes in yourself.. physically, mentally and so on..

  6. Recommended After Stretching..

    - Yoga recommends the same.. Warmup & Joints loosening first.. and slowly more.. end with asanas with more antagonistic direction stretches

    - Gymnastics: Coach Sommers.. pretty much similar ...thoughts

    - BB (posted above)

People might mix some Active Stretching into Statich Stratching.. they are different and the way its done/ degrees etc different. For better understanding.. Coach Sommers is the guy to ask

  7. actually, I'm quitting the "fancy" gym, which I used to go to until now. It's expensive and too far away from my home. I will use the cheaper gym near my place for basic exercises. They don't have machines, maybe one or two. Just barbells and dumbbells and free-weight training equipment. They will also have kettle-bells classes in the future, and I'm looking forward to this! Near that gym there is also a free open sport-ground with all equipment for pull ups, dips, etc. So my plan is to do compound exercises twice a week in the gym, like dead-lifts and squats, etc. The rest of the time I will follow the Armstrong pull ups program on that sport ground, until winter comes. So it will be compound basic exercises and pull ups - hard core, hehehe:)

Crossfit guys are not pro-machine.. So might be a good thing if you look at it from that angle. Their slogan - Dont use a machine, be one.

  8. Seriously....

I dont even know where to begin with that....

    Fundamental premise.

Foods.. come from Life.. You can do whatever you want to a piece of stone.. You cant eat it or process it to give it "Life Force (Prana)" giving abilities.

For exactly the same reason that Veg food is recommended over "Meat" (dead food) in Ayurveda.. is that Meat has zero to no Prana.. Life giving Force.

Probably the reason why a lot of people feel a super kick with Raw / High Raw.. or Fruits (very high Prana).

OLD FOOD.. Has no Prana.. or low prana.. or zero..

Which is probably one reason why ... throughout traditional Indian Cuisine you'll be hard pressed to find anything thats Baked or Fermented... (typically done in other places to make FOOD with LONGER.. SHELF LIFE).. Ayurveda... highly recommends eating freshly cooked foods.. not older saved.. longer shelf life stuff..

Is very against foods fermented with yeast.

Then again.. Prana is not the only parameter when it comes to Food attributes as understood by Ayurveda (5000 year old Health & Life science).. Might help to look it up.

  9. You've migrated to India? Where? Cool, I love India too. I do Yoga but you are right I should do it more frequently, it is really the best for a woman - physically and emotionally. Do you know a got online test?

Bombay/ Mumbai. I was born in India.. spent a lot of time out of here.. now a spiritual calling pulled me back .

I'll say this.. Do Suryanamaskars.. (Google it.. ) It has 10-13 (Antagonistic) Asanas depending on variation. And the sequence pretty much hits every muscle group in your body...

PS: I ask anyone here to try them out and see how the feel after.. Its wierdly burning and energizing .. Anyways.. I dont see a point in debating or proving how effective / good it is. Try it for a few weeks and then tell me how they feel. Simple as that folks

    Whats a got online test?

PS: Just noticed that pink .. is that an Indian outfit?

  10. Done yoga for 5 years before starting with bodybuilding. Now my gym instructor is surprised how correct I do every exercise with weights. I'm like robot, back's always straight like an arrow:)))) And that is because of yoga: I have stability and focus, which is important for BB, too. UNfortunately, stopped yoga for couple of months, but from September on, I'll get back to it. Can't wait. I LOVE yoga!

So, my guess it's great combination!

Alternate and do both or keep some relaxing yoga stretches at end of workout.

Joint strength, Tendon Strength, Stability... Yoga / Static body calisthenic holds rock

If you were into yoga, you should check out the Gymnastic Strength stuff I linked in prev post.

tomorrow I am flying back home from the vacation, and guess what is first on my last the very day in the evening?

    YOGA!

Those gymnastic exercises you posted are great, but I am not that advanced. Unfortunately, it took me 30 years to realize I love sport. I started with yoga when I was 30 and with weight lifting couple of months ago, in the age of 37. I wish I was wiser and used all that years for sport and nt for drugs and alcohol...

Hope you join the forum at gymnasticbodies.com ... Brilliant stuff.. Brilliant Coach (America's no.1 Gymnastics Coach talking to you Mano Armano)

  12. How can I store beans after I cook it? And for how long? Because it's not worth it to cook it in little quanities.

in freezer. i think 1 or 2 months is OK.

I've kept beans in my freezer much longer than that in a freezer bag.

DONT DO THAT! God... its bad to freeze food that long.. No life force remains.. No Prana.. And with prior cooked beans .. Gas

Ideally cook on the day you want to eat. But for practicality.. you can do alternate days (I used to cook lentils / kidney / chick peas.. for 2 days of meals). Or maybe twice a week.

  13. I do a mix of Gymnastic Strength + Yoga

Building an Olympic Body through Bodyweight Conditioning

    http://dragondoor.com/articler/mode3/229/

How strong is it possible to become with bodyweight exercises? Amazingly strong. In fact I would go so far as to say, done correctly, far stronger than someone who had trained for the same amount of time with free weights. Want some concrete examples? One of my former students, JJ Gregory (1993 Junior National Champion on the Still Rings) developed such a high degree of strength from my bodyweight conditioning program that on his first day in his high school weightlifting class he deadlifted 400lbs., and this at the scale breaking weight of 135 lbs. and a height of 5’3”
  14. 5. NSAIDs/pain relievers/cortisone injections will only help with the pain and not with healing. If your pain is this bad it may be a good idea to see a professional anyway.

Systemic anti-inflammatories such as fish oil are good to be taken anyway for overall health (and do not factor into this consideration). Systemic inflammation can hinder recovery because of poor blood flow to the tissue leading to poor tissue quality and slow healing. Thus, it is important to overall limit inflammation from dietary sources (too many carbohydrates), as well as take health systemic anti-inflammatories like omega-3s from fish oil.

The reason I advised against the above NSAIDs like ibuprofen other medicinal anti-inflammatories because once the healing process starts for the tendon with above modalities, there needs to be some inflammation to promote tissue quality improvement. Bombing yourself with too many may hinder this process as well as other gains associated with muscle growth/repair from workouts. You can read more about this on Kelly Starrett's blog.

Systemic anti-inflammaries tend to be not strong enough to interfere with normal health especially from natural sources like fish oil.

I do have Olive oil in my salad everyday.
