Hi there brandonc. First off, I would look here: http://www.subway.com/applications/NutritionInfo/nutritionlist.aspx?id=breadtop They also have vegetarian patties at the one by my house, but it has eggs in it sadly. They also have a lot more sauces such as vinaigrette. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinaigrette When in doubt, ask them if they can check the ingredients. They have it in the back.

Thanks for your input Brian. As far as food containers, ya you can. Basically, you have two containers at some residences. One is black (for trash) and the other is blue (for recycling). I just have my friend put it there. I don't have food on it either, I clean it off.

People think I'm crazy...and snobby for being a Vegan
kollision replied to Evan's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Brian. I really want to know. Splenda, and all artificial sugers also in the same situation? -
Did you know that dairy animals are treated worse than the animals that are slaughtered? Also, those dairy animals are sometimes used to be slaughtered too, and are considered "down" animals since they have like their legs broken and been sucked dry. CompassionateGirl knows a lot on this subject. Also, if he went vegetarian for ethical reasons, he should be the very one to be vegan. If he helped you towards veganism, that's a bit hypocritical. You should have a conversation with him on the horrors of dairy foods and whether his pleasure of 5 minutes of eating is worth more than the oppression and torture of the cows life. You have everyright to talk to him about this. Don't come off judgementally, since maybe he is ignorant to that fact. Vegetarianism should be a stepping stone (if you don't go vegan straight, which I find odd since you care on animals welfare) towards veganism. But 8 years?

Exactly what my view on this is. But then free speech is free speech. I don't think it's right either, but gotta bear with it. Even ones with pacfisim is going to have violence, oddly enough. People are able to "justify" their beliefs, even if it is beyond the scope of a certain philosophy. That's cool, not many people know that fact, which is the reason that a lot of arabs out here were terrorized by americans. Do you know what type of arabic they taught you? Like how here we sound different from those in england. Yup, rarely hear anything about Africa. Even that concert for Africa was to just "raise awareness". No money was sent there at all, and the celebrities still got gift bags. Never heard about China, all I know is there are wayyy too many people there and they dump the girl babies since they can only have 1 and they want it to be a male. Christianity as a whole or just the christianity that was being preached? For example, a lot of the religions today aren't even being followed, but are misconstrued to their own purpose. Religion today seems nothing more than power. Again, like I said, it's all a matter of discretion. I heard from someone that he had an interview and said that they did a cartoon with Jesus on the Cross with money coming out of his mouth. Nice talking Jay.

What is "Hostel"? I know it is a movie, but what does it mean?

Hello and welcome Theomen! I am certified with ISSA. I think Bill Pearl (he was a bodybuilder and Mr Universe) is an ovo lacto vegetarian. He even won Mr. Universe when he was ovo-lacto. He is one of the board members for ISSA too. But still, that's not vegan and I agree with you that a lot of them should. But if they did, there would be no more use of steroids, and I doubt they are willing to give that up. Good luck on getting recert. Is it gonna be with ACE again or a new company?

Thank you CrispyQ Thanks for your reply too, made a lot of sense.

Is sugar non vegan or something? -
Thanks everyone for your responses. I never have eaten it, but I feel guilty to just throw it away. You guys made a lot of good points, thanks. However, if they messed my order up, should I just say they messed it up and if I could keep both meals for free? All they do is throw it in the back that's why. btw, Vegan pizzas are good. I order them from Papa Johns (since Pizza Hut is a bad baaad company as CompassionateGirl told me), and they use some of the best ingredients ever, all fresh too. LOL@ the pizza without cheese. I think I might be the only one too as when my mom went to pick it up, they said something similar to her.

Going to check it, thanks! So you are a computer programmer? That's cool! Good luck on making it, sounds cool. Hopefull they'll get a hint at it from the game Whiplash, I'll have to give it a try. Do you kill people at all?

Sodium Content and Water Intake
kollision replied to Quest Engine's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
When you sweat, you need to replenish the sodium right there and there, not just with water. Reason why high carb drinks such as Gatorade are utilized during workouts. If you just ingest water, it can create an imbalance of the salt to water ratio. -
Sodium Content and Water Intake
kollision replied to Quest Engine's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
I am not sure about that if it flushes it out, but still, I don't think it would be wise to even try it since it has retaining effects. The same goes in regards to supplements. Even if you drink massive amounts of water, it doesn't mean they will get flushed out. They still get absorbed either way. I will ask some personal trainers right now and I will get back with an answer for you. -
Testify brother! That is soooo true....I always use the word "Big" when saying the name "Bertha, such as "Big Bertha". There is even a comic book character by the name Big Bertha and she is huge too, that is one of her powers.

Sweet. Was it Hue Saturation?

Exactly as he stated. Now, they will not tolerate any such things at all, which may lead to WW3. Yup, no one thinks it is good. As far as them spreading it around, perhaps these are the people that are anti west and want to do all that is possible to bring it down. I agree too that it was blown out of proportion, but since this has happened, I think it's going to make people think twice. Wait, maybe not. I remember hearing that a Governor (or politician) in Italy wore a shirt with the cartoon on it. I doubt it was to represent free speech at all, but due to this, if there was an attack on the Olympics, would that have been worth it? Same here. Sadly, they can't.
-
So then should Free Speech have certain limits to it? You think that its wrong, just as others think its wrong to criticize ideologies. Muslims believe that everyone was born Muslim. Also, most of these people didn't choose it, they were born with it because their parents forced it on them, therefore it's pretty much as if it is them and they had no choice on the matter. You think racism is wrong, but that right there goes against the idea of Free Speech. What you think is wrong, someone thinks is right. What they think is right (ie Islam or protesting they way they are) you think it is wrong. Pretty confusing matter which generally has no right or wrong answers either way you try to look at it. THe thing is, how do you know that a lot of what is going on is Muhammed teachings or not? You just see Muslims acting out, and you automatically assume it was from Muhammed, even though it could have been a fatwa that was dictated out. However, even some Muslims would say that a lot of such things is true (such as killing apostates of Islam). I actually had a Muslim tell me that, "If I lived in the time of Muhammed, I would beg for forgiveness", because I am not Sunni and I don't regard the Hadith as an authentic source. He claimed (and even in Hadiths it says) that those who are apostates (turn away from the fold of Islam) should be killed. Even though I claim myself a Muslim, read the Qu'ran, I don't read the Hadith and that is why he said such things. Reasons why I agree to point that a lot of the stereotypes are true. My problem is the way they went about it. Speaking of Christianity, majority of the Arabs in the United States are Arabs. Also, Egypt has a Christian following since a long time ago called the Coptic Church. The assumption of "Muslim = Arab" is one of those stereotypes that I mentioned that are false, while there are some that have a good reason (such as other racial stereotypes like I gave on Koreans). Actually, a lot of the people that America thinks are the "Arab Profile" are actually Bengalis and other South East Asians, which are not even close to Arabs at all. Also, I find it cool that you were an Arabic Linguist, I never would have guessed! Does that mean you can also read and write Arabic? That propaganda stuff, happens on both sides of the fence. America is "Stop the Terrorists!" and the Extremists are "Stop the Infideles!" Man that's cool stuff Jay! Now that would really suck. I think that they probably do get death threats. I think that the way that you go about your protest is a big deal as to the impact that it will cause. The cartoons, since a lot of Muslims are really serious with Islam, is really due to cause more harm than good. A lot of Muslims are serious with their religion (even though they might not even practice it whole heartedly. Ironic huh?) compared to that of the majority of Christians. Not that Christians aren't serious, but Muslims are just one step further in terms of taking offense. Ya, I think that the US had a say in A LOT of things. Such as how they financed Bin Laden on the FBI payroll. Also the same as in South America. Yet, they are able to call other people terrorists, geesh. I don't know how the Middle East will change, I hope it does though. There are also really bad Hindu treatments of women, where some of them burn the women because they could not bare a son. Not negating that a lot of these "Islamic Countries" need some changing, but I am just saying that it is all over, in all beliefs. The media tends to focus on just that one issue in regards to women. A lot of Muslims I know take care and revere their women. Not sure the ratio of the two, but I am just stating that it is not just Islam that has that problem. I really like Voltaire, he has some good statements. I haven't seen it where he poked fun at the church however. Reason why I think if they wanted to make a statement on Islam, they didn't need to resort to Cartoons. The first impression that I get is mockery. It's pretty obvious that a lot of other people would view it this way as well, be it Islam or not. I agree as well. I think that it shouldn't be made illegal, but just have discretion on your actions before doing them. I'm all for free speech. But when it's going to insight anger, sometimes you have to think twice. The medium in which they chose is the reason that I do not approve of what they did. If they had gone another route, then I would be all for it. Not saying that it should get censored at all, just my personal opinion on it. Just because of these cartoons, people are dying. If they took another route, maybe it would have been less or nil. I think that a lot of this is like our own vegan movement. Sometimes you have to be careful on how you present something, as it might create a setback rather than a step forward. Good response Jay

Thank you for your response CrispyQ, very good point. So would you just throw it away, or give it to someone else? I take it you would throw it, right?

Welcome aboard! A lot can be done on a vegan diet, we have a lot of good people here (including SeaSiren) that can attest to it. Sounds like a long time that you have been active. Good luck with your diet, it was a great choice. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
-
Thanks for the quick response Sea Siren. We all don't eat meat, but sometimes when it is presented to us, we don't want to waste them, but at the same time, we don't want to eat it because we are Vegan. I think that as a vegan, we should never waste whenever we don't have to, but it's different when it comes to the meat since they died and were tortured, and that if they just get thrown away, there was even less of a purpose. Perhaps we can just give it to someone else that eats meat or would that be against our belief? Pizza is generally just in one cardboard box, so it's easy to recycle. Plus, you can put all your other paper and such in there and put it in your recycling can outside. I don't have one of those, so I give it to a friend that does. You are welcomne as well I know that Raw dieters of all people have to be one of the least wasteful people out there in regards to packaging and such, which is one of the main reasons that I want to go RAW.
-
I have some questions for the rest of you, as sometimes I get in a predicament and I do not know what to do. 1. If you are served food with meat in it by accident, do you still eat it (so that they do not go to waste and a meaningless sacrifice) or do you dump it (because you are vegan)? Goes the same with dairy. 2. Do you avoid pizza places or other food establishments when take out because of wasting of the packaging? I always try to recycle the paper aspects of the packaging (ie. Pizza box is cardboard, Asian food is in the paper box, etc.) but sometimes it comes in plastic boxes, and I can't recycle that. Do you also avoid places like that entirely because of the packaging that may be going to waste in the back (such as the individual food packaging when making your food)?
-
Of course I miss the taste, but I do not miss IT in particular. I get in that predicament sometimes. I am not sure if I should eat it so that it doesn't go to waste and waste the animals life even more or just throw it since I am vegan. I think the first would be better, but I find a hard time...

kollision replied to Evan's topic in General Discussion
Funny that they think you are a "snob" or "better". Actually it is them, because they continue to torture and kill these precious creatures. Pretty ironic, aye? -
Smoothies are good, but like all drinks compared to the real food, the real food is better. More nutrients, and also it gets you fuller quicker than the drink. You could probably drink a couple of cups of those, and thats a little too much which would go towards weight gain than weight loss. Unless you are good with planning your diet, drinks should be a minimal when you can eat the real food.
