  1. Whenever I can I try to make sure I'm getting everything I need from my diet. (For B12 I use a lot of Nutritional Yeast) but I see doing things like the B12 spray and my Vegan daily multi vitamin as an insurance policy. If some reason if I've missed getting something my body needs from natural sources I know I'm 'covered'.
  2. For me, I work out of my home, so there's too many distractions to get a good uninterrupted workout. I like going to the gym because it's the only time of the day which I am truly out of the office. Which makes it easier for me to be motivated to do it
  3. One of my writers who works for me really liked it: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=28959
  4. Thanks all. You guys are confirming my gut feeling that I am fine giving it a go on my own. Well not completely on my own... I mean I've got the support of one kick ass vegan body building community!!
  5. So I joined a gym last month and the membership came with a few personal trainer sessions. So far they've been nice, the trainer's nice and I haven't had to dig into my pocket beyond my membership for them. Well we're coming to the end of the free ones and I sit down and they tell me how much they are going to be per session... $70 per 50 min training session. The trainer looks at me with a straight face and says "I think we should do 2 a week". My jaw dropped. Yeah I'm spending $140 a WEEK!?!? I don't think so. Of course through the session today she commented on how important a trainer is to make sure you do everything correctly (position/etc) and that they can mix it up for you... blah blah blah. So I figured I'd check in with my new Vegan Bodybuilding buddies and get some advice. How much value is there in working with a trainer. If motivation isn't an issue (and right now it's not an issue at all) is going it alone a better way to do it? Thoughts/suggestions/etc warmly welcomed.
  6. I have 2 myspace accounts. One for business and one personally. The one personally i consider anti-social networking as I don't add many of the random requests I get for friends (only people I know in some way, even virtually). Businesswise I'm a myspace ho. Will friend anyone except those Myspace webcam people.
  7. I have one for my biz: http://www.cafepress.com/dvdtalk - G
  8. Looks good. I had a Cascade Juice that was - Carrot, Banana, Orange... Interesting combo that I really did like.
  9. They just posted that they'll also have Hemp Milk w/ the Cookies. Got to love living in Portland... YUM!!!
  10. I picked up the Pure Advantage B12 Spray from Cosmo Vegan and it's the easiest supplement I take. http://www.cosmosveganshoppe.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PAB12&Category_Code=B12&Product_Count=3 1 squirt 1x a week. A lot easier to deal with than waiting for a sub lingual pill to dissolve under your tongue.
  11. I second the Amazon recommendation. The prices fluctuate but there are often Grocery coupons floating out there that can help make the total order cost pretty reasonable. I'm starting to run low on my Nutivia Hemp Powder so I'll be in the market again soon.
  12. Oh you mean this The Scarecrow and I go way back.
  13. Thanks for the warm welcome. On thing I've been finding is that the pounds came off a lot faster in 2004 than they are in 2007. I've been hitting the exercise pretty hard for the past month or two and the scale isn't as cooperative as it was before.
  14. Been lurking on the forum a bit and finally joined I'm 36 and have 3 kids (8/5/4months). The entire family has been vegan for 3 years now and love it. Lived in Portland now for 14 years and it's home. Before going veg (and what ultimately lead up to going veg) I did a huge 360 with my body going from 233 to 189. Before: 234 (4/04) After: 189 (9/04) Once you start looking at your diet and thinking about what you eat and why, it's hard to stop... Also read 'diet for a new America' as well as lived off of Garden of Vegan for a week while I was losing weight. Last year I was having some pain in my lower back from working in front of a computer too much, went to a chiropractor who proceeded to adjust me in a way that threw out my back. Couldn't walk for several days. Fired my chiropractor and found a great acupuncturist and massage therapist. (Oh the working in front of a computer is my job, I run DVDTalk.com) Needless to say my injury threw a complete wrench into all my exercise and training. It's been a long road back but now I'm back to doing Yoga 2/3 week and cardio 'training' 2 days a week. Also JUST started weight training.... So what better time to officially become part of VBB! (I'm 197 now, so I gave a little of it back after my back injury... but I'm working on getting back to 189 but doing it with a higher total fitness level)
