I'd agree with taking some time off but I'd say don't eat anything. Take a fast in fact. Now I have no proof that works, and its something I read while educating myself on natural hygiene, but it makes a lot of sense to me. It is a fact that digesting food adds to stress and relaxed bowels = a much more relaxed body. You need as little stress as possible when fighting "invaders".

I had to read that as I'm drinking my green tea with sugar in it. I've got to try something else as Splenda didn't work out as a replacement. I'll have to try Stevia then.

Yes and yes! I think people are afraid of feeling guilty. I began to eat "kosher" about 13 yrs ago and never looked back. Not because I felt I was going to hell for eating things I shouldn't, but because it wasn't healthy to eat those things. It was just common sense to me. My family and friends had a HUGE problem with that. It took a lot of THEM getting used to it, for whatever reason. Simply denying something what others are going to accept is like insulting to them or something. I learned its like that when you're shopping too. If you're looking at something people watch you like a hawk to see what you choose. If you look at something they're looking at and walk away before they do, its like they take that as a hint that its not "cool" so they just snub their nose at it and move on too. You would think in a free thinking society, or one that CLAIMS to be, things like that wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for that info!! I'll read more up on it eventually. Keep up the great work!! David -
Anyone eat Chlorella and/or Spirulina?
HorseSense replied to cocoacutie's topic in Health & Nutrition Programs
Totally agree. I crave sweets all the time especially during winter. So my diet right now is basically if I'm not stuffing my face with legumes I'm stuffing it with FRUIT. Being vegan doesn't mean "veggies" and that's it. Unless of course you are a rabbit. -

Impressive! When you're doing 5 x 5 do you count warm up sets as a legit set or do you do the same (max working) weight for 5 sets once you've warmed up to it? I'm actually doing HST but I have read others saying they switch back and forth and I've never learned about 5 x 5. Also, do you have any problems doing heavy weight for 5 reps with things like the squat? -
There was a study done on animal protein vs plant protein (some kind of bean IIRC) and the body didn't care where the protein came from for building mass but the animal protein was more readily dumped by the kidneys (and thus caused more strain). I cannot for the life of me think of where I read the article which contained the study or study, but if I can find it, I'll post it here for you.

I frown in diamonds myself although I know most people don't know about what's involved. Same thing with Washington, DC's coal burning. They are blowing the tops right off of West Virginia's mountain tops to get the coal underneath, essentially ruining the natural landscape and wildlife habitats, then Dick Cheney had the nerve to poke fun at West Virginians being a bunch of redneck hicks. Big industry and government both need some really strong enemas.

Vegan diet and my fight against prostate cancer!
HorseSense replied to IronSmith's topic in Introductions
Man that is so great to hear! My grandfather died of prostate cancer and my father and I are at high risk so its great to hear such positive results! This is also one of the reasons I had decided to go vegan. Welcome to the forum! David -
A little bit of leaven ruins the whole lump.

I would definitely have gone out of my way to see it during a visit there! Yea that sucks you didn't get one last look.

You ignored the one study that took me all of 30 secs to google (I refuse to go deeper), never answered most of my questions and hence never made a point beyond mine, wasted everyone's time, and now the truth of why you did all this surfaces. Your prejudiced opinion of me and my posts is dually noted and well marked. I will remember your motives in the future and never, ever respond to your posts again. Have a nice day. David

I just left a comment. Its not my responsibility to help you deal with it.

I'm still waiting for your point. There's no "evidence" that its bad for your health, but there's none that it isn't. Your point is no more valid than mine. You didn't have to explain yourself but I have to explain myself? pffft lol

Wow great before and after shots. Very reassuring and inspiring! Keep up the great work and welcome to the forum!

Don't try this at home: funny workouts

Been there done that! -
Then what is your POINT? We have POTENTIAL evidence that hasn't shown up yet, according to even you. You HONESTLY think Monsanto or the federal government gives a crap about you? Yet it seems you don't give two flips about that thought, even trying to shoot down others' advise to stay away from it.

The general guideline is actually to eat maintenance and then do cardio to lose fat. But first you have to find your maintenance which brings you to the cookie cutter formulas for determining such a number. I agree with Ben on this one. The general guideline for everyone is "so many calories by so and so formula" but I've found I don't fit anywhere near that formula and if I do want to eat all the calories I'm supposed to be eating without gaining a TON of fat I have to get it through fruit. Otherwise I have to eat well below and people would be shocked at what I am maintaining my weight on. David Edit: That doesn't mean I'm not saying don't use a formula to go by. I think it is a good starting point.

How does a tree smolder for weeks without burning down and people not even smell it? I suppose its as possible as kerosene melting steel and man being able to beat nature by producing GMOs to get around something that is only going to perpetuate even worse. I'm getting sick of this perverse world.
-
Edited to make this short; Most of what we eat hasn't been specifically modified at the genetic level by corporate scientists and marketed with a patent based on such. My question STANDS. Where is the evidence that it is healthy? Oh wait... I think that concludes your own contradictory statement that there is no "evidence" that it is "bad". My point stands. Unless you want to be a health guinea pig for a MONSTROSITY of a corporation looking to grab for a global monopoly on the human food supply, stay away from GMOs.
-
Wow you obviously know a lot more about this study than me. I just learned about this one myself. Surely you can show really good studies showing evidence that GMO soy is really good for human consumption, especially since that would have been required by the federal government in order for it to be approved, right? Also, this evidence you are going to show me (I'm sure you have it) must not be well known in most all of the other developed nations since they have banned GMOs for human consumption. Thanks!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-smith/genetically-modified-soy_b_544575.html "After feeding hamsters for two years over three generations, those on the GM diet, and especially the group on the maximum GM soy diet, showed devastating results. By the third generation, most GM soy-fed hamsters lost the ability to have babies. They also suffered slower growth, and a high mortality rate among the pups. And if this isn't shocking enough, some in the third generation even had hair growing inside their mouths--a phenomenon rarely seen, but apparently more prevalent among hamsters eating GM soy." That isn't evidence? I'm not going to debate over GMOs. You tell people to eat it by the mouthfuls all you want. Even without any "evidence" I know to stay away from something that isn't natural. That's just common sense. Well, at least to me it is. Maybe it isn't to you. You can't beat nature. You never will. Stop trying to get around it or its going to bite you in the ass or worse.
