  1. Here's a new bike commuter pain story:

The other day I was cycling home when I noticed a tree trimmer service throwing tree limbs into a huge shredder.

Unfortuntaley it was to late to stop - I rode through a cloud of sawdust & was instantly blinded. I crashed into a parked

car & couldn't see for over 10mins. I've never had anything like this happen in my life. It was horrifying

This is crazy! What in the world, were they just blowing the chips into the road?

They should be putting the shredded chips into a truck and removing it. Or maybe it blew out of the truck?

Regardless, that is a freak thing. As a fellow bicyclist I know how it can be, the weirdest things you wouldn't think of normally being a problem can be a big problem on a bike.

    Glad you wasn't seriously hurt.

The best I can describe is that the saw dust blew out in the exhaust.

I think it's good we can share bike commuting stories.

It helps fellow cyclists avoid some of the pitfalls of the daily grind.

By any chance do you wear cycling goggles? I've been debating getting some. The pollen has been brutal.

  2. A few months ago someone got into our SUV & stole the change. So when we heard someone screwing around by the vehicles @ 2:30am we peekd out the window. We couldn't see them but heard someone saying "shut the fuck up" & a girl laughing. We called out & asked if everything was ok, only to realize it was our a'hole neighbor's kid. He was drunk & replied "I'm going to burry you". Then he drove through his parents front lawn.

As far as we can tell he hasn't gotten into trouble & no one was killed. His parents prob don't even know/care about him driving drunk.

So why does it PISS ME OFF SO MUCH!?!?!?! I'm so angry at the little sh!t - I want to punch him in the face for driving that girl home drunk.

Hubby wants to talk to his parents but I think it's best to leave it go. I told him if we see him driving drunk again we are calling the cops.

I just can't seem to resolve this issue. It's not good to be this angry.

  5. Bigorexia gives me pause...

Really wanted to make my arm muscles much larger but only made my arms smaller

    --went from 11.5 to 10.00

All the while taking in more cals & working harder.

Love the "Faux Food Fighter" thing. Awesome.

Try this on for size. I happen to believe, and I'm not alone in this, that the body responds more powerfully to thoughts than action. Which means that what you think about something is far more important than what anybody else says about it, or what you do about it. If you do what all the experts say because you think you are scrawny and need to get bigger, what carries more weight, the actions you are taking or the belief that you are scrawny? Clue: Many, many people hit the weights every day with an intensity that would impress Jay Cutler but they bring with them into the gym a muscle-shrinking mindset that says "I am not enough yet." Year after year, these people stay pretty small. They gotta get to the place of "This is working" before it will work. Seems like a mind scrambler, I know, but if you deeply desire physical change and passionately believe that you can accomplish more than what has been done before, are you wrong or are you an Olympic athlete? (Answer: you are an Olympic athlete. If Olympians only did what has been done before, no records would be broken, ever.)

To get in the mindset, review your facts: your are freakin' awesome. You are tight, strong, educated, experienced, you could teach anybody in the gym a thing or two about a leg workout. You have seen the dark side and you know what it feels like to break through it. You have felt the intoxicating euphoria of success, the sweetest mental morphine of them all. You've loved and you've built things. You are hot. You are funny. You've seen sunsets. You're gonna change everything they say.

Knowing all this, your biceps will grow. It's true. Hold onto it.

Hey thanks ~ that's really sweet

  7. All I grow is sadness and disappointment.

The garden centers, mags & seed catalogs make it look soooo easy to grow veggies when it fact it isn't easy at all.

//They// want you to fail! If you succeed then //they// will lose $$$

I suggest just starting with 1 tomato plant in a nice big pot. If you give it all the love it needs then it will

produce tons of fresh fruit. Maybe even enough to roast & freeze for the winter.

The key is not to overwhelm yourself. Do you really want to be outside when it's over

90 degrees ranking weeds & swatting bugs?

1 plant in the right place with the right amount of water is all you need to start with.

  8. I really want a vegetable garden.

If I could grow carrots, garlic, onion, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and other leafy greens it'd save me soooo much money.

Carrots: are pretty simple - I suggest growing them in deep pots w/compost & sand. This way they will grow straight.

Besides they like loose soil & not much else.

    * Start seeds now, I love purple because they are sweeter

Garlic: Should be started in fall. You might be able to get away w/planting it now but it depends on your growing zone

Onion: Buy starters, its way easier then starting seed.

The seed I started last year is only now forming edible bulbs.

Tomtoes: Start Seeds now in potting mix.

Try to avoid bags that have peat moss. Peat moss is not sustainable

Cucumbers: Good luck (I suck at growing them)

Leafy Greens: Start now just like carrots

  10. I am so behind when it comes to getting the veggie garden ready. The extremely mild winter has tricked various plants into blooming. I have blooms on two of three azalea bushes and have lilies and daffodils popping up all over. I'm still finding remnants of the previous owner's planting beds and am hesitant to rip anything out because I love what I've found so far.

Mulch that sh!t. Seriously, you need to add more mulch next fall - it will keep the ground cooler for a longer time.

I too held off on cleaning the beds & ya know what? That's a good thing! This year I found 2 praying manits egg sacs.

WOE! sorry about the size of that - let me try to re-post

  11. I just started gardening last year and ready to start this years garden. To scared to try root vegetables just yet and didn't have much luck with my squash plants or brussels sprouts.... Will have to try again this year

Don't be scared. Root veggies are some of the easist to grow.

If you didn't have much luck it could be that you aren't watering enough.

For example: I always FAILED at tomatoes but as it turns out they were not getting

enough water. Water is te key & it should be Floride free (I know Ive already posted this)

You MUST install rainbarrels. The water is free & it's what your plants crave.

Since the begininng of this year my area is 2.5 inches below average & it's only feb.

I pulled my barrels out've the basement & hooked them up over the weekend just to

    harvest 100gals today.

  12. Short Funny story: I was on Freecycle the other day & there was an offer for "A Large Wooden Index Card Box".

The lady said it had nice dovetailing but a little scratched ontop.

I was like "Hell Yeah" I could totally use a wooden box like that for all my garden seeds.

So I email & said I'd come get it.

As it turns out, the Large Wooden Box was smaller then a toaster??????

WTF? Large should = Large right???

    Plus the lid was broken

When I got home I tossed it in the garbage

  13. I wear a pair of diamond earings that a gf gave me a long long time ago. She means

a lot to me so I never take them out.

    *but*

NO - I would never go out & buy diamonds. I never wore an engagment diamond & my wedding band is black titanium
