Questions that have bugged me for a while.
vegankyle replied to vegankyle's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
Thank you very much, that really helps me. I've heard a lot about "thin skin" (actually i read it on a lot of Rob's posts, haha!). What's this all about? Is it acheived by overall working out? Sorry if these questions were really newbish, but I am very newbish. -
I've always heard the following: heavy weight + low reps = builds bulk. lighter weight + high reps = toned/cut. Is there some happy medium? Is it a good idea to switch off on weeks of doing heavy weight work outs/light weight workouts? How many reps and how much weight is good for toning/cut? Those are about it. Any feedback on those Qs will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!

wow man. Will, im built identically to how you were a few years ago. this gives me hope.

cool. thanks! both your replies really help. the reason why im tryin to count the calories is to make sure im eating enough. i figure im suppose to double the regular 2k calorie diet if i want to gain. ive not been doing that... except for protein, i try and count how much protein i get. i hear its good to count carbs too, haven't been doing that either.

awesome, thanks for posting this in advance. I might try to cook some of this during the holiday. muchas gracias!

The easiest thing about pre-packaged meals is being able to read how many calories, carbs, protein, etc. it has. But when you're cooking how exactly do you count everything? I mean if i have a quantity of specific veggies and/or pasta, etc. in something like a stirfry... do you just add all the calories and such for each ingredient together? This has puzzled me and has held me back from cooking. Thanks in advance! .Kyle.

wow that page was really anal toward pagans. by no means during samhain, bealtain, or any of the pagan holidays do we worship demons and the like. it was the christians who labeled the holiday halloween... and along with it gave it evil and came up with the nonsense of devils and satanic rituals. This passage just reall pissed me off: "When America and the world celebrates the Festival of Samhain and the powers of darkness by masquerading as evil creatures or decorating our homes, schools, businesses and churches with occult symbols, Satanic power is glorified. While you may have participated "all in fun," be assured, Halloween is serious business for Satanists and witches. Those who oppose Christ are known to organize on Halloween to observe satanic rituals, to cast spells, to oppose churches and families, to perform sacrilegious acts, and to even offer blood sacrifices to Satan. While some may say, "But we only do this in fun...we don't practice witchcraft," those things that represent Satan and his domain cannot be handled or emulated "for fun". Such participation places you in enemy and forbidden territory and that is dangerous ground." That is the most giant load of crap i have ever read. I HATE that we Wiccans are labeled associated with Satanists... it's down right ignorant. I can't say anymore because that crap just frustrates me to an unbelieveable point.

In need of a good workout plan
vegankyle replied to xChrisZx's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
Heya Chris, First off, you are badass if you're a henry rollins fan. i love his music and his outlook on life. As for bulkin up. it is possible man. check out this article for the basics and a good starter workout http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/article/113 thats what they pointed me to when i asked your same question. and really after a while, you'll tweak your workout and find out whats best for you and gets the results you want. the big thing is nutrition. i really wouldn't know what you're diet needs to be. but for me, im trying to gain weight so i consume over the needed 2000 calorie diet with a lot of protein and carbs. but as for shedding weight, my guess is cardio. anyway, im not the smartest nor the most experienced here on the boards, but that's just what they've told me take care. -

Want to make sure im doing it right.
vegankyle replied to vegankyle's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
thank you all. the diet info really helps topher... i didnt really know how many calories to intake to maintain or gain. ive just been eating a lot and doing it often, but i think it'd be smart to actually start counting the calories. as for my reps, im finding that working 6-8 reps on heavy weight gives the muscles im working that "stretched" or "tight" feeling for a few minutes afterward.... i think that's what im after, haha! so much thanks to all the help every one -

No i havent really played around with the dumbells much. But I've been getting new ideas after seeing this post. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=586683 maybe i'll try some of those for my next work out. is it a good idea to change up workouts or just keep them the same if they're working for you? i would know if change is good for the muscles or whatever... just me being neurotic. haha!
